  • Let's take a look around the Brew City Garden for the final update of our collaboration series. It's been a heck of a year for the Brew City Garden as well as for all the other channels who participated in the bale gardening collaboration this year. Everyone has varied degrees of success and failure but I think that everyone agrees that bale gardening is an easy and very productive gardening method in which we will all gladly try again!

Your straw bale garden kicked some major butt this year buddy! I have no doubt you shall return on at your new home with another amazing garden for next year. Thanks for adding me into this mix my friend. Always happy to help others learn how to use straw bales for a great garden. Hope you have a great weekend my friend!

Your garden did absolutely fabulous. I'm still super jealous. I love this technique and thank you so much for teaching me.

I will continue to do straw bales. It was a slow start, but it finally started paying off. We are already beginning to get another section ready for next spring.

I have been watching all of you with this method, and it dawned (so I'm a bit slow on this uptake, lol) on me that this is actually also a good raised bed method of gardening. It would cut down on the cost of building and maintaining the raised beds, and another thing that I thought about, was with the want and need to change the design and layout (in an architectural/french gardening way - which is what I'm going to, next year) of a garden. This would give me the ability to change my designs and layouts every year, and I think that I might try this in a small area of my property, to see how I fare against my traditional gardening, and still add in a small formal and architectural garden area. You've given me some thoughts and ideas, so thanks! I'm happy that you had such a bountiful season! - Mandy

I am so happy to hear this. It's exciting to see other's try by my example. I have found that most people who try this method tend to expand their bale gardens the following growing season. The broken down straw is also an amazing amendment to add to existing gardens. It's really a win win gardening method. Unfortunately, this method really only makes sense for people who have easy access to straw but if you are lucky enough to be near an agricultural area it's a great option. Thanks for following and supporting the channel!

Mrs NG and i were just talking about how the worm tower beds for us have been the mosy productive bed out of all the beds we are experimenting with. You just have to find your comfortable growing method.
Great update on the straw bale garden. Going to see if I can do one at my parents garden since we dont have the space here in our backyard.
    Stay blessed.

Your garden looks fantastic Opie! I only planted tomatoes and peppers -- both did very well and are still going.

I'm going to try straw bale gardening at a small scale next year to see how it works out for me. Btw, I also had the best pepper harvest ever here in Michigan too. Lots of peppers with good size to them. I also grew swiss chard in march and I'm still getting swiss chard here in september

  • @NICHOLSRETIREMENTEMPIRE
