Crossing my fingers that my $10 offer for the LP is accepted
Wishing you the best of luck
Crap, I bid $9.99😔
I like your chances
@@hiimawasteoftime8678 I really think I'm gonna win this one....
Lol good luck with that
Played support to the Stones in Rome, 1966.
Whilst leaving the gig there were 2 guitar cases unguarded left near the loadout, very risky, very stealworthy.
Our drummer and I decided to keep an eye on them until their git tech arrived and sat on them to wait.
I unlocked the case I sat on to see what git it was and to my amazement it was Keiths Black 50s Custom........ he was lucky not to loose it.
Move on to 1978, i did the sound on the Small Faces reunion tour. Steve Marriot, during an all night story telling session in my hotel room, told me someone turned up at a SF gig in London carrying a guitar case (not sure when), and asked him if he wanted to buy a 50s Custom LesPaul.
Knowing Keiths had been stolen ( and i seem to remember he said he knew the guitar well because he previously owned it) he gave him £100 and told him to f off.
The next day he phoned Keith to tell him the great news and gave it back to him.
What a great guy Steve was...rip.
Of course, i can't say it was This Custom in the video or how many LP Customs Keith has owned......... an interesting question for Keef.
Incidentally, I swapped a vintage, beaten up Sunburst Telecaster with Steve in 1967 (I think), he loved the worn look of it, before it was in fashion and gave me his Pink 59 LP Special....... both of them are on Small Faces youtube vids.👍🇬🇧
🤔
Live With Me by Humble Pie is my favorite song of Steve Marriott. He absolute kills the vocals
Ok Go!
@@BParker55 Ah yes the youtube detective, leaving useless emojis since forever.

I new it was about time that Tyler played another very expensive and famous guitar!!👍😂
Imagine getting paid handsomely to play the most iconic guitars in history... My man Tyler has reached the pinnacle of a GuitarTuber's career (short of breaking out of YT to become a mainstream artist). Congrats buddy!🤘
He certainly deserves it.
Paid? Did I miss something here? Id that is true I hope its enough to buy this guitar!
All he needs is a cigarette and some heroin for that guitar
@@stevescontriano860 It's kind of like the Sword in the Stone. The guitar actually won't let you play it unless you have a ciggy in your mouth and heroin rushing through your veins. If you don't the strings will cattle prod you as soon as you touch them.
@@lamp4765 So in your opinion Tyler's career has peaked. GOT IT!!
Who even uses Billbored (SIC) as a gauge of success any way?
Imagine making a comment 4 months ago and trying to anticipate asinine comments that would be made in the future, only to have said anticipatory statements scrutinized in an asinine comment that completely misses the point of the OP! 🤣🤣
I appreciate the cringe irony. LoL
This thing sounds unlike any other LP I've heard. I love it!
Yeah, it has a very distinctive tone.
Fascinating instrument.
I'm fairly certain that it's 3 volumes and a master tone up top so you use the volume knobs to choose your pickup/pickups.
Makes sense
Probably why they are marked as such. I picked up on that, right about the time Tyler pointed out it had a master tone where the pickup selector switch goes. Definitely an interesting mod.
Exactly. I had a 3-pup custom and this configuration is called the Mickey Backer Mod. Much like an old ES-5 with p-90s. (Pre-Switchmaster).
@@tfriesen3866 design mod, most likely manufactured that way.
i think Gram Parsons owning it is just as cool as Richards owning it
I don't think a guitar could ask for two more interesting and talented owners. If that guitar could talk...
@@aprilkurtz1589 if it could, I picture it talking like Keef lol. I mean, can you imagine the shit that old Black Beauty must've seen back then? lmao
Ditto, and knowing the context of their friendship and how important they were to eachother... just makes it the most special guitar in the world.
Certainly there are fewer guitars out there that have been owned by Gram.
I haven't seen any proof of their ownership; just a story from the person who is selling it... Very tricky.
That guitar throws out some of the most unique tones I have ever heard from an electric guitar. Very interesting.
If that guitar could speak, it would say "Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm a man of wealth and taste."
Cool ain't it!!!
If that guitar could speak, it would just cough incessantly from the nonstop cigarette smoke
Peter Framton played a similar guitar, and Framton was able to make all kind of great sounds with it. I'd love to see footage of Keith Richards playing this guitar
The clean tones of that guitar are astounding. Really amazing, when I heard the clean tones I immediately felt "that almost sounds like a piezo acoustic..." Really cool. But the heavy overdriven tones are totally different.
That thing looks wild, I feel like only Keith would have something like that but it definitely has some awesome tones
What an amazing experience!!! Thank you Tyler!
The sound is awesome; not at ALL what I was expecting, but I love it. The first taste of crunch on there was just... wow.
Reminds me of something Ace Frehley would have played? Sounds surprisingly bright for a custom, yet has the ability to get some fat tones when dialed in. Definitely a bit different but still has that old school vibe. Very cool!
