I recorded this on VHS the night it was shown. It’s fantastic to see it again. I was a young bass player and it was Derek Forbes who convinced me that the Fender Precision Bass wasn’t a boring old relic. The two he uses here changed my mind. ✌️❤️
Was that the feeling at the time about traditional fender instruments? What were the contemporary alternatives?
@@rezthered Musicman and Wal had established themselves as alternatives at that point and Steinberger, Vigier and Status were emerging. Aria and Ibanez were getting increasing attention too along with Ken Smith and Fodera.
I’m sure I’ve missed a few . Fender remained a favourite throughout with many players though.

Sparkle In The Rain had such an explosive sound ! The drums 🥁 of Mel Gaynor really propell the songs with Steve Lillywhite Producing. Fantastic album 👌.
