This is the first guy I have seen over 7.5 that is well proportioned - he is not freakish looking - actually he is very normal looking expect for his height. I really hopes he makes it.
Still gave to fixe that coordination though.
Shawn Bradley, Yao Ming, Mark Eaton/Ralph Sampson/Rik Smits(all close enough to 7’5) moved just as well as Oliver and are proportioned normally.
@@sugu8403 Nah, ralph, yao and bradley look odd
That's likely b/c his massive growth is not the result of a pituitary disorder.
@@sugu8403 nah man, with all due respect to Yao, but he doesnt look well proportioned
4:48 i love how the other player was like "yeah i'm not even gonna waste my energies"
Dude is 17 now and to hear him talk you would think he is 47, legend.
save yourself the torture of listening to this nonsensical video, here is the update 10/22/2022: Standing at 7-foot-6, Rioux is a sophomore at IMG Academy in Florida.
Ya gotta luv his standing windmill dunk...
😁
He needs to do a standing 360
This guy has a real chance to be a star if he works hard and learns how to play big man ball. Usually very tall guys and skinny and get pushed around on the court, but this guy is 290 lbs already, bigger than most centers today. He must improve his strength which young centers do not have, to not get bullied on the court.
He's 20.5 ft now.
Now he’s 21.00 ft.
He's 33.5 ft now
Dude staring down the other kids after dunks. 😂
I dont think he needs to jump at all. Its just to hard on a frame that big - think of Walton and Yao. He needs to improve quickness , decision making and anticipation.
He's still young but he does have potential, he needs to work on lateral movements, gain some more coordination but not to say he's not, if he gets recruited by a Division I school he'll really have to work hard to get to that level of playing. I still say he has a chance, if not he'll definitely have a better chance at Div. II or Div. III. (for some reason I forgot that other "division" of college, not JC though)
Bro stfu….. you have no idea just saying bs haters say
He just committed to the University of Florida.
What are you saying? He doesn't have a chance because he's not black? That you're only allowed to play big time basketball if you're black? There is nothing wrong with his skills. It's the pigment of his skin that's a problem.
He move really good in the paint down low and good mechanics, but needs to increase his speed up and down the court.
Lol I guess that’s one way to pronounce Giannis
He's at IMG Academy in Flordia.
His other players around them are so swollen compared to him he doesn't even have to jump but that's not the way it's going to be in college or in the NBA he'll have taller players around him
They should put this kid in pure developmental & Physical training!
This kid just needs to move quickly around the court. If he is able to do it, I firmly believe he is going to make the NBA, and possible be a superstar!. Since, he is well proportioned body wise, and very smart as well. I think the sky is the limit for him to be honest.
He doesn't have NBA potential.
"This kid just needs..:" STFU. This kid needs to get a college degree, he will never make it to the NBA. In the NBA even at 7'4 he wont be able to just stand around and shoot over every one. And he has zero skill. Cause he doesnt need any.
@@TrojansFirstyou don’t know that fool
@@iwatchvideos4fun2 you don’t know the sport.
He got good proportions for his size
I'm glad his favourite player is Giannis. If he fashions himself to Giannis, the sky is the limit. He should practice his back-to-the-basket like Hakeem and pass like Jokic.
Hopefully, if he gets at least 1/4 of Wembanyama's talent, he could make it to the NBA
He’ll end up in China or Europe. 20 years ago he’d be in the NBA or have a shot anyway. He’s a real nice kid tho, I hope he gets a shot. He can jump which is something and playing at IMG doesn’t hurt at all.
His vertical leap is 9 inches
@@davidmoser3535 lol
Facts! He doesn’t look that good. The guys is just freakishly tall and bullying smaller players. I don’t one decent post move or even a shot.
The possibilities of his children if he were to marry a tall girl, and so on... 🤯
OHIO STATE
Is exactly right for him. They have an awesome amount of talent but lack that one BIG to Guarantee a National Championship.
226c is 7.5 foot . something
MUTANT? good grief. seems pretty rude
If he stays healthy the sky is the limit for this young man
He looks normal.. No gigantism considering his height he looks normal..
"Dad!! He was as tall as me already when he was in 3rd grade!! And the world's heaviest child?! He was heavier than me at age 5!! WHAT??!" My dad "Don't compare yourself to these freaks...!"
Just FYI it's pronounced Ree-oo, good vid tho.
New mutant.. c'mon. That rubbish to say the least. Good luck Olivier, keep getting stronger and better on your cardio, and sky is the limit.
NBA has evolved to a more perimeter oriented game. Traditional big men without a jumper is quickly losing their jobs. This kid seems like a trooper but he’s not mobile and prob not even gonna be good enough defensively to warrant playing time.
But where is the red line between a very tall healthy person or a health condition-suffering person like giantism?
The thing is that tall people with a condition start falling apart all over with age and cannot be elite athletes for too long. Hope this boy does good.
He's been to doctors about his height. If they suspected any health issues like growth hormone he would have been checked.
there is no line, it is simply about the growth hormone output of the pituitary gland. I still dont buy he's healthy and obviously if there was something up with him, they wouldnt be shouting it from the top of the hills.
