Sheets Weren’t Changed at Some Hotels During COVD-19

- As hotels start reopening for business with promises of enhanced cleaning protocols in the wake of COVID-19, Inside Edition put some major hotel brands to the test and found evidence that some weren't changing sheets or wiping down surfaces between guests. Inside Edition producers checked into several New York City hotel rooms and used a harmless, washable spray to apply a logo only visible under UV light to the pillows, bed sheets and bath towels. See what they found when they checked back in. #InsideEdition

How often do u wash your sheets?
@@BallNBlake twice a week and you?
For the prices that people pay to stay at these hotels, there is no reason anyone should be bringing their own sheets from home. This is just so disgusting. My God
The problem is that hotels don’t pay housekeepers well, my mother use to work as one and they gave her 15 rooms alone to finish in 8 hrs. She cleaned well at first but once she saw the abuse and low pay she only cleaned what looked dirty. Hotel owners earn so much money and should pay employees better, the lack of ethical and morality is the reason why people bring their own sheets.
Well imagine getting paid 13 an hour and u only get 4 hours to do 15 rooms with double beds and you don't get ot
@@AngelGarcia-in9yu More like 11 an hour and you dont leave until your done but still only 4 to 5 hours a day.
@@kochos3462 And? They should be payed more, but a maid shouldn't endanger future customers out of spite. That's absolutely disgusting.
There is reason, you wrote it wrong
how could some of the hotel deny the accusation when it was filmed from start to finish? The best thing they could do is explain and take action, not denying.
BROOOOOOO I don't care if there's a pandemic going on or not, if y'all don't wash the sheets when guests leave that's plain gross
Edit: Ok so I showed this comment to my Mom and she told me that if you take ALL the linens off of a hotel bed and put them in the bathtub (Pillow cases included) the maids will 100% put fresh sheets onto the bed. She said that maids who actually clean the rooms appreciate it if you do this because all they have to do now is put clean sheets on the bed; you’ve basically done half the work for them
Edit 2: I realize it is a maid’s job to change the sheets without the above “hack”. My point is, a lot of maids DON’T do that; you’re doing a courtesy for the next people in the room. Plus I don’t see anything wrong with helping a maid, even if it is their job they’re still a human being
@Santiago Trujillo Lol, so did I!
Wtf.
@@ladywed2699 tyats why you should asked they to change your sheets as soon as yiu arrive

He was the manager
I worked at Hilton Hotel a few years ago.. and they told us to not change the blankets unless we saw a stain 🤮🤮🤮
Major health code violation.
I’m a general manager of a Hilton hotel. In my experience it’s best to have multiple people conducting specific tasks to assure sanitation. It’s safe to say that leaving these duties to just one individual can lead to these types of issues. I have a house person remove all the linens and trash before a housekeeper gets to the room. A inspector that sprays and sanitizes surfaces before allowing a guest to enter.
I cleaned at one of the Hiltons and they told us to not change the comforters, which had no covers, just a sheet placed beneath it and on top of it.
I think the hotel is like, “Ok the bed sheets LOOK clean the guests won’t notice anything.”
So they only clean it if it LOOKS dirty...
no, they just dont give the maids enough time to clean. some hotels just give them like 10 minutes per room, so thats why they usually only change the comforter, but not sheets
no mane Jane pretty much :(
Good point. Make it dirty and force them to change.
no mane Jane They give them like 3 hours.
Ya'll better spill a drink on those sheets so they LOOK dirty!
Inside Edition needs to hire a Karen, they’ll find the manager
Lmao
For real!
Yea
lol
OMG YESSS
At one of the Hilton hotels I cleaned, they had us change the top sheet and bottom sheet, but not the comforter, decorative drape, or decorative pillows. The comforter had no covers, just a sheet placed beneath and above it. We were told they got changed every four days regardless of who stayed there, no matter how long, but I never saw it happen nor was asked to do it.
every hotel i worked at only changed the sheet and pillow cases. we never washed the pillows. never washed the top blankets unless it was visibly soiled. weeks months... same blankets and unwashed pillows
"just a sheet placed beneath and above it" So super uncomfortable and completely different to how everyone sleeps at home or wants to sleep. Why do hotels do that at all and pretend it's better lol
@@agood1yuck
This is the resort’s fault; as a housekeeper I can tell you they don’t give you enough time to clean the rooms properly; so I’m not surprised that they aren’t always the cleanest. Stop overloading your workers!

Wtf🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
I've stayed at some very cleanly low cost hotels where they change the sheets every day. The palm hotel in california off of route 66 is really cute and somewhat low cost at about 100 bucks for a room
I was in housekeeping at a crappy super 8 for several years. I always changed the sheets once someone checked out or once a week for stay overs. Most of my co-workers did too. There was one that but corners, I witnessed her neatly make up the bed of a check out and not change the sheets 🤢
@@jonorway4970 Did you spray invisible paint to test your theory too? Or you're just judging by looking at the sheets?
Don’t defame the small businesses.they probably make an effort for a good stay. Smh.
their no way i would go to any motel well one with bed bugs and with this visres no way
Used to think my friend’s mom was trippin’ when she brought her own sheets and pillow cases everywhere they traveled.
Nah cause my mom does this and it’s the only way I’ll sleep on a hotel bed
Start tipping the housekeepers they get sick and tired of the guest leaving the rooms disgusting.
For real. I have to apologize to a few friends now.
I guess imma start bringing pillowcases too, what a world, $600 room only for used pillowcases how does everyone not have lice these days???
@@beaflor9045 I actually leave a tip for almost every hotel I’ve stayed because I know they work under a lot of pressure and have to flip 13-15 rooms in 8 hours and have a number of rooms ready by the 2-3pm check in time. If you think about it they have to work fast if they’re going to wipe, mop, dust, vacuum, collect and discard trash, AND change entire beds within 40ish minutes…
They really do deserve better pay overall
Out of habit I always placed towels and sheets in the bathtub before I leave. It’s so I can really scan the room and make sure I didn’t forget anything. I probably forced them to put clean sheets on the bed.
i always completely strip the bed and put all towels on a pile.

I have stayed in several hotels and motels during the pandemic in 2021. Many bedsheets and pillows were not clean. I’m sure every hotel’s policy is to clean the room properly. If the person who “cleaned” the room lies and says they did then they should be appropriately disciplined.
That’s what they said, they said that the sheets should be clean in any time, just it should be especially be cleaned cause of the global pandemic
Ikr
Managers don't manage. It might upset the workers.
You would be amazed at what the supervisors tell the maids to do and not do for each room
The managers may not be able to tell if all surfaces were wiped down, but there's absolutely no way that they wouldn't notice if there were fewer sheets being washed. It takes a lot of time and space in machines to wash sheets. It would be obvious if fewer sheets were being washed.
I want this kind of experiment to be conducted at japan’s hotels.
O
why
Considering how efficient japan is. Im not surprised if they managed to replace all the sheets and clean the entire room by 10mins
Hiroshima
Japan is very clean and they don’t like things dirty, so it wouldn’t be surprising if they changed EVERYTHING in their hotel rooms.
I’ve always wondered how maids know if a room is being stayed in again by the same person or if they know it’s new people. They always seem to clean so fast sometimes even before checkout time and I doubt they go back again and change sheets.
And this is the exact reason why I’m going to spray down EVERYTHING when I get a hotel
