Especially with how authoritarian America has been getting, I was expecting to hear some horrible things in this video. Was surprised at how liberal and fair the laws there are! Almost makes me feel bad for NYC: If I want to see parts of America burn to the ground, it's the authoritarian states / cities whether the far-left or far-right ones.
Hey John,
I live in Canada and I recently just went on a trip to nyc for my second time. I used a lot of these videos to plan this trip and I had lots of fun, for example I went to those wooden escalators in Macy’s. thank you!
Jon there really is no other place in the U.S and the world in general like NYC !
You always keep it fresh and interesting. Great job Jon.
I appreciate that!
Speaking of getting married at the courthouse. I had the privilege of being the wedding photographer at the Brooklyn courthouse. It was so wonderful. I will never forget it.
Sounds fun
Eating your pizza unfolded will get you a night in the slammer. Eating your pizza with a fork and knife is a felony. Enjoy your stay in NYC.
😂😂😂 I missed this joke
So true.. My 11 yr old son followed the NY rules Of eating the pizza.
Excellent information! Everyone who lives in or visits NYC should watch this video!
In England you cannot do anything on red. Red means stop. You can’t turn or left or right you have to wait for the light to go green.
Great video! Thanks for sharing this information! I ❤NY
Service animals are dogs that are trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities.
Examples of tasks performed by service dogs:
Guiding people who are blind
Alerting people with seizure disorders
Pulling a wheelchair
Learn about agencies and schools that train and provide service animals.
Licensing and Certification
All dogs in New York City must have a valid dog license issued by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH). This includes service dogs.
There are no other license or permits required for service dogs. The American with Disabilities Act (ADA) does not require state or local certification for service dogs. DOHMH does not issue service dog tags or proof that an animal is a service dog.
By law, businesses open to the public must allow service animals to accompany people with disabilities in all areas where the public can go. This is regardless of whether the dog is wearing a service tag or not.
Businesses can ask if a dog is a service dog and what task the dog performs. They cannot ask for any proof of disability or service animal certification.
Great video and good for people to know. 😎
It’s fascinating how laws are made and interpreted around the world. I found this video very informative and easy to watch…❤❤
He was exactly right about J walking. I lived on Queens Blvd and there were a few deaths and they actually called Queens BLVD the BLVD of Death . Never forget I was Jay walking Queens Blvd a few months after 9/11 and a squad car called me over and explained what I was doing was wrong and I said wait people are knocking down buildings and you're worried about Jay walking. Both officers started laughing and didn't give me a ticket but told me to be careful
Liked this video and the non typical content very much!
super helpful video!!!
I transplanted to Indiana and when I come back always turning right on red, I will not be doing that any more . Thanks for the heads up.
Hi John. I spent 2 full days (3 nights) in NYC again. I arrived in Houston, TX yesterday. Tulsa, OK next week. Take care.
Very nice!
Nice! Cool video!
Interesting. Thank you.
Hi John! Great resource as always. Right now I'm in Chelsea bringing my youngest daughter for the first time and having a blast. Missing the Patreon chat and i hope your family is doing well, saludos!

