    This engine was the first one I ever saw that just sat dead still while idling. To observe it, If it wasn't for the belt going around you might think it was not running. Wonderful midrange power, great for overtaking.

    Growing up with a lot of Toyota's from Corona to Corolla I really liked the 88 Cressida (square prestigious look) and updated 92 Cressida.
    Alas my family didn't get to buy (afford) it but ended up getting an Accord.
    Not trying to remove anything from the Cressida but the Accord was a blessing in disguise.
    The 92 Accord ended up a fantastic car FAR advanced with the contemporaries and for years later:
    First in industry modern parabolic headlights
    Practical low trunk (boot) lip entry design (opens up to the bumper not just to the plate number) for ergonomically designed for loading and unloading.
    Modern side view mirror design with folding ability and narrow post for improved blind spot reduction.
    Real electronic computer controlled fuel injection (not mechanical),
    16 valve,
    independent suspension all around,
    double wishbone design (F1 and Lambo have them to name premium models),
    Glass sun roof (not metal),
    Sunroof has a slider to enjoy the view even closed and
    4 wheel steering feature that is only now being recognized by expensive cars as NOT a gimmick (The Centenario being the first for Lamborghini).

    The Grande was essentially Lexus before Lexus was a thing. Look at the original Lexus sedans and you'll see one with almost the exact same body style. In those days, this car was thought of as being like a BMW by many. It sold in Australia for AUD$40,000, which is about $86,000 adjusted for inflation in today's money. You're looking at the monetary equivalent of an optioned out BMW 328i.

    Why is the steering wheel with airbag on the passenger side instead of the driver's side?

    A beautiful car but they do have head gasket problems I have had four and they all did a head gasket.

    • @ZCarReviews
      @ZCarReviews  Před 6 lety +1

      I really loved this car. Like you said the head gasket problem is common. I also read somewhere in the internet when replacing the head gasket it is recommended to torque the bolts higher than factory recommended value.

      Wasim Pervez I had a beautiful, everything original 1976 Toyota Celica when my wife and I started dating, Wasim. It looked like someone had put a Ford Mustang in the clothes dryer on high lol. It was only 4 cylinders but it had pep and wanted to go. Loved that little car.

      Z Car Reviews are grandes the only ones with LSD's? There are manual cressidas around me but not sure whether they're with LSD.

    • @PoopyStevens
      @PoopyStevens Před 6 lety

      None were manual from factory, so it has been transmission swapped, so probably LSD swapped as well mate. Common car to modify.

      I forgot to mention I'm from the philippines so they are mostly manuals.
