    Over a year ago I had released my Limbo project as part of the retrospective Warframe series. “How Limbo Became The Most Misunderstood Warframe”. Ever since then the reception about Limbo has drastically switched with my name getting involved in almost every discussion relating to Limbo. And while Limbo has some interesting properties to make note of, I feel like I did a rather poor job explaining the real aspects of Limbo, both good and bad. So this video will serve as both an updated corrections video (akin to the Chroma video) as well as bringing new light into the rift walker in 2024 with an updated guide on the Rift Mechanics.

    PLEASE READ: Melee Vortex section is WRONG. The melee NEEDS to land the final hit for it to activate. With Rift Torrent you gain a large bonus so the heat DOT from zenistar will still work, but keep this in mind. Sorry for this error.
    Just a disclaimer, the audio in certain sections may have peaked too much causing a "fuzz" noise ish, I tried my best to fix it but I think something went wrong when I was rendering as everything seemed normal in premiere, so I hope it isn't super distracting :( (Or it could be my headphones)

      Tbh its cause of you that I went my way to get Limbo prime again after not understanding his kit, when I fully understood it and my eyes were opened to some possibilities it made me just rediscover Limbo in a whole new way. So in short, thank you. :)

      Good video, Limbo used to be my favorite but the game itself really left his mechanics in the dust. Hoping for a big rework, but I'm honestly having a time even imagining how you do that without destroying his concept.

      Off subject but u mention using the twin grakatas with secondary fortifier for overguard. You gotta try it with the akarius or akarius prime. Since it heat seeks and has innate blast aoe with high base status and dmg u get more utility out of it plus faster overguard build up. I’ve been enjoying this setup since the Jade update. Hope it helps. U might wanna put ammo motion mod on it tho

      For Cataclysm, to allow it to still shrink to go with the nullifier idea proposed, could make it so it has a single target "rift surge" effect, where if a target was inside the cataclysm, stasis, then the shrink, it will self and only self banish the mob to prevent the stickiness and also still allowing for the targeting of that particular mob.

      Bru I always found him perfect for it because Limbo excels at any timer based mission, or any mission where DPS is good but you don’t need to maximize it (say Alchemy).

      Yeah, Limbo can be hard to understand, not least because his ability descriptions are incomprehensible. I wish more people knew how to play with a Limbo on team so I could pull him out more often! He's got so many cool mechanics! I only bring him out in The Circuit on Steel Path, and even there I sometimes have to coach my team when they say "why am I not doing any damage!"

      It’s a mechanic that sadly is never mentioned about the ability. And I always found it weird that no one tried finding it on their own through testing.

    As someone who loves playing Limbo:
    -Allies should be able to shoot both into and out of rift space.
    Perfect. Fixed. Done. Now Limbo can play his own game WITHOUT screwing over his entire team.

      THIS. Basically would solve his biggest problem by far, keep the rift mechanics on him to keep his gameplay loop intact but make allies able to ignore them, keep the enemies obeying rift mechanics, you now have a frame that can make others close to immortal without messing with them, also make stasis shut down eximus abilities in the rift.
      All of Limbo fixed.

      ​@@tiekogalaxylatte8839you can subsume silence onto him to shut down eximus units, DE makes some frames have obvious weaknesses so they can't be extremely op so keeping eximus as a mild threat is his Achilles Heel for you to work around

    Limbo is such an underrated and overhated frame. He's VERY niche but he's arguably excellent at what he does. He's among the best for defense-type missions (especially arbitration defense).

      I remember back in the day Limbo was all the rage in Defense. Limbo would cast Stasis and the rest of us would run around shooting at all the enemies. Watching all the bullets suddenly rip into everyone was so much fun. I remember lots of goofy fun with Limbo on team, but it's sad that his kit didn't seem to take trolls into account. I think that soured a lot of people on him and he never really recovered to this day.

      The only thing that holds me back from attempting to consistently play Limbo is the lack of visual indication of rifted enemies. The current wavy and rift visuals below the enemy are not enough. I think rifted enemies have a "rifted" mark above their heads can be one of the better ways of making it an easier indicator.

