      For me, Lovehunter was their best album but this one introduced me to Whitesnake when I was thirteen, forty years ago. Still just as good today.

    It is clearly the best and only perfect Whitesnake album.
    I think that they had a lot of frustration with Deep Purple at the end. Than when it was over it took them a little time to realise what to do. They made Trouble and Lovehunter in 78-79. Those albums are good, but clearly it took them 2 years to understand what and how to play together and feel the band spirit - as well as make perfect compositions. And with all their creative energy put together they made this pasterpiece of an album. Raw energy, pure r'n'r, blues and hard rock mixed in the best possible way - performed by the best musicians of their time with an unbeliveable singer. They were on the top. Almost repeated it with Come an' get it, which is very-very good, but just a little bit below this album.
    Than Saints and Sinners was mostly repetition, nothing new - and with the departure of Marsden, this classic lineup ended with Slide it in, and something else started. The next Whitesnake (87) album is something completely different, both the music and the lineup.
    So maybe many of you agree with me, that this is a real highlight in rock history, I think it is better than most DP albums and it is greatly underrated.

      @SiFiClark Před 2 lety

      Underrated by who? The Prime Minister? People who dont like Whitesnake? Gary fucking Bushell at Sounds Music Paper...opinions opinions opinions..no ones opinion is more weighty than anyone elses
      I counter it was more about David finding his feet again as a musician and having his own band for the first time after the debacle of Purples demise. He as is well documented was super gutted about it.They were musically very tight as a band from the get go because they were all such seasoned performers...DP MK11 had 2 great albums in Rock and Machine Head stand out as does Burn for MK111 ( Mind you I totally fucking love Come Taste The Band)...not many bands create 4 or 5 stunning albums in a row...but I agree this is the one...played the fuck out of it and caught them at the Hammersmith on the Ready n Willing tour for the first time...I did really like Come n Get It because musically they were more complex songs in general, as bands tend to do as they start to really gel as mates and colleagues...ha thats right the night I saw then on the Come n Get it tour it was Jons 40th birthday so the whole of the Hammersmith sang him Happy Birthday..

      @@SiFiClark I do not really care for the prime minister.
      underrated normally means that it is not rated high enough compared to its quality by the general public or (rock) music fans. and it also suggests, that a lot of other low quality (crap) albums are rated much higher.
      not that difficult, ain't it!

    • @SiFiClark
      @SiFiClark Před 2 lety

      @@oriza2 in yr opinion that's what it means...it doesnt suggest anything of the sort re other albums you're just making that up in yr head mate..if you are not a fan then you are unlikely to rate it are you regardless.. What, the general public like Mrs Johnson at number 43? Or the Prime Minister? Exactly..saying underrated is super dumb, but an easy way to make yourself look like you know what's going on..you dont..I bet you never even saw the Snakes in the early 80s..the Prime Minister comment clearly went way over your head..
