Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for honoring Gordon, in my opinion the greatest singer/songwriter who ever lived. I saw him in concert 35 times, and was honored to meet him after a concert here in Chicago a few years ago. He was kind enough to pose for a picture with my wife and me.
Gordon Lightfoot will be dearly missed. Thanks for this tribute to him.

I just bought 2 Gordon Lightfoot albums at a yard sale this morning for $2 a piece! I almost feel like I hit the lottery. They were barely played and still in the shrink wrap! Great version by the way!

What a lovely version of a great song. Darwin sounds a bit like Willie Nelson, and that's a big compliment.

I moved from my home to the coast for work when I was 18.
This song brings me tears because it completely describes how I felt as a kid, stepping into adulthood.

I first heard this performed by The Kingston Trio, then about three years ago Gordon Lightfoot came to the Maine Center for the Arts and performed all evening to perfection. Of course this was part of the performance, but Gordon sang just about everything for which he is remembered. Simply the best, finest concert I've ever attended - bar none. He opened the second set with "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", note for note sounding like a perfect recording, but very much alive. He is quite justly regarded as a Canadian National Treasure. God bless the time he wrote, sang, and performed amongst us.

@@Brucev7 I saw him last fall. I have mixed feelings about seeing him. On the one hand, I am glad that I got to see him before he passed away. On the other hand, due to his age and declining health, his performance was negatively impacted. I think somebody should have told him to retire sooner than he did.
@@ctarabocchia You think, after hearing he was in the Hospital, and he was on a Tour, if he was trying to milk every last minute of his temporal life on Earth.
It was around 10 yrs ago, when the concert was. You could tell much time had lapsed. But, as someone else posted, "He was very down to earth and personable."
I respect who he was and what he was. If you can’t see past what age does to all of us it’s because you’re too young to understand. If you’re lucky, you’re time will come. A life doesn’t get frozen at a certain age. It evolves. You might get to decide when it’s time for you to quit. Don’t judge the choices made by others.
@@Brucev7 I last saw him in concert 2011 in Canada and he was in good voice and after the show before he left he talk for about 20 minutes. It was in Cornwall Ontario.

As with me and my wife, my late father-in-law was a huge fan of Gordo. He would be chuffed to know that they are both interred at the same cemetery in Orillia Ontario.
Saw Gordon lightfoot many times at the old Massey Hall in Toronto in the 1970's...just fantastic. F&F do a great version of this song.

I'm old enough to remember this song sung by Peter, Paul and Mary. It's the version that strikes a chord in me yet today. I didn't realize it was written by Gordon Lightfoot until just now. But I'm blown away with this F&F version sung by Darwin with harmony by Tim. As always they make every cover they do start a new life.

I wept too - it is amazing how a song can warp ones mind back in my case over 55 years. Memories just flood ones mind - people places and in the process - we weep for the ones we lost.

At the time, they didn't know how appropriate this song would be. Darwin sings with world-weariness and controlled emotion, and his guitar work is excellent. I wish I could play like him! Very tasteful performance by all, including the understated rhythm section.
When I heard about Gordon passing one of his songs I been listening to was your version of this song from a couple of years ago. His music been my entire life. Thank you from one who grew up by the St. Lawrence River. RIP to the greatest Canadian songwriter

The close knit sound you have as Fossils & Foxes & Fossils is amazing. It's like lying on a beach with a drink in hand listening to the waves gently rolling in. Perfection & what a way to live your life.

I meant to mention, I like the little bit of Neil Young and Willie Nelson that radiates at times from Darwin's voice. Yet he has his own distinct style, and I am not saying he is copying them, I just happen to like that similarity when it pops up. Great job everyone!

I grew up in the same part of Ontario Canada that Gord was from. His music was a huge influence for the love of music I have today.
Gord was a shadow of what he once was but still gave his all and loved to perform his beloved music for himself and his fans right till the end.
He was a poet, a true gem for us Canadians.