@@maxmeier532there is a line,he doesnt have a pituitary tumour which is the definition of acromegalic gigantism
Tacko Fall done right, great vid
I hope Tacko Fall can get his game on an NBA level soon and get into the league. This kid's gonna be taller and most likely, better!
@@gaffle7646 not going too happen hes already 27 years old he couldnt even get in done in the G league
@@justinalley3399
Tacko is playing overseas(China if i recall correctly)and doing well, almost dominating.
Wow great addition for team Canada and he can handle the ball
Hasn't Canada had a half chinese 7 footer in the U-19 bronze medal team already? Zach Edey?
Man i love metric
Can you please do the measurements in American. Like, how many Mt.Dew cans tall is he?
He can dunk without jumping!
He should work out with bol bol
PLEASE, someone tell him about Mac McClung's training program that helped him learn to jump so high, and develop blazing speed. These two thing can put him in the NBA. That said he should stay the calm and easing going person he is. But, please get him hooked up with Mac's training program. Mac's dad helped to develop the training, It's the real thing.
He can dunk standing lolol he dont need to work on his vert. He needs to play against grown men who are taller than his 5 foot friends lolol.
Mcclungs training program didnt make him a great jumper, that is largely genetic, same with sprinters.
Could he reach 7.8" in height by the time joining nba?
He looks like a natural giant. No gigantism.
@@garpylinski3757 he is going to be the tallest natural man by the time he’s fully grown assuming he’s not done
Maybe 8foot flat
He will NEVER get into the NBA.
@@finkelmana couldnt agree MORE. They would eat him up and spit him out.
This centimeter is pissing me off 😂😂😂 just say the damn height 😂
What's with all the metric? When it comes to height and weight, the vast majority of Canadians use Imperial measurements.
BTW, basketball was invented by a Canadian.
that is so unfair for those kids.
Im surprised how this youtuber has managed to say so many NBA players names incorrectly.
He has a lot of work to do if he wants to make the nba.
A developmental coach to help him with his body would help his game.
He may be tall but he doesn't appear athletic.. He is still awkward. One unfortunate thing I see with some tall people is that they don't exercise their jumping skills since they don't feel they need to jump as high, thus they have low vertical leaps even though they can dunk.
Mark Eaton, Greg Dreiling, Manute Bol, Tom Chambers, Detlef Schrempf, Alonzo Mourning to name just a few multiple decade players who could not jump
The name is pronounced REE-OU, not rou
Are they playing on an 8foot rim?
8'7" height even if you move like that no way an nba player can stop you!
he's not a stick man, but from the looks of it, he cant to anything with the ball. he's just laughably taller than his little friends who look like 12. Have him play against grown ass men. People always think you just need to be tall in the NBA. No, you need to be tall and skilled AND quick, very quick.
Hes not 8 foot 7 , no player has ever been over 8 feet
Rioux is spelled Ree-ooo not roux!
As he grows will he be quick enough for the NBA
No
@@al3724 🤷🏾
Time will tell
He will never get into the NBA
@@finkelmana and wtf are you
This was structured horribly ☠️
Comedy ,he's fools gold ...He lacks athlete ability and lateral quickness ...He is "All hype!"
Centimeters? Come on, convert to feet since most of your audience is in NA
We dumb Americans don’t understand how tall he is when all you give is his height in centimeters.
When is he suiting up for Purdue?
He will never play in a Division I school, much less professional basketball
making him play against 12 year old kids is just dumb...
Sign Him to nba asap
LOL no. He will never make it to the NBA.
I'd like to see these giants with a 40" virt.
Remember they said Durant was too skinny to make it in the NBA. Yeah.
nobody ever said that.
cm? I still dont know how tall he is.
We need translation to American measurements
Kai sotto 7'2 220cm Philippines nba next next!!
Should have gave height in feet and inches.
Nice piece about Olivier Rioux. I've just got to ask; Why was it necessary to state the obvious about 22 year old Robert Bobroczsyi? Don't we all deserve to be recognized for taking part and doing our best? Sensitivity chip is missing here. It might be best to edit out that belittling commentary. I do realize we are all just doing our best. That bit seems to destroy what you are aiming for in this recognition of young talent.
Kid traveled about 2 dozen times in the span of the video. I’m not sure how sure he is of his own body.
Looks like an adult playing against kids
I’m surprised he hasn’t been tested for his genetics? There were giants in those days..
When I was in high school I learned about how much12 inches was, in the video he only mentions centimetres. Get back to feet and not centimeters. Please
What's the deal with the rim being under 10'?
For kids I suppose.
He is a fan of “Giantess”? Tha fuck?
To be determined. Soon?
Bet he goes to Duke
The NBA will need to raise the rim a foot higher. Lol
Why? He will never make the NBA
@@finkelmana It was a joke. Hense, lol.
Then he wouldn't be able to dunk. He can only jump a couple inches.
Kid wont make it in NBA- the big boys will muscle him out 15 feet
and even if he does not. He can go play overseas and make 7 figures.
