On the 28th there’s the Gothenburg Derby Ifk Göteborg vs. GAIS as well. Would be awesome if you could do a double visit and a comparison!
As Selenes said the Gothenburg Derby is on the 28th, it will be played on the big stadium.

Experience one of the Stockholm derbies between either AIK-Djurgården, Djurgården-Hammarby or AIK-Hammarby. Or the gothenburg derby between GAIS and IFK Göteborg.

Welcome to Sweden! Hope you had a good stay here. 7:14 that stadium, Ullevi, actually hosted the 1992 UEFA Euro final, and when IFK Göteborg were regulars in the UCL in the 90s they actually beat Manchester United at that very stadium!

Foremost, it hosted the 1958 World Cup where Sweden lost in the final to Brazil, where a 16 year old Pelé made his sensational international breakthrough.
Also the naming makes No sense, since the newest stadium is called the old stadium and the oldest stadium is called the new stadium
@@Jonsson474Not true. The final was played at Råsunda in Stockholm. And Pelé was 17. Ullevi was one of the tournament arenas though, and Brazil did play there earlier in the tournament.
The large Ullevi stadium you looked at has a capacity of 40 000 seats for sports events or 75 000 for concerts when the field is used as stage and standing audience area. The smaller one (16 600 seats) where you watched IFK - Elfsborg is called "Old Ullevi" even though it is a lot newer. This may seem confusing, but it is built on the same spot as the original Ullevi stadium once was located, so it is geopgraphically correct. This is also a hint of the infamous "Gothenburg humour", "-What do we name the new one, New Ullevi is already taken by the old one. - Well, let's call it Old Ullevi then!"
The large Ullevi stadium have hosted everything from the 1995 World Championships in Athletics to Motorcycle Speedway World Cup Finals to Madonna, Coldplay and Metallica. And of course a bunch of football games througout the years. The smaller one I believe is exclusively used for football.

If you will visit sweden again, go to Stockholm and watch a derby. There are three derby teams Hammarby, AIK and Djurgården
A little extre info about the larger arena which hasnt been talked about by others.
Ullevi was together with a couple of other stadiums built for the 1958 world cup.
It was a engineering sensation as the first Stadium to have floating roof all around the arena.
Many other arenas around the world have used Ullevi as inspiration since then both in Portugal, Japan and Brazil to name a few.
The 1958 WC was also the first Live Televised World Cup.
Bruce Springsteen has done many classical concerts on Ullevi but the most legendary of them all was in 1985 when he literally broke the foundation of the arena.
The underground garage was built as a part of the new foundation.
Jonathan Edwards famous world record jump over 18 meters was done during the 1995 world cup athletics on the arena.

If you want atmosphere and best matches in sweden then you have to see matches between Malmö, AIK, Hammarby and Djurgården. Those matches are always on fire
Fyi about the questions you got asked at the airport: They wan't to see your tickest to know you are telling the truth about your purpose for visiting, they also want to see your flight home to make sure your visit is for a reasonable time considering the purpose of your visit (staying 2 months for example isn't reasonable if your purpose is to watch a football game). Its just random questioning they do sometimes.

Glad to hear you guys had a great weekend, we(IFK Göteborg) have had some pretty rough years as far as performance on the pitch goes, but hopefully, at some point in the near future we will get things right and get back to where we belong, in the top of the table! ;)

The song AIK Ultras sing 28:21 is a tribute to the most matches played AIK, Per Karlsson. The lyrics is ”Oh Per Karlsson, worlds best Karlsson, he never scores goals, but he is still the best” They sang it because he was most know for hard work, passion and loyalty for the club and to never give up, the fans have had enough of poor performances with players give up when opponents score. Becuase we AIK-fans only have one expectation of our players and thats hard job without the ball.

You should really try out a derby in Stockholm. When AIK plays against Hammarby or Djurgården. Them derby’s is MENTAL..
So IFK Göteborg is one of the most successful Swedish clubs historically (18 League titles, semi-finalist in the European cup), Häcken is more successful lately (Champions 2022) but the former has more fans by far. Häcken is the club that organizes Gothia Cup (which by some is called the Youth World Cup) through which they make a lot of money which could be why they are more "Family-friendly"
Not to mention the two UEFA cup titles that IFK’s got.
The stadium you watched the game at is the same stadium my class lost my friend during a class trip, we were not from Gothenburg and it was on the way to the train home so we were quite relieved when we found him

If u wanna see a classic derby game in Sweden it should be Gais VS IFK. The history between those clubs goes back to the 1890s
You should go to the Stockholm derby between djurgården and aik you Will not regret it I promise it’s one if not the best atmosphere you can finde in European football

Safe to say you visited the polar opposites when it comes to fanbase in swedish football. IFK Göteborg one of the biggest in sweden with incredible support every game despite the tough couple of years behind them. Then go to Häcken who is one of the smallest clubs in Swedish top tier and only recently got a little bit of a fanbase because of the recent good times for the club, with emphasis om "little bit of a fanbase". IFK Göteborg might be the biggest and most famous club in Gothenburg, but Häcken is the best in teams of football ability and has been for the past like 8 years. Only exception was 2021 when Häcken was really bad for some reason.
After the IFK game it was a big thank you to a player that has ended. Something extra.