      @@sherlockoberon_akomi9781 would be a nice QoL change, but most of the time when I'm using Limbo, I'm within the rift anyway, so If I don't hit the target that only means I have to phase out to kill it, or drag it within the rift. or cast 4.

      Hey, "veteran" here! Don't burn yourself out! No, Christopher, framing. Sorry, I'm trying to get better with this. Let me go again: TRY not to burn yourself out. Almost everything rolls back around at some point. You will get all the things eventually. If you find yourself bashing your head against the wall, go and do something else for a little while. There's no point in ruining the game for yourself trying to get those goofy one percent drop rate things on a focus farm. I find Warframe is best played as a relaxing thing, especially since you don't need to do the Destiny style farming for the right stats on weapons.

    I’ve been a limbo main for about 4-5 years now, and whenever I feel like I fully understand him I learn a new synergy that makes him even crazier.
    I currently run a energy tank limbo with 1k-2k+ armor (can afk outside banish in steel path) that can without using any abilities outdamage and outkill any other warframes base kit. And whenever I want I can use nourish and rift torrent to make my damage and tanking even crazier. With my min range max duration 4 and 2 being something I use if I know theirs nothing enemies can do to stop me and I’m too lazy to fight them.
    Theirs literally nothing I can’t do with my limbo, which has kinda made other frames redundant for me. Don’t sleep on this frame, once you figure him out the game is pretty much in the palm of your hand.

      My only personal issue from playing Limbo is that it's hard to see what enemies are rifted or not. While yes there's already a visual indicator of a wavy rift below the enemy, it's still hard to see it, especially you're going to places to places rlly fast

      I have a question. If I put terrify on his 4, and fully strip an eximus unit, will they then be able to get into the rist via rift surge or banish and then be frozen? Or is it a property of them being an eximus unit itself?

    I have a concept for a replacement for the augment for limbo's 4. While Shrinking: Cataclysm will drag foes in and ragdoll them closer towards the center, and damage can scale based on how many people Limbo can get in there let's say....capped at 25% extra damage(to be adjusted) I like the idea of the 4 being this ticking time bomb you place and let it build up.

    Here's my idea for a replacement for Cataclymsic Continuum:
    [Cataclysmic Haze]
    Allies / Enemies who exits the Rift through Cataclysm is given a new "Rift Haze" debuff that lasts for a short amount of time. While active, they can be interacted or damaged from both the Rift Plane, and the Material Plane. Stasis and Rift Surge will continue to work on enemies, but will fade once "Rift Haze" ends.

    1: as a former limbo main (he was my first prime and had a 30% usage on him even when he was B/B- tier) this video makes me so happy
    2: I’m at the start of the video so I might come back and edit my final thoughts, but my current thoughts is Limbo is a demonstration of the flawed design of nullifiers

    Maybe DE can make it to where nullifers dont break the Cataclysm at all, but act as Eximus units that can roam freely in Cataclysm. If/once they come into contact with you, your abilities shut off and you get pulled back into regular plain. Any enemy that is in the nullifer bubble can move freely inside Cataclysm until either leaving the Nullifer bubble or anything breaking the bubble. This will give Limbo players time to react instead of just getting rid of an ability entirely by just one enemy.

    I do wish they'd make it so Nullifier bubbles didn't just instantly annihilate Cataclysm and Gloom upon contact, just make enemies within range of the bubble imune to the effects, and only disable fully if the player has the bubble pass over them (or in case of Cataclysm/Snow Glode, passing over the dead center of the orb)