Wow, that has some amazing tones! Great playing too!
I love when you partner with the auction companies.
This is one of my top ten most beautiful guitars ever! I’ve been in love with that look since I first saw Peter Frampton’s (slightly different designs yes). You see that gloss black with gold trim with three humbuckers, it’s almost too beautiful to play, thankfully it sounds so good you need to play🤘🏻
That last solo gave some serious steely Dan vibes
The tone on that first riff was like a quilt that my granny stitched together for me. Warm and lovely.
Omg that tone was beautiful. It sounds full I would’ve thought it was a doubled take so rich and full
That is a wild guitar! Has a lot of sonic possibilities. Also, I'm loving the Periphery hoodie in the ending jam!
the tones are just wow on this thank you for this vid
9:30 you totally nail a Jeff Beck Blow by Blow sound....amazing instrument, have never seen that model and been looking at and owned Gibsons many many years.
Really really cool nostalgic and informative video.... thanks for sharing this video...!!!!
That right there is one monster guitar and that tone is just so incredibly fabulous!
What Im wondering is how much does that bone (or mother of pearl or plastic) saddle has to do with that tone. Im betting a lot.
Very cool. I wasn't digging on the clean sounds that much, then you out that capo on it and "oh yeah!!" Vibin'
Then the gain....🔥🔥🔥
I would love to jam out with you one day and learn some new things, I’ve been playing under a year. Ever since I’ve been watching your videos, it has inspired me to learn more advanced songs. Thank you so much!
That guitar looks fantastic (particularly that binding) and sounds even better.
Thanks for just simply being the one to inform me who Mickey Baker even was. Instantly recognized the riff from that song "Love Is Strange", but could never find it because I never knew the name of the song either. Hence, I have another song now I've always wanted to learn.
I always pick up my guitar after watching any of your videos, it's become routine thank you.
that guitar sounds amazing , great demo Sir
My generation: "Whoa ... Keith Richards Guitar!!!"
My kids generation: "Whoa ... the guitar from Music is Win!!"
C'mon, if you have the slightest interest in guitar or for this channel, you know who Keith is !
This is probably one of the best guitars I have heard you demo.
Aw man, I really want to know what's going on with the controls. It's not that hard to tap a screwdriver on a pole of each pickup to see what's active. 3 volumes and a master tone would make sense.
The three knobs are volume specific to each pickup, the top knob is pickup blend/master tone type thing. Pretty neat.
Trogly did a video on the Mickey Baker. IIRC, it’s three volumes and a master tone. When you roll a volume pot down all the way, that pickup is silent, but unlike a typical LP, the other pickups remain in the circuit.
@@roebuckmckinney what I was going to say...3 volumes and a master tone.
I like to listen while you try this! Wow!
@@roebuckmckinney It sounds like this was modified from the stock configuration to me. The "Mastertone" doesn't appear to behave as a tone knob on this one. Further investigation is needed
I swear this man gets the best opportunity’s .great content!
Amazing!!!! I love the look and the tones are amazing!!!!! The fact that it was owned by Kieth Richards puts it WAY over the top with the cool factor!!!!! I wish I could afford it!
It was never owned by Keith Richards. Keith's 57 Custom has four knobs and he still owns it. Keith also used a 56 Custom with P90 pickups, which he also still owns.
I love the pick up blending instead of the switch.
Keef always used that guitar for all his Lydian needs. Seriously, that’s a very unique and cool Les Paul. Thanks for sharing with us!
I have a triple humbucker SG. When all 3 are engaged, it's a mellow yet airy sound. I use it on everything basically.
Who thinks it should go back to Keith if he wanted to buy it back?
Absolutely
I'd be all for that if he wanted it. He's probably long forgotten about it.
@@davidg1612 Maybe. But there’s always regret. He had other black customs since but no other Mickey Bakers. At least none I’ve seen
Everybody has their price and Richards is wealthy enough.
@@researchcapt ya, keith might be able to afford it if he trades a few guitars in beforehand.
Outstanding playing again Tyler, that was a fine old beat up beauty
Love the jacket Tyler! Couldn't have said it better myself!
That's some really nice sounding guitar !
This is real cool man keep making these I love em
You have a LP previously owned by Keith Richards and you start out with a clean finger picking that sounds like Eric Johnson? Crank that SOB!!!
Stoked you went way back to ya roots
never stop with this videos about iconnic guitars
Id love to have a Les Paul with that tonal range. I like a more acoustic sound with my electrics and I actually use a few guitars with Piezo bridges and when ya blend the acoustic and electric together its bliss.
I’m gonna watch some old Stones videos and see how Keith Richards messes with that top tone knob….fun….great video as usual!
Hard to believe anyone would let that guitar go, sounds like magic!
Amazing. And playing tool was a nice surprise too ☺️
I like the knob where the switch should be...it sounds amaze ballz
From what i remember the the 3 bottom controls are master volumes for all pickups and a master tone is the upper bell knob
That's a really cool setup on that classic LP.
