    Thanks, we've had this problem for roughly 12 years now and the only solution we've found was tapping on the back of the TV and 90% of the time the lines went away. I tried this trick and it was gone. My HDMI cable inputs aren't located in the same area as yours are but it still worked. I'll keep you posted on the longevity of this fix. THANKS!

    The reason this works momentarily is because after awhile the solder connections begin to come frail and start cracking. It will work for awhile but will eventually make things worse. You can bake the board in your regular oven at 385 for 10 minutes and it will reflow the solder connections for a longer duration. But still a good tip to keep more people out of the back where high voltage can hurt or even kill someone that doesn't understand electronics.

    • @xjrod504x
      @xjrod504x  Před 4 lety +2

      Communities End Yes, that is correct. The solder joints for the port will fail over time causing the port to loosen and pull away from the board. The result of the poor connection is the colored vertical lines that appear in this video. I wish I still had the tv because I would have created more of an instructional video on how to fix this. I only uploaded this video to show potential buyers the condition that the tv was in. Didn’t realize this many people would come across it and find it helpful!

    • @xjrod504x

    You can order replacement hdmi chips and solder in a new one.. This may work for a while but eventually the hdmi will end up breaking or shorting out the TV. My RCA lcd TV did the same thing.. You'd think they would come up with a method to make them more resistant to breaking over time but TVs are a dime a dozen so I guess it doesn't really matter I guess..

    • @06junebug
      @06junebug Před 3 lety

      Jared Robert Hi Jared! Very nice of you to respond. I bought my Samsung “55” Curved HDTV at Best Buy in 2016! I just got it paid off this year, and this happens! 🤨 I have never had any problems until now! Here’s some info:
      Model No. UN55KS8500FXZA Curved.
      S/N 05k33CDHA07719X
      Version No. AA02
      It’s UltraHD Premium Quantum Dot Color
      HDR 1000 MR 240 Smart HUB 4 HDMI
      8000 series.
      I am trying to copy you some photos of the Vertical lines and the back of the TV Panel I took off, but, somehow they won’t copy! I have a iPhone so I selected a video I took and two photos and it won’t paste! Annoying! I have no idea why...I will keep trying! I only had a two year warranty on it, so the Geek Squad told me they will only fix it under warranty. I called Samsung and they referred me to Alpha Electronics in my city of South Bend, Indiana. I cannot even get my remote to bring up the Menu for Troubleshooting! The remote works and I have sound, but, no picture!
      I have seen several CZcams videos on what might be causing the vertical lines. Most say to replace the T-con board or it may be a blown panel. I would need a tech to come out and do that! I put the TV together but taking it apart is not a good thing for me to do. If you can help. I would appreciate your input. I have no idea what the tech cost would be. Have not called for a quote. If it’s going to be too much, I will have to buy another TV. It crazy! It’s only 4 years old! I paid $1, 176.99 for it!
      I look forward to hearing from you soon!

    • @xjrod504x
      @xjrod504x  Před 3 lety

      Thank you for all of the info, and I totally understand what you are saying. It can be very frustrating to pay someone to fix electronics and unfortunately many will overcharge if they feel you don't have the knowledge to challenge them.
      Based on what you said, it does seem that it is most likely an issue with the T-con board. I believe the only other explanation would have been a loose HDMI port such as the one in my video. I'm sure you have done this by now, but I will include it for clarity.
      STEPS TO CHECK FOR BAD HDMI CONNECTION:
      Turn the TV on. Have someone watch the screen as you apply light pressure to each of the HDMI ports individually. If any of the ports feel loose or if the picture changes any as you press on the port, it is likely an issue with the solder connection to the main board. If none of the ports are loose and applying pressure shows no change, it is likely that the T-con board is the issue.
      I will look to see if the T-con is available for a fair price online. If so, it isn't too hard to change out and can be done by anyone that is somewhat handy.

    • @06junebug
      @06junebug Před 3 lety

      Jared Robert Thank you Jared! I will try that again. I called Alpha Electronics and he said they were currently not going into homes to fix TV’s. He told me I would have to bring the TV to them. No way am I able at this time to carry my 55” TV to their shop! I don’t have the box it came in, plus, I would have to pay someone to take it there. That would cost more money. He told me they charge a $50 fee to test the TV. He said it could be one of these issues:
      1) Main Board
      (2) Screen
      (3) One Connect Box
      I told him about what you had done with the bad HDMI connection. He said that’s a temporary fix, but, you will still have to fix the problem eventually. At least it would be a fix instead of buying a new TV. He told me my Samsung would be expensive to fix, could run up to $400. He told me it is better to buy a new one. At this point, I am thinking about a new one, but, if I could fix this one for a reasonable price it would be worth it to me. It is still like a brand new TV. I cannot believe these TV’s today that don’t last more than 4 years! The guy from Alpha Electronics was very knowledgable about TV’s. We talked about the new Samsung Qled compared to the LG OLED since I wanted one of those when I bought my current TV. He said the LG OLED was still having this one issue since he works on them and suggested I go with the Samsung QLED.
      I am a senior and retired. I have no family myself, no sons, and my Sister and her husband are another state away. I can do some things ok electronically, the simple fixes, etc. but I have to hire people to do most. There is an app called Thumbtack that I used once to have my sofa removed from my apartment. It cost me $150! They have pros that you can hire for all kinds of projects. Some charge $60 to $80 an hour. I have not found one for TV repair. Only computer repair. I will keep searching!
      Thank you so much for your efforts in trying to help me. We all need DIY projects to save money. You should charge for your consultation! I would pay you if you fixed my TV! Your kind to give help on CZcams. I will try the steps for a Bad HDMI Connection you listed. I will give you an update soon!

    What if my doesn’t have those little things to push should I just put my hmid plug in instead

    • @xjrod504x
      @xjrod504x  Před 10 měsíci

      Yes, the hdmi plugs are what I am pushing on. These lines on the tv often happen when one of the hdmi ports are loose. Pushing it in will often temporarily fix the connection and allow your tv to work as normal.
      Don’t push too hard because we don’t want to break anything that isn’t broken. But try to press on each of the hdmi ports and have someone watch to see if the lines are changing at all when you press on them. If one of the ports causes the lines to change at all, it is likely the cause of the problem. It isn’t a guarantee that it will work but it may help you get more use out of the tv before having to purchase a new one.
      I hope this works out for you!

    Yeahh, there are none of those strips you pulled out on ours. And, what to do when grandson threw the remote at it and it does what yours shows? There are no cracks in tv, but there is in tv protective screen.

    I just have to try this. For almost everyone to say it worked, it should for me too. I will come back with result.

    What button are you pressing?

      Femie Day It’s actually the HDMI port that I’m pushing on, not a button. This issue is usually caused by a loose HDMI port, so pushing on it will help temporarily improve the connection and usually fix the lines on the screen.

    It worked... but due to covid19, it was furloughed.
    But really,
    ...Opened up TV and made a plastic plate to put over the 1 of the hdmi ports for light but permanent back pressure on mainboard once the rear cover was reinstalled...

      Thanks for the comment! Glad this could help you out a little bit. You definitely got a little laugh out of me on your first comment too!
      The plastic plate is a pretty awesome idea! Wish I would have thought of that before I sold this TV but oh well. I hope your solution holds up and gets you a lot more life out of your TV!
