    Ahhh the railway inn down the village(south hylton) or the top house as it was known,the snake pit in the basement,brilliant times,had me first pint of whitbread scotch in there,me first pint anywhere...good times.

    My paternal grandad was from Sunderland, he was born in 1879, I never met him but it's nice to think he may have had one of these pubs as his local. He may have been in one of the photos, who knows?

    The very first one on the video is where I used to live. Red lion in crow tree road, my dad was the manager in the 60s

    I used to watch top of the pops with couple of pints of exhibition. then dance arl neet in the Rink. Great days

    brilliant. I bet and promise people were more happier then ,when you think we now have no industry's or every kind of job of employment you can think of and name .and these extra political correctness health+ safety,etc etc ,, why man people these days couldn't cope with living ,scrimping and surviving in those days,now big brother is everywhere ''even your own neighbour
