I like to think the ambulance crash is more of an ambulance escape. That's why we find more than one patient nearby. I mean think about it, hospital being overrun, patients and doctors alike trying to get out if they can. No one notices one of the individuals in the back looking paler than normal in the panic. At least until they sink their teeth into someone's neck. A single distraction from the road. A final mistake.
I wasn't even aware those were single crashed cars were supposed to be burnt, or that there was a difference between two crashed cars and a failed bandit attack. Plus those acted backstories are great.
Thanks! Yeah, some of the burnt cars are more obvious, but you know it's one of those when it won't let you into the car. And with the bandit attack you have to be careful not to let the loot filled zeds wander off!
@@Handles_arent_a_needed_feature he addressed that in today's video. Basically there is a burnt car model, but there is also a scene that is labeled "burnt car" but spawns in those cars. It SHOULD be the burnt car model, but it's not 😂
The ambulance is always, always restocked after a shift cycle. Makes sense it’s full of medical supplies. My EMT class all agreed we would sadly be first to get infected, the firefighters swear they would never let themselves get bit though lol.
Can actually confirm, I’ve done this myself to clear roads for better access to certain areas for vehicles and so I can actually gun it down the highways without worrying about crashing into something other than the occasional zombie.
Speaking of non-vehicle related events, I had a 2 month run end because of a looter random encounter. I drove into rosewood looking for a place to sleep as my character was about to pass out and I walked by a store that had 4 looter zombies inside, they spotted me and broke the glass to get out which triggered a alarm and a runner amongst the hordes got me.
My favorite is and always will be the blockade. It was the first of these scenes I encountered, and man, there is something so eerie about the lights still being on. It's as if it had happened only 10 minutes prior, creating this sense of "damn, I'm too late".
this might fall under emergency interrupted but I once found a mailtruck with 4 mailmen surrounding it. In the trunk was a whole lot of books and whatnot.
I think that's one of the "Annotated Maps" Which is a different category of "Scene" in the PZ code. There is also what the game calls, "Chunk Stories" and all three of those are randomly generated static scenes. They have said they will also be making Basements as a fourth category in the V42 release.
I have to owe it to the ambulance crash for teaching me the value of the search mode. I stumbled across it really early in the game and I check both cars. The first car was unlocked but had nothing while the ambulance was locked. I desperately needed medical supplies and I was going through the menus and accidentally open search mode and turned it on. Just a few feet away was the icon for some keys. I wondered over and sure enough it was the keys to the ambulance! I opened the back and found three trauma bags full of all the medication I needed! There’s an entire skill for it (foraging), and you can use it to find things like food, medicinal herbs (if you have the herbalist trait or have read the appropriate magazine), etc. depending on where you’re searching and how good your foraging level is.

this one was super fun!, also i love the scenes cause it practically shows us that.... things just went to hell out of nowhere, and the non-vehicles scenes will make this even more clear
Me and my friends were at a large highway intersection scrapping the massive pileup for metal while I looted the cars that I could when I stumbled upon an interesting find. I look in the back of a random white SUV to find SEVERAL *POUNDS* of explosives(pipe bombs, Molotovs, grenades, you name it, it was there). Laying amongst those weapons was a pillow and a sheet. I immediately thought that I found the car of an arsonist who abandoned their car when the Knox Event started. It was a really cool find and probably one of my favorite PZ moments due to the sheer surprise of it all lol.
Nice! I love how the game has like 5 different entire systems to drop down pre-set scenes, but the loot pool can also just be like... "His life had led him to this point, and now the zombies..." All on its own.
3:55 It sucks that you hit a deer. Good thing you weren't hurt though. In 13 years of driving my 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner has killed 3 deer without taking any damage. The fourth one did some minor damage but I fixed it with a replacement grille and hood for $400. Cars made a couple years newer from 1973 to some time in the early 80s had even tougher front ends and were required by US law to be able to hit a solid object like a wall going at least 5MPH without taking any damage.
There's still 2 more i guess, the fire truck nearby a burnt house, in which you can find some fireman zeds, that give you good armor early on, and the police car with escaped prisoners nearby
Every time I see a zombie horde respawn after clearing up a city full of them, I would literally just roleplay it as: "Well crap, it seems like the zombies next town finally got here. No way- there are police officers with them too? Were they all dispatched to deal with a riot and unintentionally got bitten by zombies? Looks like the fireteams also got their share too..."
i love these random stories the game gives you. it teaches you how to play by just finding stuff... on my first playtough I found a car with a jack and tyre and it taught me how to change a tyre... very cool. Also i have found a car with a sledge hammer just on the floor. these are great small hints on how to do stuff. this game is very good at teaching the player stuff by just making a scene and you can just figure it out by yourself hahahaha
Yeah, corpses can also spawn as loot in the seats of cars. It's not one of the random "Scenes" that the game can spawn, but it IS intentionally added to the car loot pool!
