The lead guitar on this is on another level. John is an exceptional guitar player and his voice is just right for his songs. Many more years to you John!
I am watching the video and thinking what a great guitar sound, without even paying attention to guitar. Didn't see the show is from 2013. So when I saw your comment it all made sense.
Definitely, I couldn't agree more. John Mayer is such an outstanding soloist, his creativity and musicality seems to be from another world. But there are the musicians in his band carrying him through, and above all there's this amazing drummer Aaron who seems to feel every nuance and is able to pull off the craziest expressions instantly.
John plays the phuck out of that axe. His guitars will have no music left in them when he's done with them. He will have played the notes out of them. It's close to violent, the brutality and beauty. Couldn't be more brutal if at the end he fired it out of a tank.
have to agree, I've tried to approach the PRS with an open mind and accept that it's a change in sound in his musical career, etc. But just seems inherently sub-par, despite knowing "good" is often subjective in music. Hopefully he'll come back some day. I also think the PRS is just ergonomically likely to be easier on his fingers, which have been fretting and picking away for > 3 decades now and which I'm sure he wants to maintain for as long as possible as he ages. I don't have anything to back up the PRS being easier on the fingers for bends and general responsiveness (as I haven't played the silver sky personally, yet), but just watching so many videos with it - it always feels like it's a trade off some tone goodness from the strat for ease of playing and compensate more in the note selection, etc. type of deal
2013 Mayer was something else, the guitar tone here… it’s unbelievable

John Mayer always delivers a magnificent Slow Dancing, one of his most epic tunes. Love it

With that going down the road feelin' bad outro start, you can't go wrong.
Watching John Mayer live is on my bucket list! Hopefully he is in New England in the near future. Definitely top 3 musicians on my list!
Aaron playing off of john rhythmically in this is so perfect 5:56

Are you going to upload more from this show now that the audiofile is public?

no matter how many times I watch JM show, I still think Fender have 100x better tone than PRS.
Literally sat here thinking the exact same
Totally agree !! 👍
You can’t improve on the originator of the sound huh!

Well comparing any new guitar to a hand picked 1964 strat is hardly a fair comparison
Nice one👍 try some of mine 🙂
😢😢😢😢😢
Fender sounds a way better than PRS. Change my mind if U can😊