    Another issue with not being able to pick up items in the rift is that rolling guard becomes a pain to use. Since you need to dodge to pick up items, rolling guard cannot function as a safety option since you’re forced to roll even when you’re not in danger.
    I agree with playing limbo without subsume; 2 and 3 are not removable, and replacing 1 or 4 feels terrible. With that said, cataclysm is pretty underwhelming as a big banish that can be cast while in rift, which you’ll immediately deactivate half the time. It needs to do something else in addition to its current functions. Right now, we’re stuck in a (heh) limbo where cataclysm doesn’t do enough but you also can’t subsume it off comfortably.
    Rift surge has 2 issues. There is a limited application range, and that radial banish has a base radius of only 5m. Limited application range forces you to play pretty close to your bubble, so it’s annoying for when you’re not playing inside a bubble. The 5m base radial banish is too little, you need high range to spread the rift efficiently, but building for high range causes other issues.
    Not too long ago, DE made the change that enemies frozen by cold can be pulled by grouping abilities, this indirectly buffed limbo by allowing enemies in stasis to be pulled by cordon/ensnare. (It also lets air burst troll xaku players by moving their gaze target) Now nautilus and melee vortex are extremely strong options as grouping both increases rift torrent’s effectiveness and helps out rift surge’s piss poor base range.

      Not only that, but stasis enemies can be moved using magus anomaly, however I refrained from mentioning these grouping tools affecting stasis because its undocumented and I'm afraid if I spoke much on that, it would lead to a "fix"

      I personally not just use any defensive mods on my Limbo at all. my go to with Limbo is with Vazarin's protective sling. you can add Quick Thinking as a backup plan, but most of the time, Vazarin is more than enough.

    I was thinking for a cataclysm augment and it would allow for cataclysm to still shrink, where the center of the cataclysm acts as a vortex/ ensnare where all enemies get dragged towards to center when under the effect of stasis. So all enemies are now deep in and not dancing the line between two and it allows for the unique shrinking mechanic to be left in (I imagine it'll be like just ensnare in the center so that it's still easy to headshot and probably easy for DE to code in as they already have an abilities that does it).

      That is a pretty good idea actually, it allows Limbo to vortex without using external sources. Though it could be a bit too powerful and might lead to some AFK grinding depending on the range/stats of the vortex and if it skips obstacles or LOS. (Also have to consider elevation)

    I love playing Limbo solo or with friends, but the rift-bound enemy VFX is so subtle that it is hard to spot in which state is the enemies. Overall, the lack of clear visual clues about the enemy state adds a lot of confusion in battle, especially for Limbo's allies. A simple update of the VFX should be quite easy and might have a big impact on the feeling of playing Limbo (and playing with him as an ally)

    I'm a new player, and my first crafted frame last week was mag (I picked volt as starter). After mag was explained to me, my interest in other frames is nowhere near that of Mag. I pretty much ubiquitously heard that mag is trash and overcomplicated, which after playing mag, I'm confused how there's a debate over mag at all. It's now got me wondering what other frames are commonly said to be garbage or generally mid but actually can be really fun and powerful if you actually give a somewhat wholehearted attempt at playing them.
    Limbo is the first on my list because mag at least seems to have a solid following who push back when people say stuff, I don't think I've seen anyone defend Limbo (other than this comment sectand one other video I've seen).

    Just like your other big Limbo video this is a fun drive down memory lane for me as i started to play PS4 WF around when Chroma was added. Always played Limbo and was basically NEVER on any of the WF forums. So i basically learned about how much people hated Limbo when the problems more or less go fixed. Only thing i noticed was Limbomb and how much how i hated the short period.

    Theoretically it wouldn't be too hard to program nullifiers working as a "negative cataclysm", speaking as someone with experience. But this is DE's spaghetti code, so who knows. I'd also suggest that rather that allies in affinity range being able to enter the rift, instead have an unmoddable radius around banished units (allied as well as enemy) in which players can enter the rift just like Limbo, for an unlimited duration, signified by a fog on the ground. Enemy fog exists in both planes, whilst allied fog not made by Limbo only exists in the material plane for game balance. Leaving the radius causes the duration to start ticking down - like Wisp's motes. To help aid visual clarity on which enemies can and can't be harmed, make units invisible across planes, outside of people playing Limbo, who can see across planes. The fog signifies something is there, so you can kill it, but doesn't trick you into thinking you can harm an invincible enemy, as the visuals for the rift can be hard to see. The mote system would add a lot of weird synergetic playstyles too, like two players "leapfrogging" the rift to carry a bubble of it. It means Limbo is the only one who can decide when the rift is accessible, giving him all the power whilst not restricting allies. It also eliminates edge cases where enemies may be outside of Limbo's affinity range, and prevents annoyance at attacking the wrong enemies by only showing the ones you can attack, still signifying the presence of others through the fog

