- Hey everyone! As the title says...we finally found the Venus Puppies when going to yet another Ad Astra planet and despite being adorable they indeed bite. We also started Mekanism which I can't wait to get further into in the coming episodes.

Hi! I dont really comment here much but here are some tips for when you eventually do botania.
After you unlock the runic altar try and get the rosa arcana, it absorbs player xp to make lots of mana.
Another really good flower to have early game is the gourmaryllis, it eats food and produces mana for longer periods depending on the foods nutrition: the food also has to be alternated when fed.
2 trinkets you should prioritize getting are the cirrus amulet and the sojurners sash: the amulet allows you to double jump and eventually triple jump when upgraded. The sojurners sash increases the players speed, jump height, and fall damage resistance by using mana. The sash can also be upgraded into the planestriders sash which makes you faster depending on how long you walk for: aswell as the globetrotters sash which is basically just a better version of the sojurners sash. After you beat gaia and get the gaia spirits get the cloak of virtue first, it blocks all incoming damage every 10 seconds and doesnt use any mana. Theres also a really cool item called phantom ink: it allows armor and trinkets to become invisible when put in a crafting table. Lastly theres some other really cool trinkets like the ring of odin that adds an extra 20 health to the user, or the flügel tiara that allows for creative flight for 30 seconds and some really cute customizable wings. I hope any of these tips help you down the line while you do botania. Goodluck!

In regards to RS vs. AE2 and the NBT storage issues, I still use RS as my main system due to the simplicity it offers and the simplified auto-crafting it brings and have a small AE2 system where I store my heavy NBT items (armor, weapons, spell scrolls, spawners etc.) There is also a mod called Reborn Storage that adds a multi-block structure that scales for auto-crafting. Normally, you would need to create many netherite crafters to store your numerous crafting patterns. With the multi-block structure, you store them all in one place :)
However, you asked about a "simple" AE2 crafting setup and here is what I recommend:
You will need 2 "structures" to make auto-crafting work:
(1) Crafting Storage/Co-Processor Tower
(2) Assembler/Pattern Provider Tower
For #1 I would recommend a 1x1x4 tower consisting of 1 64K Crafting Storage and 3 Crafting Co-Processing Units. These can be stacked vertically on each other in any order.
For #2 I would recommend a 2x2x4 tower consisting of 8 Pattern Providers and 8 Molecular Assemblers. Place 2 Pattern Providers diagonal from each other and 2 Molecular Assemblers in the opposite spots. This will make a 2x2. Then alternate by adding Pattern Providers on top of the Molecular Assemblers and vice versa. Build this tower up 4 tall.
#1 will only require 1 channel, while #2 will require 8 channels. I recommend a dense cable coming off your ME Controller and you can connect it to the bottom of both structures. If you want a picture, I can get you one quickly, just need to know the best way to post/send it.
If you want simplicity, I would strongly recommend using RS as your main system and have a small AE2 system for the NBT heavy items. That way, you can easily build/scale with RS and not have to worry about cable/channel management.

As much as I don't want to throw in the towel with AE2 I've become so comfortable with RS auto crafting (and my wonderful netherite crafter) that I kind of want to do the same thing as you because if Captain Automation does it then I feel less bad about switching back. xD So I guess I have some considerations to go over before I record tomorrow. lol

I just looked up in my world to see how I make refined obsidian dust ... you take normal obsidian dust and run it through a metalurgic infuser with diamond ... to get the refined obsidian dust

about the globes ... I too want all the globes .. and am frustrated with only having two ... I found reference to the wandering lunarian trader selling them so make a spawner for the dude ... and killed many dozens after checking out their trades ... and saw no sign of a globe trade ... so sigh ... still sitting here wanting the globes but not having any idea how to get them
the cute rams from the frozen planet (?) ...can't remember the planet name even though you just said it minutes ago ... lol ... they eat the frozen tundra from their planet ... and can be bred with the same tundra if you want more

Wow. Ad Astra got trimmed big time! I recall seeing other play-thrus of various packs and there were like 8 tiers of rockets. And, IIRC, you had to visit each planet and find the plans for the next tier of rocket on that world. And I'm pretty sure Desh was found on Mars.

He goes thru it in episodes 87 - 92. It was MUCH more complicated.

