- Tom Burrell, author, "Brainwashed: Challenging the Myth of Black Inferiority." Mr. Burrell is a marketing communications pioneer and Advertising Hall of Fame inductee. Host: Sheryl McCarthy.
I read this book while attending a CUNY school. (Thank you BnN) Great read. It was very enlightening to hear his knowledge on the science of media and the social effects it has on the disenfranchised communities. It also helped me understand the truth about the epigenetic traits we have inherited from our ancestors. Now if we can get our brothers & sisters to understand we’ve been living with our ‘eyes wide shut’. I would love to hear his take on Sunken Place Kanye, the ‘This is America’ video by Danny Glover and the future of television now that we have the internet readily.
The book is a MUST READ 🤧💯🤧💯
It's a good read
That’s my grandpa!
I cannot believe this is not viral....
notice how this only has 4306 views but if it were of something extremely stupid it would have millions.
i thought same too! it's also part of our brainwashed i reckon! we have been conditioned to reject knowledge and herein lies the problem.
brainwashed..
That’s because people as a whole are stupid

The viewership has risen over the years. People are always slow to come to the table of truth and knowledge.
Am an African...living in Africa. Just finished reading this book. I tell you for sure that what is pulling back our brothers & sisters in America is also what is affecting us here. It get worse when it becomes tribal or even clans. Something must have happened to the black race way back before slavery. I don't know what it is
As a white man, I find his take interesting.
I can't believe 12/15/2019 The view count is 9,617!!!!
you need some Candice Owens desperatley.
Candace Owens is a bitch traitor.
@@L.A007 only because they told you that. Probably never even listened to her only sound bites from Don Lemon. Stop falling for this Marxism hate mongering. She cares as much as anyone.
Good discussion! I disagree with him on education & some other things, but I'm definitely buying this book.
The best book, one of the best
Wonderful book, highly recommend.
could it also be that when white kids struggle in school, elders go above and beyond to make sure to help the kid along by use of psychology and medication and tutoring etc but when a black kid struggles with behavioural issues or low performance school don't work as hard to help him along. not every struggling black kid is "trying to be cool". that's nonsense
All people came from Africa. Black. ,white, Chinese Potereicans, Mexico, etc. All.
Ewe
Awesome interview
@20:15 his line on contextual ethics was revealing. He explained away hurting his people by saying, we didn’t know better. The exact logic used by the enslavers.
NOOOO.. IF U KNOW.... THEN SAY SOMETHING .. BECAUSE WE HAVE NO CLUE
Thanks to Sheryl McCarthy for a provocative discussion. While I agree with much of what Mr. Burrell says in his book, it is important to remember that his statements reflect his perceptions and interpretations as a black man in America. While his experience as a former advertising executive gives him specific insights into how the marketing industry works, the seemingly carte-blanche applications provide reasons for concern, and should be regarded as his perspectives and not unequivocal facts.
oneworldpi they’re facts so don’t downplay it
This truth is only one layer of the issue .
While conditioning has a real impact on how we view ourselves and society. He is talking about internalized white supremacy. We cannot lay the onus on the shoulders of the victims without also acknowledging and working to repel external white supremacy
The fact a black person writes such a book. The fact this interview about the book and it's content. Spells inferiority complex.
CAN YOU ELABORATE?
Please complete your statement. It is very disjointed . What are you saying.
huh?
Nope, simply identifying them examining a psychological campaign designed to harm a specific group is not an inferiority complex. If simply examining a topic makes you indicative of the topic then no one can discuss any topic without being guilty by talking.