The marijuana laws in NYC are crazy. It’s like the Wild West compared to most other state.
Idk how well CZcams’s gonna promote that thumbnail
This is a list of things you can't do in New York City. You have the title exactly wrong.
😅
This is America! You can DO whatever you want... UNTIL YOU GET CAUGHT!
And that Mary Joana law is crazy. There are people selling huge plastic bags of weed in the streets. But i cant buy a fuckn beer at a kiosk. To me as a german its extremely weird
Towards the end of our US tour last year we got on the NY subway and were joined by a busker with a full size amp (like a concert amp) who started rapping. We moved to the next car to get away from him and ofc he moved too. At this point poor Frog (who is severely autistic) lost the plot and told him to "shut the f*** up" which probably isn't the best career move. We lived to tell the tale though.
At least it wasn't "SHOWTIME" on a crowded Q train
But it's legal for criminals to carry guns?
But you can't have one for self defense?
Squatters are trespassers?
No, whoever is carrying a gun that’s not supposed to be carrying is doing it illegally.
@@PapeySapote Have you watch the news?
Criminals get away with a slap on the wrist.
@@saulgoodman2018I live here. People are still being convicted. You seem to think that released without bail means that there are no follow up court dates. Although I do disagree with the bail reform, criminals aren’t legally carrying guns and still will get convicted when caught with an illegal gun.
@@PapeySapote Like I said, criminals are getting away with a lot of stuff.
@@saulgoodman2018no yo didn’t say that. You said they’re legally carrying guns, they’re not, and if caught they’re convicted for the most part.
As far as drones, check the permit requirements. I know in DC, they arent allowed as the city is a no-fly zone but you can get a permit in some cases.
The most NYC thing I've seen was some lady jaywalking in front of a giant NYPD convoy while they were honking and yelling at her to get out of the way.
I mean, going on red in the UK is illegal unless there's a filter green telling you to go.
Its a minor offence like in the US.
@@DjCastOne1no it’s not minor if you got caught you’d get points on your licenses and 12 points is a drivers ban
@mrsbabycakes5551 points is classed as minor in the UK unless you have 12. Most people have had some points on their licence at some point here 😀 you would only get banned if you had 12 you would have to be a pretty bad driver to get to 12 points anyway. Its hardly murder is it 😀
That's right. For anyone going to the UK and is thinking of driving, you cannot drive through a red light under normal circumstances. You can turn right at red in Paris.
Being topless, both women and men is legal in NYC.
Really?! 😮😂😂 Wow! Has any woman tried this?
@@tmn8547 Yes. Penn State swimmer Lia Thomas.
Very informative! So cool that nyc has dog friendly bars! Have a wonderful day
Gonna try speed running these when I visit next week
Thumbnail is unhinged lol
😂😂😂😂

Re. photos in public: don’t know if it’s still the case, but post 9/11 I remember signs on the GW Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge support structure saying “ photography prohibited “
I'm surprised you chose China instead of the UK when giving an example of being locked up for an opinion.😂
Wow walking across Queens Boulevard put the fear of God in you that’s the only place I can never jaywalk.😂
Great Video as usual but one thing about the marijuana laws , although it is legal / illegal state by state , it is STILL ILLEGAL federally , Thus you can still be in trouble with U.S. authorities , such as Customs , Border Patrol , A.T..F. , F.B.I. etc. Federal Law supersedes State Law so while State and local Police won't bother you , Federal authorities may .
Yes!
they haven't enforced legal state marijuana in like 10 years, this is really only an issue to worry about if you are one of the people with the illegal smoke shops, or you are a massive supplier. The feds aren't going after random consumers in legal states anymore. Just don't bring any on your plane and buy it in the city, it's everywhere.
Believe me , if you are crossing the U.S. Border at any LEGAL entry point or have any other reason to interact with Federal Agents you are better off denying you've ever touched marijuana let alone be carrying it .
I tried to pay the subway in Oslo last summer, bus from the airport and then the subway to the next bus.
No Turn Styles, no nothing, had to take the Subway for free.
I couldn't pay the bus ticket with my debt card or cash, only order ticket through my phone, can't believe I made it, because my phone was not proper online.
@HereBeBarr, might be helpful to mention you need a permit for drones.
NEW YORK GREAT WORLD FOR A CRIMINAL 😮
Topic #1 eliminates my EVER residing in NYC.
So pretty much everywhere you might need a gun you can't carry one. That makes no sense. You think that "gun free zone" sign is gonna stop a criminal looking to do no good? That's fuct up.
He is a nice guy and explained it so very well, even as a foreigner I understood it all. But regarding #9, I bet you need the Anzeigenhauptmeister over there to enforce this :D
It's over 29 nights, Jon
please remove the airbnb ban in NYC. a person should be able to rent out their spare bedroom is a safe and reasonable manner. feel free to grab anyone who jumps faregates.
Proud to live in the Free State of Georgia where my 2A right is not restricted.
Important note in regards to service animals: in the US, business owners and employees can legally only ask you two questions. Those questions are "Is this a service animal?" and "What service do they provide?" If someone can answer both questions, their animal cannot be denied entry. If anyone tries to claim they need to see documentation, they are lying and should be reported to the local government
People can lie about having a service dog then?
My dog provides free plate cleaning services.
@@PapeySapoteThey lie a lot of the time. out here in the west everybody brings their dogs into grocery stores, resteraunts, clothes shopping, etc. its nasty - and most of them are not service dogs
Nobody would lie about a service 🐕🦺 Stop asking
@@bobbyjohnsonshow You'd be surprised at how many PPL lie about having service dogs.
i am aware that while in a public place you can be filmed and you have no ownership of that image. but if i ask you to stop filming, can that be enforced?
I was looking over a book that focused on the trends during the Hippie years. Naturally, there are a few pages on Woodstock. I turned the page and there was a large photo of a completely naked young female. To my shock, it was me! Over the years since I found this photo around 2007, I have shared it with a few close friends and every one of them tell me I can sue the editor or publisher or someone for posting this photo of me without my permission. I really can't see how the person who took the photo of me, would be able to find out who I am. Can I sue?
Contact a lawyer, good question!
Young white girl with a gun in the thumbnail, so NYC 👍
But for the drones is absolutely different story, would be great if you can tell us about it
oh wow, i didn't even think about the drone laws! good one.
Ok so if you can take photos of anyone in Times Square for free, how does that relate to the characters that charge you to take photos? So can you freely take their photo?
Can you fly drone?
Just got back from NYC. The stink of marijuana is bad. Its everywhere. 🤢
Actually Amazon will NOT ship a lot of knives to NY addresses.
I forgot how those gun free zone signs stop crime.
The criminals forgot too!
Yep those signs will definitely stop potential crime! Bad guys with guns will suddenly get a conscience and throw it away in the nearest trash bin!😂

