    i love their judicious use of the blast beat...too many bands over rely on it, leaving them one dimensional....this drummer manages to always be extremely uptempo without sticking to any one thing for too long... by not succumbing to the temptation to blast away indiscriminately, it gives his blasts more impact

      Its cut and paste dude, Öhman was not a good drummer. Just check out any of the live videos with him and Dissection. He cant keep the tempo for shit. This is the reason he was asked to leave the band.

      What do I know about his chops and style, I'm not a drummer. But I tell you one thing, I love how the drums sound on this album. I'm not talking about pure technical ability, I'm talking about the production and the drum sound. To me, that echo-y sound is beautifully done, and this records' overall production is one of my favorite in the mid 90s released albums. Now again, you seem like you know what you talking about, and I never saw them live, but production and sound wise I like storm of the lights bane over reinkaos. Even though technicly speaking reinkaos may be better, plus I'm pretty sure asklund is by far better drummer than ole

    Remember folks, that founding member, bandleader and composer was just 20 when this record was released. And this was Dissections' second full length. Look at todays 20 year olds...

      I saw them in, what was it, 96 or 99, at Wacken Open Air. Shortly after, Jon went to jail.

    The "Storm of the light's bane" album is nothing short of EPIC. First time I listened to it back in 1997 my jaw just dropped and I knew I had found something to keep for a long time. That was the second time I felt like that. The first time was back in 1991 when I was an avid Iron Maiden fan and a friend played the opening song from Entombed's Clandestine album for me. I keep those memories close to heart.

    We played support to Dissection on ’95 in Sweden. It was like a C team met an A team in anything. Watain, Dark Funeral etc is not even close to what Dissection was with their 2 first albums.

    So interesting to watch a reaction video of an australian listening to a small genre of music from my past - way way back as a teenager. I also got to see Dissection twice, both times after Jon was released from jail - a little while before his suicide. Thanks man! Cheers from Sweden.

    Thnx for sharing your reaction to Dissection. I wouldnt say that any of the riffs from Dissection sound like Satyricon, at all. But that's just me, I consider Dissection to be one of the very few original bands, with original sound, with original lyrics and original feelings. I simply could not compare Dissection to any other band, again, that's just me. Thank you again for sharing.

    I know I bagged you on your reactions previously but on this vid I had reactions to your reactions, it was a journey haha your face was priceless, I love that we can all still never stop educating ourselves on metal, there’s SO MUCH out there that we may miss which also gives me a bit of OCD because I hate knowing that there could be that absolutely perfect metal album out there for me but I just skipped it.     Dissection is one of my favorite BM band along with Naglfar (Jens Ryden-era mostly - would suggest you I Am Vengeance to start with) and Dawn (maybe The Knell And The World could be a good pick). Superb song choice. You really need to liste to the whole SOTLB album. Good react.

    edit: the first 8 tracks of the Somberlain album and anything from 2 album is worth of reaction.
    Reinkaos is awesome (i love it), but due to different style is not as much appreciated as the previous albums (im talking about average opinion, not all of the fans), so you can go with any song.
    Just some recommendations.
    in the end any song reaction would be appreciated 😀

    I saw them live touring with dismember back in the days. My hometown is not far from Gothenburg. It was epic! This is one of my favourite songs with them. Maximum respect for checking them out even though you’re kind of late to the party 🤘😉🤘

    I had the privilege to meet the guys before a concert because I drove the singer of an opening band in Salzburg (or Graz, I forget). Amazing show. Amazing guy. Nicest guy you could imagine. Damn what a show.