Hmmmm... there's really no "simple" AE2 setup comparable with RS. It starts as simple, like RS, but grows because of the channel limitation. By the time you have something 'decent' that'll actually help, its a spaghetti monster. I might be alone in this but I would suggest starting AE2 only in your permanent base. AE2 is the kind of thing you will only want to build once. 🤔

Glacio! From my episode 1!! 😇 I forgot Galacticraft was the one with the dense metal plates and cyclical crafting. Happy to see you got through all of Ad Astra without having to build some extra stuff. That said...
I figure you're planning to do the same with Mekanism as you did with AE2 - batch craft thousands of the base components and craft-craft-craft the higher machines til you run out, rinse and repeat. But Mekanism is a bit of a monster, you know? I would suggest learning how to automate AE2 by automating Mekanism with it. This will teach you how to automate anything in the future, added bonus suddenly Mekanism becomes a breeze! While you technically CAN proceed with Basic Mekanism this way, Advanced Mekanism (e.g. anything involving lithium) will not abide with batch crafting. It *will* attempt to drive you mad 🤣
To start things off, google "AE2 chandelier" and just. build. that. If you really want us to type it out in comments, I'm at least going to try and compartmentalize it and give it to you in batches so that you don't get overwhelmed. Once you have a chandelier, life should get easier from there. You'll then see what I was getting at about putting AE2 autocrafting only in your perma-base...
Really though I would prefer your did a private Discord stream, or members-only youtube stream+discord call, or even screenshot spam the discord, or heck even ask mr editor! (🙏)... whatever you feel comfy doing that will give you immediate answers. It's sooo much easier having a guru just give you the answers, as opposed to using the book and tutorial videos, which took me hours. More importantly though, a guru will be able to tell you what you can ignore! Sometimes (and I mean this with the utmost respect), you get derailed on the smallest thing 😅

Indeed! Glacio has always been my favourite Ad Astra planet (if you couldn't tell) also yes, the experience crystal full of levels that I added....lol.
I do get derailed easily but that's all part of the fun and part of my personality so that's never going to change thankfully but I do appreciate all of the tips you've left here. Once I'm streaming again I can ask in stream about how to do things if I'm still stuck but I don't mind learning through the books and guides because that's how everyone started out when learning parts of a mod they aren't familiar with and it's how I've learnt things in my off-time since I started played modded ages ago. I figured I'd ask the people always begging me to do automation to sound off in the comments since this is their time to shine but there's never any pressure to do so. It was just a lighthearted request to give me a base to work from when I look through the guides and such.
I figured AE2 would be a bit more complicated and since I know a lot about Mekanism I'll look into incorporating the two of them and as I already mentioned thank you for the info....this helped give me a bit of guidance into what to look up. :D (Also, Mr.Editor doesn't know much about MC....he's played very little so he'd be learning right along with me)

I won't object to you learning it the exact same way I did (videos and the book)! its commendable to do it legit! 🙏"AE2 Chandelier" will get you through the hard bits. Just get 1 thing to autocraft and huzzah you've done it
If you want a 'config tweak'... "AE2 on easy mode ignores the 8 channel limitation rule" so itll work a loooot more like RS if you want it to! I forget which pack it was but adding AE2 in easy mode helped a lot. Some food for thought! I personally keep the pack unchanged as much as possible but it would be a disservice if I didnt mention that the option is available
@@sisigwithrice I try to not add anything that adds any form of mechanics to a pack this size because I never know what's going to break. Plus, I'm not a quitter so I'll be diving into the full thing once I have some time to sit and watch some videos.
I'll be looking up that chandelier though..hopefully THAT'S in the pack at least.
@@Creothina Oh yeah its 'in the pack', its like someone asked you to build an "afk fish farm" .. its a bunch of blocks from AE2 that when put in a 'chandlier' configuration, makes a bunch of space so that you can... well I don't want to spoil it I like it when stuff dawns on you in the video 😅🙏

I'm most certainly not trolling 😂. Also make sure you copy over your Journey Maps folder. I'm not sure if the backup programs save that because its in the main folder and not the saves folder.

since both AE and RS has the bug with the tagged stuff (tools, enchanted books, gems ect) would it be simpler to change back to RS? as you are more familiar with it, and its simpler to use. just again have to 2 seperate storages.
if you do wish to go with AE though, the simplest form for the auto crafting is still a multi block setup, and consists of molecular assemblers (MA) and pattern providers (PP) (i ant remember if this is the new block, or if it was changed....) and the setup would just be srrounding a PP with MAs on 5 sides, as then it will be able to do 5 crafts at once.

Hmm. I think I’ve been called out. I’m just learning how to do /storage/ in AE. AE automation is beyond me at this point…😢
We all started learning things from square one so you can absolutely do it...just take your time and do it at your own pace.
