  • It's Chestermania 2021 at The Babylon Bee and Kyle and Ethan are joined by the President of the Society of G.K. Chesterton, Dale Ahlquist. Dale has been called the greatest living authority on the life and work of G.K. Chesterton and has authored five books on Chesterton, including Common Sense 101: Lessons from Chesterton and G.K. Chesterton: Apostle of Common Sense. Why should people start reading Chesterton and where should they begin? What are some of Chesterton's big concepts that help to unlock an understanding of his writings? What would Chesterton say about Cheetos?
Be sure to check out The Society of Gilbert Keith Chesterton at: www.chesterton.org/
Kyle, Ethan, and Dale, accompanied by Adam Yenser, play a special edition of Real or Fake where the headlines are all supposedly weird news headlines from a hundred years ago. They discuss how prophetic Chesterton was and talk about his prominent books and essays that you must read to not waste your life. Then in the subscriber portion, they discuss cheese and Chesterton’s big concepts that he returned to again and again throughout his life’s work. Dale answers subscriber-submitted G.K. Questertons and is subjected to The Ten Questions! Click Join on CZcams to watch the whole episode!

I used to watch Dale's show all the time on EWTN when I lived with my parents, and that got me into reading Chesterton's books.

I've always been someone who enjoys quiet and prefer being alone. But a few years ago I started taking 4-5 days every couple months to camp alone. It's been a life changer. I take my Bible, a really comfy blanket and my Jesus ❤️ everything in my life got better. Just being silent with nature, hot tea, lots of time for prayer. I have exceedingly more patience and I'm emotionally stronger etc... It's so worth it.

The problem with deception is that people don’t realise that they are deceived 😥

I have a friend and we used to see if we could cite Chesterton on a daily basis. Basically, our feeling was he was so relevant to the present that we'd be able to use him in any discussion.

I hope this blesses some... 🙏
I was 5 years of chronic illness! I was Semi Housebound, lost my health, job, finances and my fiance left me. I couldn't even look at electronic screen for 5 minutes, or hold a 10-minute conversation.
But God did an amazing work.
I now have a Christian Channel where I encourage people and show them what God did in my life and that there is hope for you also. ✝️🔥😊
*Keep believing even when it's hard* 🙏❤️🔥
*All things are possible with God*

I'm one who made it through Orthodoxy and didn't get much of it, but he gives you just enough of those great quotes to keep you hanging on.

What would Chesterton have said about "Lake cow bacon"?
Obviously, he would have pointed out that it's properly "River horse bacon", but that wouldn't sell as well.

Well, he's right that no one knows who Samuel Cowper is. That would be a shame if he messed with the section about William Cowper, though. As something of a contemporary Calvinist myself, that was a rather affecting section for me in the original Orthodoxy.

I'm horrified that someone has presumed to change Chesterton's own words in his own book. That's not a translation. To those who are interested in reading Orthodoxy, I offer this encouragement: Make sure you get the real thing. Give yourself a little time to think about the more challenging passages, but don't let anyone rob you of the true experience of reading Chesterton.