      That's a very good one, instead of making the enemy fully invisible with only the fog as an idicator, I'd make them have something akin to Nukor effect that erases parts of the enemies to make it look like they're flashing in and out of the material plane instead, that would make it much easier to spot and it would look cooler as well

    As for Cataclym's augment, I suggest a loot augment, enemies inside the cataclym has 50% chance of dropping more loot, scales with strength so we have a reason to built strength

    my idea of ​​reworking limbo would basically be to get rid of cataclysm in the sense of making the dome disappear and instead generate an explosion that sends everything in its range into the rift so you save yourself the problem of leaving the enemies at the entrance of the cataclysm with stacis and for dimensional upheaval what could be done is that the affected enemies remain in the rift in every sense but can receive damage from outside the rift in addition to making them more vulnerable to damage and so if an enemy affected by this ability dies, then pass the effect to nearby enemies all that without an increase in base form.     All I want is the nullifier to create a safe space (non rifted) for enemies inside.
    Also the enemy overguard just being able to walk in and slap Limbo around makes him absolutely unplayable to me.

    Side note: I noticed you were using the boar incarnon apparently blast is surprisingly good with it's incarnon form and with a topaz archon shard you can regain your shields giving limbo that extra bit of survivability

    I'm thinking take Rift Surge augment, apply it to cataclysm.
    Then give Rift Surge a new augment where you do extra damage to overguard that scales with strength (The augment would allow overguarded enemies to be rifted via rift surge)

    On the nullifier problème, shortly after the limbo rework, nullifiers created an exclusion zone from the rift. A normal space bubble within the limbs bubble

    My only real gripes is that youve not mentioned the ABSURD ammount of bugs and glitches with limbo not having a consistant ruleset for people to follorw and a small note on the rework proposal.
    Fx. Murmur explossions of all kinds can hit you through the rift. Murmur consoles dont get disabled like interception when under cataclysm. Rift ressistant enemies defence targets that cant be banished, rift immune enemies i could go on.
    As for the rework its specifically pertaining to picking up items through the rift wich id argue is a tone setter more than anything and id argue that if allies can already control the rift via rift step then simply leaving the rift to pick up items isent that big of a deal. Infact theres something insanely satisfying about picking up 20lifesupport drops at once.
    beyond that? AWESSOME ESSAY! Glad to see our boi get some attention!

    I'd suggest making enemies and other things with health within the nullifier bubble immune to the rift. The nullifier could then release enemies from Stasis, the Cata DoT, and even Rift Surge. And if it walked all the way to the objective, since bullets are no longer stopped, anyone outside the rift could shoot it. A bad time for any defense type targets.
    It keeps the nullifier dangerous, but removes the annoying destructive aspect of their bubbles. Allowing for high-range builds to still be effective.

    When me and my friend started playing, I got Limbo as soon as I could and together we dominated the system. My job basically was to stay alive and rez my friend whenever he fell and he dealt the damage. Of course I got bored sometimes and I went gun ho, but it often ended up badly. I miss those simple times. When I'm done mastering Protea Prime, I think I'll pick up Limbo again for a while and see how my solo playstyle fares today. I probably need to relearn few things.

    I'd just get rid of the rift at this point and just go with the void. Like banish becomes an Aoe zone that deals void damage, like Jade. Time stops becomes the new cataclysm, like Limbo casts a bubble that is on the same plane as everything else, just that enemies inside are frozen and suffer void damage (and doesn't shrink). Rift surge can work instead on banished enemies on damaged enemies, and killed enemies under the surge spread aoe void damage.