The knob on the upper bout is a master tone control. The other 3 knobs are separate volume controls for each pickup. I love that guitar.
Makes no sense. How do you select each pup then? What a weird way of wiring a guitar.
Absolutely amazing guitar.
Very cool guitar playing
That is the coolest sounding famous guitar I have ever heard.
You must not have heard much....
Love this guitar
Wish I had money
Such a different tone. The intonation is incredible.
That was pretty badass actually. Might have to mod/or make an LP like that.
It makes u play Lydian cause you’re happy playing it haha. Damn love seeing these old guitars and their worn look. I would love to hear their stories behind them
That tone around the 8 minute mark is pretty special. 🤘
when u jammed out at the end.....i thought you were Chris Buck. nice angles dude (camera!)
WHAT is that wiring? I love it. I might have to clone that wiring myself one if there's a circuit somewhere.
My god nothing is better then a triple pickup black beauty I love my original Frampton bb so many magical tones hidden in those knobs
I love the pickups on this guitar
would love to see you make video of you playing bass
Would like to see you review some more suhr guitars and gear!
Yes! please do a pickup video, I wanna rock, should I get JBSH4 or Active pickups?
Sounds like Child of the Moon (on 06:25), which was played with LP Custom. Pickup frames look like they have been replaced.
I sounds alot like the sound of the guitar used on the 1974 album "It's only Rock and Roll" album, especially " Finger Print File".
After such a great demo some one will buy it.
That is one COOL LP!!! YOU should get it Tyler!!! Bethany will understand!
I have the Epi 1955 reissue version of the Gibson Les Paul Custom with P-90 pickups in which this guitar resembles almost to the "T". The color is basically the same, the binding, the inlay work on the head stock, as a matter of fact, just all around but of course tonality is different. my "55" has a gigantic baseball bat neck!!! Was wondering if that guitar has the same? Pretty darn cool guitar man, really love those tones you are getting from it. Now see what you have done, i HAVE TO go buy a 3 humbucker Les Paul. I have 27 guitars now, where in Gods name am i going to put it>!! LOL THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL !!!
Oh man... What sweet tone, yes, very "piezo/acoustic." Such an odd, cool bird. And I liked that intro groove.
It has been a long time since the last time I heard a guitar sound so different!
The tone is to die for
That thing is ridiculous! Makes me want to buy a guitar kit and build a copy.
@Music Is Win, have yourself build a guitar with pickups under each neck position. So a guitar with 0 to 22 neck range would have 22 neck pickups.
Would be a nice experiment. NBD? Weird, but fun!
I have a 3-pup LP copy with one pup out-of-phase. When all 3 are on it definitely sounds piezo/acoustic.
Effin amazing sound. Really focused.
I believe that guitar has three individual volumes and only one time known in the pick up selector position, very cool guitar!
This guy pulled off that Tool bassline on a guitar... what..lol. I'm jealous that you got to play this piece of history. Goes to show what a little hard work will get you. Keep rocking!
Those Alnico short mag pickups are Godlike and perhaps second only to the original PAFs for tone
Blend Pots are nice. Have one in my fender strat. Omg, the choices I have for different sounds.
7:40 dude!!! right there. What a tone!!!
7:04 didn't see that beauty of a riff come!
I don't even remember when was the last time I saw Tyler use a capo that guitar can really mind control you and give directions to how it wants to get played
Beautiful guitar!
You need to buy that ASAP.
I like the idea of three pickups with a volume control for each one, and the tone knob is pretty cool which controls all pickups together. Why does.t Gibson offer this? its a cool idea and seems to work real nice
I have an Epiphone custom Sg (1999) and it has the exact same thing with the pickups
@@kloeyjordan27 that is too cool. Richards in my opinion is a genius in many ways, I think he may have thought this one up. so did you also have the tone button like on this guitar? your sg could be worth something with that set up. did you have three pickups on your sg?
@@maloneschwartz669 yeah the tone and the pickups, mines a special edition (custom) so they’re pretty rare.
It would be nice, but you know Gibson would want $6000 or something absolutely ridiculous for it
While it’s cool, it seems like a pain to switch sounds on the fly. Probably good for home playing though.
Very unique sounding, it's got its own character.
That's a pretty brilliant guitar. I can dig it.
Sweet playing on a cool instrument 👍
The different tonal configurations you can do with this guitar are incredible. So many freaking options. He didn't even explore how it sounds with only the bridge, or only the neck. Imagine if you could split each humbucker with a coil tap. Man this thing really is a tone tank
For a comparison of tones, the Trogly's Guitar Show channel on YT has a video where he tests out one of the 1998 re-issues. Video is "3 Knobs in a Row? | 1998 Gibson "Mastertone" Mickey Baker".
Just passing that along in case anyone wants to geek out a bit more.
Sounds amazing.
64-66 you found Keith using that quite a bit.
That classic riff on 19th nervous breakdown I think was used for it
And Satisfaction
