It's always so refreshing to hear it from one of the most if not the most astonishing and wonderful Pianists and musicians of our time that it's pointless explaining in words music, and that's absolutely true. Music is truly a universal language that is communicated through sound between the performer and the listener.
GP, unbelievable,.... she was expressing the fact that Schumann's music moves her moreso than the other famous and very talented composers, I too agree with her, Schumann is it for me too! But here we are talking about music,,, pointless.
Argerich, in an age of great pianists, one of the very greatest, has always "gotten" Schumann in the deep way that many scholar and critics haven't who look, they say, at the totality of his work and observe 'Less musical ingenuity than Bach or Mozart", which at a technical level,is true -- though Schumann is often novel and ingenious. But as a creative artist, expressive of delight and profundity, Schumann is unsurpassed-even by Bach. Martha gets it-even if she can't say it.
Listen to the first sonata by Schumann. The second movement in particular.

Grande Marta.... No hay palabras... Quien puede entienda..

Me too. He moves me more than any composer but I can’t explain why. He was a genius.
