    I had not thought of using maternal descendants of brick wall ancestors. Interesting strategy that I will look into. I have one immigrant ancestor that we don’t really know where she is from but I do know some of the female line descendants. Thank you for the idea.

    Well, this is great news. Maybe when these upgrades happen at FTDNA perhaps I can get something of value out of the mtDNA test. As it is right now it's practically worthless.

      Your matriarch's sons would have inherited one X chromosome from their mother