    My idea was to replace cross-Rift invulnerability with cross-Rift DR for Limbo and allies when attacked from the wrong plane, but also allow Limbo and allies attack enemies across planes with no penalties. This would keep Limbo as he is, but alleviate squad play issues of being unable to attack enemies across planes. As an added bonus, enemies invulnerable to being Rifted, like Eximus Units, would be dealing less damage to Rifted Limbo constantly. Rift planning would essentially become about bonuses you experience within Rift space. For mobile missions it is about staying in the Rift and getting enemies into it for Surge. For defense missions it would be about keeping enemies out of the Cataclysm area while you enjoy DR within it, including objective. With this change I'd also shrink max size of Cataclysm, as it now works like a DR bubble, meaning it would have less issues with Nullifier spawning far away and still nicking edge of ability. Preventing Cataclysm from shrinking is a great idea, I would also change Augment (based on my idea at least) to give extra damage bonuses when in Cataclysm area specifically.
    Though of course, it's just one of the routes one could take reimagining Limbo. Guy needs a rework, but not because he's weak or useless for once. He's just disruptive in squads sometimes.

    Maybe changing cataclysm's augment so that enemies that leave the bubble remain in the rift for a duration would help
    stops the refreezing of stasis targets at the edge of a shrinking cataclysm
    if the cataclysm gets popped by a nullifier all the enemies outside the bubble remain in the rift

    When the helminth system was introduced, subsuming radial blind or breach surge made limbo team friendly and allowed us to use high range builds for def/md missions instead of the low range high duration builds. Eximus rework nerfed it a little but then the nerfed to breach surge not working on overguard units anymore some months back took lobo back to being used for niche cases and mostly solo play. Still my 3rd most used frame in the game loki/nyx

    I feel like Cataclysmic Continuum could be replaced with some kind of... vacuum for everyone effect where everyone automatically picks up any items in Cataclym's range. That OR ammo efficiency. Or maybe a vaccuum that pulls enemies INTO the cataclyms but I dunno.

    I understand why people hate on Limbo because of the trollers out there but I love to play him despite being a Gauss main since the March of this year. I really enjoyed it and at first his abilities gets me confused on how to get it synchronized and finally get the hang of it.

    Cataclysm edge wobble being a problem he says, meanwhile I'm over here using it as a feature since the rift does flat damage each time the enemy crosses the border, allowing early to mid game defensive missions to be cake.
    Side note: Hate how select Orb Vallis enemies just IGNORE the rift mechanic and will eat you rift or not.

    Just have the cataclysm have a fixed max size and every single kill within Rift grow it back to the max size. this gives the range mods a use still but you also have some dynamic play with cataclism where you can pop 4 then play outside it to have a more dynamic defense.

    My idea to rework Limbo while not changing his main gameplay loop and not getting in the way of other plays is as follows:
    Firstly, reworking his 1st ability, lets renamed it to Rift Touch, mechanically, and functionally it works the same as banish, but instead of sending your targets to the rift - and thus making them inaccessible to other players - you just infuse/prime them with rift energy making them more vulnerable to damage (% based off strength), and susceptible to his 2nd and 3rd abilities, with the only downside being that now the enemies can also damage a Limbo that's in the rift. Players hit by it gain an energy regen buff.
    Second, rework the rift mechanic, the 4th ability and the plane itself by making it more exclusive to the Limbo player, which now is only accessible to other players and enemies through Cataclysm. Cataclysm would also have it's base range reduced to 5m - akin to snow globe - and have the shrink mechanic be gone, making it more of a defensive ability and a safe haven for other players to escape damage and restore energy. Enemies that enter Cataclysm are also automatically infused/primed with rift energy.

      That kinda removes the whole point of limbo (at least imo) didn't like the idea especially the cataclysm reduction, I play my build with max range + rift torrent with some ability strength, silence subsumed over his 1 and rolling guard for survivability, I can do pretty much anything in the game pretty easily with this, that rework to his banish is pretty horrible to limbo since he requires his rift immortality to have decent survivability, removing that would make his squishy nature very obvious and hurt him a lot
