What does this have to do with a generation? Some of you act like people can’t have change and I’m pretty sure her mom maybe teaching her about her hair, you don’t know the child’s self esteem level, just because a child or anyone has a weave added doesn’t mean they will hate their hair. Some of you just can’t give a nice command leave people alone. Clearly the mom gave instructions and the stylist said she won’t wear the style too long.
Her natural hair is beautiful and healthy, so clearly her mom is helping her take good care of it. Getting something like this for a special occasion like a birthday is just a fun present 🤷🏾♀️
Although this is a lovely style for a little girl and she looks great, I’m not a fan of kids getting extensions. I still believe in the press and curl or braiding her natural hair at her age. She’s a beautiful little girl. She should love who she sees when she looks in the mirror.
By getting extensions doesn’t mean she doesn’t like what she sees in the mirror. She usually wears braids and she just wanted something different without us having to put heat to her hair
I don't like the "extensions" either, or the color in it! Really, I believe she wants it because she sees other little girls wearing it!

I've been wishy washy about this ever since the story came out. #1, little girl is CUTE as heck, TO BEGIN WITH, absolutely beautiful. #2, I am a white woman but can remember when my daughter wanted her butt length hair cut when she was 6. I'm ASKING if this could teach her some self love, special hair care, you know, girlie things? BTW, I let my daughter get her hair cut & used the opportunity to TEACH her about hair care, self love, etc.

No it wouldn't its hair. A white or Asian girl could have 20 inches and be seen as a innocent child and wear feminine clothes, but if a Black girl does it, she "looks too grown."

My daughter's hair was very difficult for me to control having curly hair does not prepare you for 4C hair. So when she did get into a salon she needed a lot cut off that was supposed to have been cut off a long time ago. She felt self-conscious not because of her natural hair but because of the length She got her first crochet in and came out of that salon like she was a supermodel❤

I add a little braiding hair only to the ends of my 9 year old’s hair (not long) for the beads & rubber bands just so her ends won’t break off
I do the same with my nine year old daughter. She loves her beads ….
This is the first time I seen someone this young have a full application applied. It turned out beautifully. I hope she was able to make it last a long time. I say that because she is young and I know it takes such care to do that. I think you are awesome to be able to make the parent happy and also the child. She is just plain cute, cute, cute. Not a huge fan of extensions on a child, but the smile on her face. As long as she is happy and feels good about herself that's all we can ask for. She's beautiful both without and with the extensions.
She has thick beautiful natural hair so it is obvious that her mom takes good care of her hair so I think she is okay getting something special for her birthday! I’m a life natural and I get pressed out on certain occasions because my mom always had my hair pressed and curled on those occasions.
Moms and Dads education your children and help them to build a love for their natural afro hair. My younger female cousins rock afro or twists and its great to see them embrace their natural hair.
My opinion is that children should identify with their natural beauty until they reach the age of deciding to opt out to mature style. I still ❤ your work

This looks like the old school " Shirley Temple" curls. I saw a beautician give them to a little first over thirty years ago using curling irons over fire. They were beautiful.

When I was younger I was very insecure about my hair. I hated my hair. It was shorter than every others girls hair in my class and I felt like I looked like a boy. I begged my grandmother to get me wigs and extensions and she said no because it was “too grown” I never understood how it was too grown when little girls my same age had long hair😕. If you’re kid is insecure about their hair , I really think you should listen to them.

I remember when I was about 12 and had finger waves in the front with extensions in the back. I felt a felt a good change in my mood and a boost of confidence at my young age. I wore a relaxer but my hair was not long at like all of the other girls my age. My mother still styled my hair in plaits or braids.
I think this was age appropriate and probably put a huge smile on her face.
A change in hair can be good for any age female. Even if temporary.
