With the 488 GTE, the results are as follows:
    FL 78 FR 83 RL 80 RR 87 on cold temps (0 degrees) 1:28.7
    FL 70 FR 76 RL 80 RR 85 on hot temps (60 degrees) 1:27.8
To be honest I didn't know if track temp really mattered before this update. They were right to focus on the Temps ofc, it's one of the realism features that ACC definitely has an edge over RF2 atm.

Who cares about having accurate temperatures honestly ?
How this is relevant for a driving simulator ?
What really matters is how is the car handling/behavior. And it still have effect on tire grip so that's the point.
This isn't a professional simulator used to set up cars.

0 and 60 degrees will both be just terrible. With temps at the literaly freezing points the tires will stay cold and scrub just as much as they will boil away at 60 degrees

Well both of those comments are why I couldn't wrap my head around completely yet.
Having accurate temps is what ACC does and showed that it has potential to add more variables to an endurance race.
The tests need to be done on a rapidly changing temperature race of at least an hour length. If realweather could replicate any of it ofc.

So the boiling hot tire was about a second faster than the ice cold tire.
Is there a way to see the tire wear after you go back to pits?

Graet vid again bud. Now one thing that's been on the forms a lot is tyre pressure. At 25 degree track temp, lowest pressures were the done thing. Now, with 45 degree + temps, and tyres that are dying quickly and overheating, does some extra pressure help to keep the temperatures lower and save the tyres over a long stint? I suspect it does. Something to bear in mind if you do that test is that driving style will be pivotal if you want to do a fair test between different pressures. Naturally the higher pressure tyres will have less grip to begin with, but you must not be tempted to over drive them to attempt to meet the low pressure lap time. After 15 laps, you may find that the higher pressure tyre is less worn and cooler than the lower pressure tyre, and possibly out performing it. This would be a much more subtle effect than your track temp experiment.

    You create amazing content!

The problem is that you have done the tests with maximum temperatures that do not exist, repeat with realistic ambient temperatures of 35-40°C, the track will be at 52-55°C

Track temperature and ambient temperature isn't the same thing. The asphalt gets a lot hotter than ambient.

I think that the ambient temp is limited to 40 degrees C (even when set to 60). It's just that they haven't implemented that in the UI yet.

Yes I did wonder about this. The Ambient temp when at track will read 60 if you have set it to that, as will the track temp. So yes may just be a UI thing that needs to be cleared up, guess they will do that when it comes to full release, at least I hope so!

Another phenomenal vid! Can anyone go in the real world measure track temp when ambient temp Is 60 celcius and report ? That's if you come back alive of course, but it is probably a tad higher than 53. While at it, measure also cockpit temp and driver temp! Will we have asphalt melting modeled in real road 3.0?

  • @bslay4r

Set the temp to 30 and if in game the weather is 30 but the track is higher then you know we adjust the weather temp and not the track temp which would be logical.
Btw does the track temp drop when it rains?
