I've been making these for 45 years but I've always known them as Russian Teacakes. So many different names, Russian Teacakes, Mexican wedding cookies, Italian wedding cakes. All names fir the BEST cookie ever!!!!!❤

My mom would make these throughout the year, but she lived on the wild side and put the powdered sugar on the cookies while they were still really warm 😂 I miss those cookies, I haven’t had them since she passed away in 2015. I might have to try making them myself, happy memories 😊

My family has made these for 4 generations. I am the only one left. My younger sister absolutely loved them. Our great auntie always made them especially for her.
My family lived in California and my grandmother lived in El Paso. We visited often. Our little auntie would make some of them for our trip home just for my sister Sherry. She would put tissue paper in an old movie film container. That was in the 50’s. It’s one on my favorite memories of my sister and our great auntie. They look yummy!!! I make something similar, I call them Russian Teacakes. I don’t add cinnamon and I replace the vanilla with almond extract, also mine calls for 2 & 1/4 cups of flour. They stay in a ball shape. I roll in powdered sugar right out of the oven, then roll again when cooled.
One of my favorite cookies. I made about 1 thousand of them for my daughters big fat Mexican wedding. They were a hit!!!!

Almost every day I get "Did you cook today"? (This includes my son's & grandsons) ...I always have something on the stove or crockpot. My mom worked for C & H sugar and this was one of their recipes. They were called just pecan balls. They didn’t have the cinnamon. The recipe called for chopping the pecans fine. Also you rolled the cookies while hot and the you rolled them in the sugar while cool. You made them small so they would just pop in your mouth. I just made them yesterday. So good !

My husband's favorite cookie is Russian Tea Cakes, which are just like these Mexican Wedding Cookies. Then I was at a Christmas party about 10 years ago and my friend served Swedish Tea Cakes. My husband asked me to bake these for him. So that's what I've been baking since. They are also similar to Mexican Wedding Cookies. I have been baking 7 recipes of different European-style cookies since then. Except for this year!! I also look for cute boxes or tins. I love your channel, Rachel...

I found some upright tins at my local Dollar General, so I bought 3. 1 Snowman, 1 Santa, and 1 Nutcracker. I used them for different kinds of candies and nutty snacks that I made. If you root around at any dollar store, you can find a container for anything. LOL. Great video.

I have used whole wheat flour which gives them even more of a nutty flavor. Have never tried the cinnamon but it sounds like a delicious addition.

These are one of my favorite cookies to bake and to eat. I like to make a new variation from time to time.
Try with different nuts and /or extracts. Replace a little of the flour with cocoa powder. Add malt powder. Stir in some lemon zest. Use honey in place of the sugar in the cookie. Use molasses and brown sugar. Add crushed peppermint to the cookie and for rolling. Roll in cinnamon sugar. Roll in cocoa/powdered sugar. The possibilities go on and on...
I make a ton ( almost lol ) for the holidays. My family loves them and so do I 😊
