    Outstanding. One thing I might add for protection is an electric fence. Inexpensive to buy and run.

      Anthony Mason seems a little to much for a koi pond

    Great :) so I'm going to use 4' deep x 7' x 10' for salt water pond seeing your suggestion, cold minimum is -1 C and maximum like 40 C. I'll spend a year before put something there to analyze chemistry and temperature. Im designing a wind turbine system to create waves at different rates, with a sun power pump for oxygen. I should check noise levels to avoid stress.

    ...Or put the net underwater to keep the fish out of the shallow area. Like a gate made out of net. it can easily be moved to allow the koi fish in the shallow area. It can also be used to keep some fish separate from other fish.

    Do you have a video where you talk about how to seal concrete? Is there any type of special addative you need to mix with it?

    What about hawks or ospreys?? They would glide into the water and have an ornamental snack once they cling their talons. And snakes?? These serpents, either venemous or constrictors, can sneak through cages and swallows a fish whole, even underwater. Oh man, I hope something affective would be made to stop them.

    Hi there, the depth is important mainly because of the predator issue? I plan to build a pond indoors. What's the minimum recommended depth as there's no problem with predators?

      The other benefits to depth are - you can have more water = more stable. Also you can have more fish. Also, the fish will grow larger.

    If I dig my fish pond 12 feet deep, does that mean that I can quadruplify my fishload compared to if I had dug it 3 feet?
    Is there a limit to how deep a koi pond can be? Can a koi pond be unnecessarily deep?
    And if that is the case. How deep is that? Is 12 feet better than 8, is 24 better then 12?
    I hope you understand my question :)

      Any reason? 2.5 meter deep Koi ponds are quite common in Australia

    • @leonnagel415
      @leonnagel415 Před 5 lety +1

      @@raghavshankara5601 If you dont have a shallow spot in your pond, they get "depressed". They start moving very little and slow, even if its like 24°. The reason why i said maximum of 6 feet is because 4,5 feet is the minimum depth in which they can survive the winter with ice on top. Since you are from austrailia that probably doesnt meets you, but here in germany thats realy important as long as you dont have a heater. My pond for example is only 3 feet deep (i have a heater in the winter). I also have a bigger pond which is 5-6 feet with a shallow zone (1,5feet) and thats where i keep the bigger Kois (3feet+). So if you build a koi pond in Australia and dont have massive Koi, i dont recommend building such a deep pond.

      @@raghavshankara5601 while wrting i realised that maybe the reason australias ponds are so deep is because it gets so warm in the summer. Basically the opposite we got here
