  • Welcome Back TIP SQUAD!! This video is very important if you own a motorcycle and in my case a Harley-Davidson Road Glide. You don't want to get stranded or stuck on the road so change this part out now. I'm talking about replacing your stock shifter linkage to a stronger more durable one. Trust me it's not about if but when it will fail. So please change it out as soon as possible. It's a quick easy upgrade as you will see in my video. I hope you enjoy the video and until next time see ya!! #harleydavidson #motorcycle #roadglide #streetglide

    I was warned of this failing the day I was buying my RGS. Good to see you wearing gloves doing this job because those engine fins are very sharp and so many people get cut changing their shift linkage. I bought the Harley brand and it came with a shim for the rear to offset the linkage more to help align it with the front.

    Aye Aye... great tutorial. I commented on Wood Jr. video once telling him to change that immediately, but he went back to the dealer and they told him not to worry. I speak from experience of having one of those fail on me. Had to ride 40 miles in 3rd gear to the nearest dealership to pick one up. To top it off I had no tools in my bags and harley wanted to charge me $150 to install it. So i had to find the nearest Kragen (at the time) and borrow wrenches from them. To make a long story short, please listen to what this you lady is telling you guys. That 20 to 30 dollar part will leave you stranded somewhere if you don't replace it!

    • @BIGROOSTASHOW
      @BIGROOSTASHOW Před 4 měsíci +1

      @boxer6262004 that whole piece wears after kicking so many gears. It's almost like a ball bearing pressed into the another piece of metal. You can eyeball and tug on it, but eventually it's gonna fail. So I suggest you either buy a spare or change to the type with eyebolts on both ends. There's almost no way to tell until it fails. And when it does you will go to change gears and the bar will be laying on the primary. Hope this helps

    Hey. I wanted to give you a heads up. I bought the Santoro Shift Linkage after watching this video. I took my first long road trip a few days ago. We rode from Silver Spring, Maryland to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. On the way down, the shifter linkage came unscrewed, and I almost lost my shifter. Not the part I screwed in, but the end of the shifter came out from the middle?! Luckily we were able to pull off in a gas station. Screw it back in and get some Loctite to reinforce it. But it was pretty scary, especially for my first long ride. Just wanted to share the experience as an FYI.

    Look up "harley shifter with heim joint". Better to know why you're replacing it, other than because "you heard", "someone said", "it's gonna break" or "just do it". I've never had a stock shifter fail, but do know they do , do know what to look for, and do know how to temporarily fix to get my, or a friend's bike home. That said, I change mine out for style, as well as dependability of the heim joint style, so you're not wrong. Good info, just missing the major point that many of your viewers asked about. 👍
