I'm 53, but as I was growing up, I was told by my parents, as told by their parents and so on down the line, that we were Irish and German. Recent DNA tests showed mostly English, no German though. But we told everyone back in the day we were German and Irish. Does that mean I have to apologize to Germany and Ireland? I think not. I wasn't lying back then, just going by the information that I had. I think Warren was doing the same.

I am very much for Elizabeth Warren‘s run for presidency. She is an accomplished and passionate fighter for the middle and working class. She came from a humble background which is very important to understand your fellow citizens, and she made it to were she is by intelligence and dedication.
BUT: she was told by her family that somewhere along the line there was one Indian family member, like a great- great- grandmother (read her book and think that’s what she writes there).
It is utterly ridiculous to claim to be Indian with that little heritage. Even with an Indian grandmother I would feel it’s nonsense to call yourself Indian.
I want to hear an explanation from her why she put that on the bar application rather than an apology.

@@Celisar1 Technically speaking, you can have a 16th of Native American ancestry and still declare your heritage and become part of a tribe. So the relation between amount of Native American and being able to claim it, is negligible. However, that being said, if she does not have her tribal membership, she technically cannot "Claim" Native American on any federal or employment forms. Now, Considering that was 30years ago, and she was operating off the information she had at the time, I would venture to say, she screwed up, period, correct it and move on.

MsZephyra because most Americans think the president is the only thing to worry about in government. They don’t understand that voting for house and senate races are just as important. Also, if you’re worried about your community start local, talk to your city council people or the mayor. If it’s a statewide issue talk to state assembly people and state senators and/or even the governor. All of these positions are offices you should be voting people in and out of as well. School board too

(If I recall correctly, they were also in Canada because of work they were doing for the US government.) Having even one biological parent who’s an American citizen is enough for you to be granted American citizenship, no matter where you’re born.

A couple of years ago when Jon Stewart left The Daily Show, I was certain that no one would be able to fill his seat and do it justice. Trevor Noah has obviously proven me wrong. He is probably the best comedy talk show host at the moment. Everything from substance to delivery is so on point. The guy is such a breath of fresh air from TV hosts like Kimmel and the likes of him. Just adore him!

@@trevingrayek791 My step-dad was a corrections officer in Texas. There, it's a discipline issue. Refusal to comply with any regulation is dealt with through restriction of privileges. I have no idea if other American prison systems are the same. But, I doubt that any differences are drastic.
