we were never able to pass that railroad level. That level is insane, I was 7 back then now I'm 27 and would probably still struggle. oh the memories lmao
you just need to click the button continuosly (to change the railroad) while keep dodging... and that's actually the easiest level once you know this secret... the cave is my favourite level due to darkness effect...
Agree. I have seen so many cimments about that level. Really, you just have to focus on one thing. No stearing, no jumping, just pressning one button at the right time, and a signal tells you when to be ready. You also have time for severel misstakes. Not hard at all.
I remembered this game kicking my ass as a kid. It's fun seeing it now and getting all those long lost memories back. The furthest I remember ever making it was the mine cart section.
I was 8 years old. 1996. My parents bought me a new game. I was excited but recognised that it was based on a popular cartoon series so didn't expect much. After all, Mickey Mania had been easy. On that day, I became a man. I still haven't finished the Smurfs. I lack the will, the strength, the determination.
+Anno1602player I got to act 9 when I was about 6 years old. I hated this game because of not being able to save (yeah, you got passwords that's true) and because it's though as hell. (I got it for IBM PC, almost the same as the SNES version).
The game is not hard. The game is difficult for today generation that play First Person Shooters with regenerating health, autoaim and text box that keep have to remind them what direction they need to go. I remind you that the game like Contra, Earthbound, Final Fantasy or Smurfs was played and finished by 6 year olds in the years ago. If you spend a bit more time on the game you will learn the pattern and how to play it. If you dont have patience for that....I guess you would know why its "insane difficult" for you.
i played this as a kid, around 1996, still own my copy. the game is hard, but not that hard. i remember i made it to act 11 45:23 and i remember i didnt know what to do, or the game was glitched. i was just playing the game until there, getting on the cart and die, then again die, etc.
I never even saw the volcano level. But i still remember the time i used a password to get to the snowboard level and then get to gargamel. It was great, too bad the old snes doesnt work anymore, it died.
@@Christoph8 Not really. In The Smurfs, this music sounds like a reggae. In Yoshi's Island, the Underground Theme doesn't sound like a reggae. More like an underground ballad.
I remember this game! Except... I played it on my PC many years ago. Wasn't even aware at the time there was a SNES version. Looks very good for that console. Out of all the Smurfs games that exist, I think this is the only one I truly enjoyed when I was a kid.
Replayed the game recently and was able to beat the cave, both sections. In my humble opinion, bridge, haunted lake, field, swamp ( damn this level) and cave are the hardest levels.
Had this game on SNES as a kid. Took my brother and me years of practice to finally best, although I honestly think this game is hard for all the wrong reasons. The target audience (you know, young kids) wouldn't be able to to beat it. I'll also always remember how that really peaceful level with cute ducks suddenly turns creepy at 18:00. Sure, it's quite silly, but it comes out of nowhere and definitely gave me the willies when I was five.
I downloaded this game a month ago saying: hey! it must be an easy platform game for kids. God, the first level is hell and the more you advance the more you wonder: is this a game for kids? I still think it's good and when you finish it gives you that feeling of satisfaction for finishing a game that was really hard.
@@shoujocafe Funny that you say the first level is hell; it took me way too long to figure out how to traverse those stupid puddles without slipping... If you're interested in more of these games, check out The Smurfs Travel the World. It's a sequel to this one, but more forgiving (mostly, it has its moments). I actually managed to beat that one as a kid without help.
I did manage to beat it as a kid (8 or 9 years old iirc) but it took me SO many playthroughs... and you couldn't even "save" the game. One of the more frustrating games on SNES :P much prefer donkey kong or super mario world
I actually did beat this back in the day but it's definitely not an easy game and took me a lot of practice. I loved the music and thought the boss fights were really well done though. Huge satisfaction when you finally manage to knock Gargamel off the roof at the end.
As a kid I could make it right to Gargamal but I could’nt best him, lol the rhythm of landing the birds rock on the seesaw and hitting him is a lot harder than it looks!
I don't know about you guys, but seeing Act 4, the Black Forest, and the Bzzz Fly with the Black Smurfs, it kinda gives me chills... It's literally a zombie-like infection, and it kinda creeps me out for some reason.

Don't let the blue skin and small stature fool you. All gargamel wants to do is eat, and they are being dicks to him and his kitteh. :/
Mnd Ctrl Yeah, they're mothersmurfing smurfholes.
it'ss like the very first episode of the original smurf cartoon and how badly they treated a black haired smurfette even papa smurf was bad to her!
