I wrote a fan letter to them about a year before using song titles as parts of it. Like ill be sweating bullets til the new album comes out. 1 most likely he didnt see it. 2 he may have written victory before i sent it. 3 who cares its a cool album and a fun story for me. Cheers
Not many other bands could get away with putting out a song of lyrics just referencing other songs and albums of theirs but Dave made it work. He may be a self indulgent egomaniac but he knows how to write a song

This album was the last one where you get the "angry dave" voice, it is very distinct and definitely musical. He puts so much anger emotion into his singing and it really gets to people ( you can see your own response to this emotion in the back half of Victory ). So Far So Good probably showcases it the best, but that style always gets the blood pumpin.
So glad you reacted to Victory, it's one of their greatest songs IMO. It's like the song was a gimmick to just incorporate the titles of many of Mustaine's previous tracks into the lyrics, and yet it's still a brilliantly produced track with amazing solos. Just so FUN.
Have Cool, Will Travel makes it onto just about every mix/playlist. I'm gaining a ton of interest as you explore Youthanasia, hopefully. Victory is the last track on that album. I suggest Addicted to Chaos although I love every single track on that album.

My interpretation of this song is after dealing with addictions, being betrayed and let down by people... All the ways life kicks you down, instead of coming out a victim, emerging as a 'victory'. Love the concept, love the song and youthenasia was a pretty good album overall. And I'll NEVER get tired of seeing you or anyone else react to megadeth! As far as cryptic writings, it was a peculiar album to me because although it wasn't bad, it marked the beginning of their downward fall that culminated in risk and the world needs a hero, in my opinion. Just abysmally bad albums. I honestly left em for dead at that point. Of course they came back hard though! Another song kind of similar to victory is of mice and men off of the system has failed. I had avoided this album until recently because I hated the cover, and because everyone says Peace Sells and Rust in Peace are the only albums worth listening to. That’s some BS, I enjoy Youtanasia just as much as those other two. I also think that the bands skills had improved quite a bit since Rust in Peace. Some might be confused by that as Rust in Peace is an absolutely legendary Thrash Metal album and Youthanasia is slower and less technical. But from the improvement in Dave’s singing to all the killer riffs and the groovy drums and bass lines from Dave Jr and Nick (ofc Marty as well), I think that Youthanasia was a step up for the band. They thought so as well I’ve seen them say it in interviews. Youthanasia was the first album where Dave really let the other members give just as much input on the album as him, and I think it shows because I don’t think Dave would’ve written some of the riffs on the album all by himself, otherwise it would definitely sound much different.

Youthanasia is an overlooked album, even in the "reaction world". I have seen Et tu le monde and this song and that's about it. This album isn't as heavy, but has a diverse siundcto it. Please do more.
When I was young I thought euthanasia was about the youth in Asia. I could not understand what was so controversial about it until I found out it was assisted suicide and not young people in Aisa. When Megadeth came out with the album Youthanasia, It was quite controversial for the album cover were babies are seen hanging upside down on a clothesline.

Cryptic writings is funky idk it has a feel good effect to it. I left this in my car CD player for like a month one time.
