It amazes me when I go to the scrapyard, how much non-ferrous stuff is in the ferrous/iron shred pile and they don’t take items to the small scales and get paid much more than dumping a truckload of mixed metals into the pile. I mean, the chunky drier or oven power cord is half the value of the appliance by itself! Take it off and get a couple more bucks! Or aluminum ladders or chairs, rims, brass faucets. Even irony aluminum pays more than just iron.
