- Can I beat a Pokemon Hardcore Nuzlocke challenge in Scarlet and Violet using only Bug types?
Nuzlocke Rules:
-Fainted Pokemon must be permanently boxed
-Only the first encounter on any given route may be caught (dupes clause)
-All pokemon must be nicknamed
Hardcore Rules:
-Always Set mode
-No items from the bag option in battle (held items are ok)
-No overleveling the next gym leader
Personal Rules:
-No setup moves
-No Terastalization

Bugs have improved drastically over the years but damn does Spidops suck. Lokix is pretty dope though
New ability for spidops should be Glimora's but instead of Tspikes it sticky web

I was more disappointed in its design cause imagine a huge spider covered in webs for a 2nd evolution, it feels it could be better if they just gave it a 3rd stage, I get not making an early pokemon too good, but finizen and mankey exist, sooo…
I'm currently planning to do a run with only Katy's mons and I am worried. So much grinding and EV training 😅

I think what sucks about the Lokix loss the most is that it has Throat Chop, a move that it not only learns at level 36, exactly the level cap of Larry, but it also eliminates the usage of sound attacks. Since Torch Song is a sound attack and that's the only Fire-Type move that Nemona's Skeledirge ever learns at this point and beyond, all of those sacrifices you made to that crocodile would have been prevented very easily.

12:24 if your Lokix was level 36, it would have learned Throat Chop, effectively shutting down Skelerdirge and saving you many mons in the process lol
I don't see how it shuts it down if it immediately tera fire, losing its dark weakness. Also I am uncertain if it would of saved anyone, throat chop would of had to deal over 25% hp to Skeledirge for Rabsca to not die. Either way, it would at most saved one pokemon at that point.
@@squirtle3219 throat chop nullifies sound-based moves, which Skeledirge has two in Snarl and Torch Song. Its only other move left was Lick which does little to no damage. Equipped with a Covert Cloak, Lokix could have solely bodied Skeledirge with no problem at all, despite not doing super effective damage to it

Even if only for novelty, Spidops could've made a reasonable Bug/Normal candidate. Nine generations in and still we haven't filled out every type combo XD

Bug will forever be my favorite typing so I got excited when I saw you post this run. Especially with the cool new bugs we got this generation. Spidops, Lokix and Rabsca are awesome and fun to use imo

Hey Axl, heads up - if you want to avoid the friendship mechanics the let you dodge moves and live on 1 HP… you can lower your Pokémon’s friendship by using herbs to heal instead of potions throughout the playthrough
fyi there's a couple of possible Indigo Disk encounters - it's possible to find a Dewpider as low as level 50 in the Savannah or Coastal Biome, and Joltik as low as level 50 in the Polar or Canyon Biome. Probably not particularly useful, but maybe helpful for someone who's incurred heavy losses by that point and needs to fill out the team.
Venonat also seems to have been entirely forgotten here, and that's in the base game lol. Kitakami has Spinarak, Volbeat, and Illumise for sack fodder, I guess. Well, Ariados might have SOME utility.

Bug and dark types are unironically my favorite types. I feel like they always have at least a couple bangers in each generation. If not for power then at least for looks.

I´ve tried this myself, the DLC helps a ton if you use early heracross at level 13 plus vicavolt for bomberdier. Also did the blueberry academiy leage with kleavor araquarid and scizor (since I can´t trade) for new gen nuzlockes the bug type roaster is the best.

Hi, Antlerboy! You seemed especially frustrated with the affection/friendship mechanics in this episode, but luckily there's a way around them:
They only happen as a result of picnics. If you never bring a Pokemon into a picnic, they will never trigger the dodging, bonus critting, hanging on so you don't cry, etc mechanics.

Once again, another run where Scizor shows how unnecessary it getting a Mega evolution was, its already just so strong. Nice to see some Yanmega appreciation, its always a solid member of my Kaiju teams as Megaguiras and a horribly underrated Pokemon.
Eh, most mega evolutions were highly unnecessary for a variety of Pokémon like Mewtwo (why?), Rayquaza (seriously why?), and the pseudo Legendaries (like Salamence, Tyranitar and ugh, Metagross were already good?)
@athenaflautt4104 my all time favourite typing is psychic, and my top pokemon are Espeon and alakazam...did alakazam need a mega form thou...him and Medicham are also good sweepers

Pretty sure the friendship boosts don't even kick in unless you actively start up a picnic anyway
@@CloverDragon03 nah just walking around and battling boosts friendship, just by playing BDSP and SV normally you'll get friendship effects, pretty annoying tbh

30:07 oh no haha you had throat chop on Heracross with a Scarf you could have shut down that Skeledirge then and there (Throat Chop prevents Skeledirge from using Torch Song because its a sound-based move and its only Fire Type Move afaik) 😂

I think the reason there is no bug type starter is because it will mess up the type triangle because all starters have to be supsr effective agaims eachother and when the starters was dual type the second type also has to be super effective meaning that unless i am wrong one starter will always be weaker then both as the 2 other starters will be super effective but i probobly wrong
I feel like having a stat sheet after a run would be such a cool idea. Maybe not for every Pokémon but if one Pokémon absolutely dominates a Nuzlocke you could show KO’s, most used move, close calls, etc. idk how it would work but a thought regardless

It's a shame a fair few of my favorite bugs aren't in the game even with the DLC: Dwebble/Crustle, Venipede/Whirlipede/Scolipede, Shuckle, Anorith/Armaldo, Sizzlipede/Centiskorch, and Durant.

I did a monotype bug run, and Skeledirge was no problem at all because lokix gets throat chop at level 36 and disables skeledirge's only fire move, and its only threatening move in general. If Lokix was just at level cap for that skeledirge fight, it would have survived

Throat chop Lokix.
If you had a speed natured or speed EV focused Lokix with throat chop (That learns at Lv 36 or via TM 221 with X2 scraggy sweat and X3 Zorua fur) you would be able to Nullify Skeledirge's torch song and save your bug run.

I actually used Rabsca on my playthrough team so I'm quite fond of the lil guy plus Revival Blessing is dope af (shame you can't use it here). Still weird to me that both it and Pawmot get the move meanwhile Brambleghast gets shafted by having no signature move and heck it's signature ability Wind Rider was even given to Shiftry 😕

I did a run of this it was pretty hard especially since I wasn’t able to evolve my scyther
Bro I use too many bug types in a normal run I use like heracross and scyther
You could have used Throat Chop in the last Nemona fight to disable Torch Song. That way there could have been less casualties