Shawn Bradley REINCARNATED
I do believe had Shawn Bradley gone straight from college to the NBA instead of spending 2 years as a missionary, he would have been much better.
@@jayrod9979 Shawn played in the NBA for 12 years. He wasnt as bad as everyone says he was - and his statistics show that. However, he wasnt definitely not all that good - and his statistics show that, as well. At best, he was an average center.
@@finkelmana
Had he gone straight to the NBA out of college and not on a mission he would have a much better player
@@jayrod9979 You literally repeated your original comment, to which I will repeat mine: He has 12 years of NBA training and coaching and didnt improve.
@@finkelmana
Yes. You seem to not understand that when someone does not play basketball for 2 years while in their prime(early 20s) that said person will have missed on crucial development.
Again, had Shawn Bradley gone straight to the NBA out of college instead of doing missionary work for 2 years and NOT playing basketball, he would have been much more successful in the NBA
8:12 Excuse me, WHO is he a fan of??? JYANNIS????? LMAOOOO
Weight lifting. Lite to start. Lots of reps
Kai sotto 7'2 Philippines nba right next
Centimeters for the slow people dosent mean much
If you want to talk to most Americans I know how about using inches
Thank you
Yoga and skills training.... dude will kill everything
While better than Robert Bobroczkyi in every conceivable way, he still appears to have very limited mobility. This means he will never play for a Division I school, much less get into the NBA.
seems like a nice kid but you are correct. He cant get up and down the court fast enough. I played DIV 3 and the speed comparison at the DIV 1 level is night and day. I ran a 4.7 in school and had the chance to guard Billy Donavan in a pickup game. He was two years out of Providence by then... He was blowing past me like i wasnt even there lol.
@@krakenwoodfloorservicemcma5975 not to mention D1 and the NBA are really shying away from players taller than 7'2". They all get injured. There was a great video on CZcams - I wish I could find it again - where someone tracked the history of all NBA players over 7'3" and it was fascinating. ALL the players, except one had season ending injuries, ultimately ending up in short careers. This includes Bradley, Muresan, Ming, both Bol's, Eaton, and many more.
He has plenty of mobility just very little agility as youd expect at his height.
I am sure many Div 1 schools will offer him a scholarship. Look what Zach Edey did for Purdue. Do your homework!
@@nikolavukovic4655 You did NOT just post "Do you homework!" in a reply on the internet and think you are going to get away with it, did you? I did my homework. You did not. Olivier Rioux has 0 interest from Div I schools and scouts. None. Zero. You can look at scouting report after scouting report. No one wants him. Just do some actual research, instead of making stuff up and posting it on the internet.
come on !!! go with feet & pounds!!! screw this.
If he wants to go pro and i she him shoot fadeaways i will go ape.
Who says centimeters
They should make a category just for super tall players like with basket at 4.50m height
I don’t do centimeters
LOL! I know we here in Canada use Metric system but it is annoying that in terms of height you use centimeters? Who does that? I have never seen it before!
The entire world does it outside the yanks
Use imperial measurements duhhh
Nah man. It will become taco. . Unless he has the physicallality
Wilt the stilt
So you’re not gonna answer the question thanks
No, the nba's trajectory is not being changed by ultra tall "unicorns". That is total B.S.
Show me where it is. Maybe the B.S. hype, but no.
No unicorns yet. Sorry, maybe the closest is Jokic, but he is 6'11 and is only really decent as an actual big man roll.
Hologram probably won't amount touch other than a bag full of injuries and the with Wemby.
It's not fair, too easy..They should make size catégories in basketball, like weight categories in boxing.
That’s one thing I don’t like about boxing, the lighter you are the easier opponents you get. It should be anything goes.
Is this a bot narrating??
Sounds like one.
Not with that accent.
@@jbthestoner5504 they are nore advanced these days
Think his better than Kai Kai Sotto soon...
Why is the basket set so low ?
Because under 13 the basket is set at 8.5ft (260cm)
@@stephanepinto9211 When I was a kid. We played with 10' rims. & when my kids played, 40 years later. They did too. Is that a Canadian thing ?
@@garpylinski3757 I'm French, not Canadian ;)
In europe this is a rule for kids. I don't know if it's the same in canada, but when you look at the face of the kids next to him, they seems very very young and in the video he talk about him when he was 12. But maybe i'm wrong.
Oliver Rioux vs Victor Win 🤔
I'm not getting a calculator and convert these heights bro. Give it yo the Americans in feet please.
18 feet.
METRIC (the entire world):
1,000 millimetres to a metre
1,000 metres to a kilometre
1,000 grams to a kilogram
1,000 kilograms to a tonne
0 water freezes
100 water boils
IMPERIAL (USA and Libya still stuck in the year 1794):
12 inches to a foot
3 feet to a yard
1,760 yards to a mile
16 ounces to a pound
32 water freezes
212 water boils
Pretty simple really! One makes logical sense..... the other is insane, illogical, and used by only two countries that are still stuck in the past. 😅😅
America is only part of the whole world that uses centimetres. You just divide by 2.52 to get inches and 12 to get feet. Are you that stupid.
