    So true about the torque as a newbie or not it definitely keeps you VERY alert

    I got a 23 xsr700 as my first bike. I believe taking a course and having a leveled head will help in learning how to ride any bike. Im a bigger guy so a 300cc was out of the question for me lol I also understand that not everyone thinks/responds/process things the same.

      The bike is great, but for a beginner it can be a bit to twitchy.

    It's amazing. I just bought a 2023 MT-07 in Matte Raven Black as a first bike and i wouldn't change a thing.

      Congrats man! It is an awesome bike. It feels a bit too torquey at low end for what I need it to do :). But it is an extremely fun bike.

    I'm still very unsure about which bike that I am going to get as my first. My plan is to take the MSF course first to gauge my skills and hopefully be good enough for the MT-07.

      The MT is a great bike, but not very good on high speeds on windy days. But if you will ride more in the city it is great. I wouldn't take it as a first bike, the throttle can be a bit too twitchy for a beginner with a lot of torque. As a second bike it would be great. I would buy a used cheap bike 400-500cc as a first bike to master throttle control and also you will likely drop it. I took the msf course and bought an R3 after, dropped it on an uphill that I had to slow down to turn into parking garage. I learned throttle control fast, but at slow speeds when doing sharp turns, specially sharp slow turns on an uphill, it is very easy to drop it.

    What if one were to have the ECU flashed to make it less powerful/torquey? Perhaps put its performance specs closer to those of an MT03, maybe a little higher to accommodate the 07's heavier weight. Would doing so make it more beginner friendly?

    • @newbierides
      @newbierides  Před 27 dny

      I wouldn't do that, I believe if there's a way to do an ECU flash to have a more linear power instead of a really strong pull at low rpm it would make it a bit more beginner friendly. But I wouldn't tune it down to have less power. It is a lot more power than the mt03 but not much bigger. So size won't make much difference

      I kinda like the new one too. This one was upgraded with LED lights, so it works great, even tho I don't really ride at night.

    it's been quite a while when 300 cc's are considered beginner bikes.

    This bike has alot of torque but it's slow asf for 700 cc naked.I started on a ducati hypermotard 950(I'm 6'7) and my wife started on a mt07 (she's 5'9).Starting on a lighter,smaller cc bike is a better idea but we wouldn't do anything differently 😊

      To each it's own experience. I'm glad I started on a Yamaha bolt instead of this, super heavy but easy to flat foot and super forgiving power delivery. Once I got used to that, maneuvering this bike was so easy. I still suck at u turns lol It is possible but if one can avoid and start on a more forgiving bike I believe that is always a better idea.

      Haha we all go through those steps, no reason to be embarrassed. I have been ridding for a few months now and have a couple thousand miles of experience, but still mess up a lot every now and then.

    • @newbierides
      @newbierides  Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@builder481 what helped me the most was taking the bike on slow twistie roads, that helped me have more control on slow turns and helped me know the bike, like gear range, when to shift gears and stuff. If possible away from cars would be the best. Once you get the basics and slow speeds, then getting on the highway is easier.

    Learn to do clutch and throttle control, anyone would be fine on any bike. Even on a low CC bike, if the person has not been properly told how throttle and clutch work, they can hurt themselves. And please learn to ride a bicycle first, for crying out loud, some people try to ride a motorcycle and never ridden a bicycle is out to kill themselves or others

    • @newbierides
      @newbierides  Před 8 dny

      Yes, but I think you missed my point. The video was more intended to pass information for people who wants to just go out and buy a bike. When I got this bike I had decent clutch control, and had an R3 and an Yamaha bolt before, but beginners make mistakes every now and then. Without clutch control I agree any bike is dangerous, but a 300cc will be more forgiving as it doesn't give out as much power as a bike like this. Also the video is just from my experience, some people might have better control than I had and will be just fine starting on a bike like this haha. I'm glad I didn't tho, I would rather start on the R3 or bolt
