  • Hi and welcome to this episode of The Flippin DIY Mama!
My name is Bear and I am a stay at home Aussie Mama of two and flipping furniture has enabled me to afford DIY projects in the home that we are renting.
My goal for this channel is to be able to show everyone, but stay at home Mamas in particular, that you can make a small income by flipping furniture and use that money for what ever you need.
In this episode I'll be showing you how I flipped this rocking chair that I found on FB Marketplace for $35, put $15 of product into it and now have it listed for $150.
Stay tuned for an update on what it sells for!

Great job on the repairs and well done for making your own chalk paint. Nice one. You really should be wearing a mask when sanding. Mind those lungs of yours. Thanks for sharing. Ireland out (at 4:33 am - just finished stripping the top of a buffet. Am I crazy at this hour? Maybe.)

Thanks for watching! I do get a little carried away and forget the mask sometimes sorry 😆 4.33am?! You never know when inspiration is going to hit 😁❤️

@@TheFlippinDIYMama I went and did the exact same thing later on. Started sanding bits of the buffet and forgot to put a mask on! I wouldn't mind but it was sitting on the seat next to me. Once I get something in my head it must be done. The buffet has been staring at me for weeks now and I was too afraid to touch it. Previous owner caked it in paint and then really heavily distressed it in places. I thought she had blown through the veneer. Lucky for me there was about a half inch of varnish under all the paint so for the most part the veneer was saved. Four coats of stripper and a few hours with a carbide scraper to get the top of the dresser clear and there's still a few little spots left. Some work. But I'm keeping her cos she's so gorgeous. So at least I'll know and appreciate how much work went into it. Never had a decent piece of furniture in my life. Nice having a beautiful vintage piece now - well it will be beautiful when it's finished.

That sounds gorgeous! A beautiful unique piece is well worth the effort isn’t it, makes you love it all the more 😍

@@TheFlippinDIYMama Exactly. However, if I keep falling in love with pieces I'll end up in trouble! I was supposed to start my flipping side hustle with this piece. Ah well. Two dressers to do after this is done - for my son and daughter. Hopefully by then I'll have racked up a bit more experience and be more confident about putting a price on my work.
