The Houston Police Department said Eminie Hughes was last seen on Feb. 22 at about 1:40 a.m. in the 7700 block of Waterchase Drive.
Eminie was reportedly wearing a white crop top and pink joggers when she got into a dark-colored four-door Dodge pickup truck.

never these days, has always been a thing, unfortunately. Some parents just don't care enough about their children to have restrictions.
That's what wrong in some of these households, they let these kids do as they please and think nothing of it. I am curious as to what she left home for before. Kids raising themselves and thinking that they are grown-ups. No exceptions for a underage girl!!!!!!!

Pascal, I totally agree with you about the disparity in police response to a missing person/child. A full grown adult is frantically searched for after being missing for a few hours but this 12 year old is somehow not worthy of the same effort and concern? It’s wrong!!

I believe the mother needs to file a formal complaint to the state's Attorney General's office against her local PD for refusing to take the report immediately despite the girl's tender age. It doesn't matter if the kid is a suspected runaway, if they're younger than 18, you should be able to file a missing person's report immediately--a loved 1 is usually only required to wait 24hr to file a missing person's for ppl 18+. Having said that, I probably would've never mentioned to anyone that E'Manie had a history of running away, unless there was a police record of her having run away in the past, only bc cops tend to drag their feet in most missing person's cases wherein there's a history of the person pulling a Houdini.
I live in the Houston area and this is one of the largest cities for s trafficking. EVERY CHILD THAT GOES MISSING VOLUNTARILY OR INVOLUNTARILY NEEDS TO BE IMMEDIATELY REPORTED TO THE POLICE AND ON THE NEWS PERIOD!!! If it falls under the amber alert criteria then one needs to be sent out. No one knows if it’s a trafficking situation and if action is not taken then the child can be out of the area so quickly. Every child no matter race, sex or income is safe from predators. They target school kids to go after other kids for trafficking purposes. It’s really sad. I was angry when I saw this in the headlines almost a week later. Houston and surrounding county PD’s need to do better. They write missing children off as run aways. They don’t know if that run away was groomed or not. I’ve seen FBPD write off a victim as if she was making it up. It’s really f’n sad. We know it’s bad here but no one wants to report on it but our news outlets need to be talking about it. People judged me for talking to my child about trafficking and predators when she was really young. I would show her articles and videos. My daughter is now 23 and still to this day stays aware of everything going on around her. It’s never too early to discuss this topic with your children.

The dating app is not responsible for a 12 year on its site. How would they know? You can't put in any date of birth that you want, apps can't confirm that. 12 year old actions fall solely on the parents shoulders...

One thing I’ll never, ever understand about America is your police’s lack of concern for missing people of any age. 24 hours? That’s not been the case in the UK since the 60s. Even for adults, helicopters get sent up within moments of them being reported missing. A child? Police are quite literally COMBING fields/diving in rivers/knocking on doors in teams of hundreds.
She’s a known runaway so they just don’t have the same concern for kids like that.
Well,your police and social services turned a blind eye for decades to the missing victims of muslim grooming gangs in Rochdale and other cities.These victims were kids and teenagers and everybody failed them.

That’s like saying that nobody can ever give any kind of critique (whether constructive or otherwise), unless they themselves are perfect in each & every way, which nobody is!
I’m just saying that it’s very sad that there are still police forces within the US who have a blanket policy of 24 hours (which it seems applies whether the missing person is a ‘known runaway’ or not!) Most people who are murdered after going missing, are so within the first 24 hours of when they went missing …. So those first 24 hours could’ve changed the outcome entirely if they’d begun searching - properly - immediately
It's actually not a rule here either. For some reason people think it is, including law enforcement.
Police will tell you that you have to wait 24 hours. This is NOT a fact. Especially in the case of minors. If your baby goes missing, please do not let these cops procrastinate their responsibility. Most of the time they don’t know as much of the law as they should. Do not wait 24 hours.
We could never understand why at 12 our daughter started acting out and literally leaving our home at 1:00am trying to go hang out with friends. We had a home security system installed and that didn’t help. She didn’t care. We tried to explain the dangers and she thought she was able to take on a full grown man.. She always acted older than what she is and no matter how hard we tried to rein her, the more she fought us.. She even tried the pillows under her blankets. That I was like seriously. 😢 she is now 18 and she said I don’t know what I was thinking because I would never do that right now.. She won’t walk from our driveway to the door without being on the phone now.. Which I’m glad she’s more aware of her surroundings now..

Hpd is horrible. I lived in houston for a short time. I was robbed at g point at my work and literally all they cared about was that it should have been another jurisdiction since i was right on the line. They were annoyed i was shooken up and couldnt gather my thoughts.

This is so sad and sounds like she might of gotten trafficked from someone she met on a dating app that’s what they are doing now a days and especially with girls her age and it’s rampant in the Houston area!! Also yes those apps are age restricted BUTTTTT all you have to do to get around that shit is by putting in a older year for your birthday when you sign up then the true year they were actually born and then BOOM they are allowed on because they think they are of age! Also these young girls use a lot of photo shop on there pics to look like they are older then they are that’s been happening for ever now. That picture of her in the blue hoodie she looks like she is 10-13 years old the other pic with the ponytail of her she looks 14-16 years old! Much of a difference one of those age groups is middle school ages and the other is high school ages two totally different age groups.

As soon as that Mama contacted Five 0 they should have automatic sent out an Amber alert. This young girls life is just as valuable as “ Sammie’s” Her well being, her life, her heart, She’s someone’s daughter, sister, cousin, niece ect and This should have been automatically sent out as a Amber alert as soon as the mom Called the police. I don't think there's enough information but I'm trying really hard right now not to judge this baby's mom. All the makeup, being out so late, the tik-tok...smh people need to let children be children. Parents need to start taking responsibility for keeping their children safe. Period.
