Malayalam film superstar Mohanlal, who holds a honorary Lt Colonel rank, joined the Territorial Army's 122nd Battalion at Kannur for a two-day refresher training programme.
Mohanlal said more youths should join the Territorial Army and he is honoured to be a part of this event. "It is a great honour for me," the actor said. On his arrival at the battalion, Lal was received ceremonially by the officers of Territorial Army.

He is not a role model for the young, as a person. His achievements in the field of acting has been amply rewarded. The matter should rest there and no further. Being an officer in the Army is a matter entirely different. Let not the public be fooled.
There are many young achievers in sports, Industry and in various chosen fields. Reward, encourage and promote them; that indeed is what is inspiring. Cinema is certainly not the field I have in mind

Bcz of acting in two malylm films as army officer, Hw government give the rank in "Indian Army".He is not a model for young generation... All is showing business!! Y people blindly praising these actors ..... Everyone should need a good spex to understand these people.

He's only a part of the territorial army. Not the main army and I don't think he even underwent the due process. Celebrities are added to these territorial so that it would attract more people to join it. Members of the territorial army are civilians with jobs who undergo small amount of training. They may be drafted into the army if a war breaks out or during the time of emergency. Since we have a large active force drafting these people won't be necessary.

@@davidgeorge6066 dont say foolish..jawn of the.. TA is same as to regular army there is no difference in case of officers only its being a part time service. Thats the difference and also interview level is very tough..i dont think he is eligible. There are lot candidates. Highly efficient than him why dont enrolled.. The reason is they are not celebrities
And after 20years continous services he will get all benfiets same as. Regular army

@@suryaaa2334 The reason why they give honorary positions to accomplished celebrities is because they want to attract more civilians into TA. Like you said TA is kind of a reserve force which trains civilians who already have another job. And no they are not same as the regular army, they are part of the reserve force who will only be called into duty if there is more need of troops. For example, in the event of a major war.