Yea time square should have zero gun crime if it's a gun free zone!
New Yorkio jokio 😂😂😂😂
What good is having all these rules when the authorities don’t enforce them
I need to move to Paris then bc I hate it here in NYC
Yet criminals is 90% easy to get, and can bring anywhere. (Pistol)
I heard that if you visit NYC with a tourist visa, you are not allowed to consume marijuana even if NY state is legal to use.
Yes, the cannabis laws only apply to U.S. citizens. Never consume as immigrant or on a visa.
Colleen and I want to stay in your home for 31 days!!
😒
LOL. almost nothing gets you arrested in NYC now.
you guys are sooooo far over it. But i love you
Dogs in bars now, huh? I guess it's been awhile since I've been out!
the weed smell is so awful around town lol .. its so overpowering, and its like everywhere, i cant stand it lol
those gun free zones are barely enforced
For all the rules and laws about guns in NYC, there sure seems to be a lot of gun violence.
First amendment, unless you're KJP, who does not like the first amendment.
🙏🙏❤️
Gun confiscation worked really well for the Germans, Cambodians and the Soviets.
Only saying that armed people just won’tget on the trains.
So sad to see jewish hateful speech even in the context of nyc tourism

to be able to smoke a joint in public is just one the reasons I moved here

Tenants rights is human rights
NYC sucks !!
Sounds like new yourk try to be civilized about guns, like the rest of the world.
WHOAH! Those people protesting on the brooklyn bridge have aright to defend Palestine.
It shouldn't be easy to carry a concealed weapon. background checks and safety classes are Common Sense rules.NYC has it Right.
No they don’t have it right. They make it a headache and nearly impossible for law abiding citizens to get and carry a firearm.
Your tenant landlord bit sounded a lot like you're privileged and it shows.
HOW? Squatters should not have any rights. They do not own the property. It have nothing to do with "privilege".
you wouldn't make it in ny
Jew
Ironic since NYC has some of the most shootings =]
I thought you’re gonna say looting and vandalism 😂
Always wanted to visit, only thing that makes me thick twice is being picked out just because of being muslim. I've heard plenty of stories since the muslim ban was first put in place and even after the presidency changed. Just not sure it's worth risking my money to be turned back from somewhere I may not even be welcome.
