  • Ancient is one of those early Norwegian names that were known well in the 90's but which didn't to get as big as some of the other bands. In this interview we talk about a murder tied to Ancient's music, Jesus Christ (you'll understand why when you watch the interview), Norwegian black metal and much more. Hop in!

A really interesting interview to see. I really loved early Ancient, never heard an Aphazel interview live. He seems such a nice and weird laid back guy. I would have loved he had gone deeper in his reasoning, I’m interested in the logic behind these changes of heart, but for me his arguments seemed way too superficial the way he put them. Such a cool one, Jerry!

Night Visit and Proxima Centauri albums have the best production in extreme metal. Amazing albums, its a bit of a shame that people only appreciate the early simplistic pure black metal style of Svartalheim. I understand why Ancient only seem to play those early albums nowadays since people remember them by that style. Shame that the metal community is not open minded because the true Ancient gems were made in the late 90s early 2000s

@@MoonlightRitual The Litourgiya album is a mockery, yes. I used to be an eastern orthodox (Well, officially I was. Never was one for real), because here we have a state church and my father's family is from Karelia from where the majority of Finland's orthodox christians are from. So I was baptized. And therefore I know about these things.
Anyway, the album cover has a picture of an icon where the faces are blurred, which is extremely blasphemous. Also, the robes they use(d) on stage has inverted crosses on them and I remember watching a live video where the singer does the sign of the cross, but the cross is again inverted. I'm sure there's more details like that but those are the ones I have noticed myself.
