    Hi SonoGes fam!
    You ask, I give!
    Today we have 5 interesting ultrasound cases.
    I briefly explain each exam, what I found, and how I write the report.
    A few things to remember:
    Working in a hospital you get all different types of patients. Many will be in pain, unable to breathe, cough, unable to stay still, and won't be able to assist you in your exam. As a sonographer it is our job to take the best quality images of the body that we can, but in MANY instances you will have to be happy and confident with the images and what you can get. Don't be defeated when you can't get the image/ organ perfect. As long as you get the images you need, the answers you need for the doctor, and you take care of the patient...that's what is most important.
    My ultrasound images are showing much brighter on the video than they are in person. Usually sonographic images are much darker and don't have that many bright echoes. Recording straight onto the computer makes it look brighter than it truly appears.
    Comment below if you have any questions!
    Thanks for being here and learning about ultrasound!

      Aww crystal 🤍 yay! So happy you’re gonna watch! You’ll be surprised at how simple ultrasound tech worksheets can be! Depending where you work, it’s truly not a lot of writing. It’s technically what you feel and believe, and the radiologists/doctors will ultimately write the full report that goes to the ordering physician/ patient. Don’t sweat it, wherever you do clinicals or work at will help you understand how they do their tech worksheets! ✨

    I scanned veins of both arms on a pt today and i think they had 2 sets of brachial arteries and veins in both arms. So they had 2 brachial arteries and 4 brachial veins in each arm, which is rare. I also scanned a pt about a week ago that might’ve had 2 main portal veins in the liver. One MPV was hepatofugal and the other was hepatopedal. It was odd.

They say if you can scan at this facility, you scan anywhere. We get alot of interesting cases. I scanned a 23yo patient that was a workup for a liver txp and omg, it was like their native liver was flipped backwards and upside down. Doing the duplex for that liver was wild. Took me 45min just to figure out the orientation of the liver.

    Hi! I am having a debate with a radiology manager about putting "diagnostic terms" in our reports. I have ALWAYS done this. I was trained at the hospital to put down what my opinion is no matter how obvious. In your report - gallstone, NEG for torsion, epi cysts for example are what she is considering a diagnosis. I can't find anywhere in our educational books, articles, scope of practice, etc that discusses this issue. Our worksheets we use even have these "diagnoses" on them! Kidney stone, hydro, ascites, gallstone, polyp, etc Do you have any ideas where I can find this information?

      @lolgeselle  Před 3 lety

      Hi! Yes definitely this is something we do. We always have a tech sheet. As far as discussing this issue, I’m not too sure but I can do some research for you! @@ultrasafeultrasounds yes!!!! I hear ya! It’s actually been an ongoing topic now that I think about it and is WORTH discussing! Where do we have a say in this? We are taught one way, how can we change what has been taught for years... but also do we have security for ourselves? Doctors have malpractice insurance.. do we have insurance covering us and our tech worksheets? We are the eyes.. but they are the doctors.. so how can we not describe when we are seeing what they are not.. get it?! LOL!! What a great topic for discussion, Maria!

      @@ultrasafeultrasounds Right! Many shades of gray is the perfect analogy. • @mariaallenherbert5869
      @mariaallenherbert5869 Před 3 lety

      @@ultrasafeultrasoundsDefinitely don't want the responsibility of the diagnosis nor do I feel qualified. My question is more about the worksheet. There seems to be a lack of guidance about this specific topic. Our worksheets contain "diagnosis" words that we must select or we "missed" it. My friend was disciplined for using a diagnosis word on her worksheet. Yet on that same worksheet there were no less than 5 diagnoses to choose from. It's confusing, particularly with the discipline aspect. I'm finding less is best!!
