@@xnAqua Yeah but as I understand it Season 3 finished with filming before even the US went on lockdown. Its literally just sitting in a vault somewhere and will only be released in 2021. I guess I can understand why they did it. If they released Season 3 now they'll feel more pressure getting to finish with the filming of Season 4( which had become impossible with the whole COVID 19 pandemic) and so by postponing the release by a year they're at least buying some time with having to start filming on Season 4 which kind of makes sense. I know there is also editing involved but from what I understand the footage has already been filmed and edited and the plan was to release it in 2020.

Joseph Strong I can see your point. But I think you might be referring more towards a “remake” if they changed everything completely (like they did with the Jackie Chan / Jaden Smith version).
The way I interpreted this was that the series has been laying dormant (or shall we say “Brumating”... thanks Kreese, ha) for over 30 years.
But you are right to a certain degree when you say “sequel” because it has kept many of the original elements to the series (i.e. Actors, locations, storyline, etc.). However, the way of filming the continuation of this story has been expanded and adapted to the modern craze for shows with multiple seasons.
It sorta reminds me of an old computer that has been upgraded with modern software, even though it still presents itself with its original appearance, it’s capabilities are now greater than ever before.
Q: What must you do to run your new software in full effect?
A: Reboot!

Joseph Strong I think the lines have been blurred between sequel and reboot... I’m happy to settle on it being a hybrid being that it contains elements of both. A similar example would be the movie TRON Legacy.

That season 2 finale school fight was the best the episode of all and one of the best school fight scenes ever. Literally got me screaming all the way till the end...
This is one of the best shows ever. Written perfectly to respect the original Karate Kid film, it masterfully pulls you in and makes you care for all of the characters.

I've really enjoyed the show. I'm looking forward to season 3, but I think the end of season 2 was a bit too over the top.

Very bad things, evil things in evil times happened to Kreese, and he spreads evil, he spread it to Johnny and his friends, they hurt others and themselves, but broke free, mostly. Daniel and Johnny both have good intentions as teachers, but both are human, not perfect. Daniel has a very good teacher to emulate, but still has problems, Johnny has not really thought about what he should have got rid off in CK, perhaps he should have visited and tried some other dojos to see how others instruct? Now it has in a major part been Miguel and Aisha who taught him ... Which was good but not enough.
Daniel needs to defeat his enemy by becoming his friend.
Rukh Daniel reacts, without thinking through the consequences, yes but he is trying to stop something he has every reason to believe is evil, Cobra Kai, and Johnny tries to reform Cobra Kai, and fails, instead he makes a "gateway for the demon" , Kreese. Both do stupid things that have bad consequences, but neither is evil. This is part of the story, sometimes mostly good people, do bad things, despite their good intentions.

I love this show! I was a huge Karate Kid fan growing up. I received both seasons of Cobra Kai on DVD for Christmas (with the headband!) and finished binge-watching them today! Love the respect and care taken with this great series and all the nods to the originals. It is rare to have a reboot/remake/re-imagining where you get original characters and actors, sets and props to be a part of the new series. I eagerly anticipate season 3 (or more). It just keeps getting better!

just binged both seasons. thought it was gonna be another remember the 80s rehash cashgrab with a sad return of actors wayyy past their prime. turns out to be one of the best shows ive seen in years. perfectly paced, great in depth drama, perfect amount of shlock. goes off the rails at the right moments and I love it. never expected it to end up this way, cant wait for S3.

I think they knew that before the aired Season 2.
When Karate Kid came out in 84'' I was 14 and it left a huge impression on me. Ever since it's always been my favorite so when I heard there was a CZcams series I didn't want to watch because 9 out of 10 times it's always a let down. This series has defied those odds and become a continuation of the movies that takes the whole franchise to another level of greatness. Big props to William Zabka! He was only gIven bad boy roles growing up and finally he gets to be the good guy. This series must go on for years and please for the love of God 🙏🙏🙏 Elisabeth Shue COME HOME!!!

Im not taking Karate but this show has motivated me to lose 40 ilbs and hire a personal trainer to get in shape. I listen to Cobra Kai season 2 soundtrack on my Ipod as i work out, I bought off of Itunes!
Watching this show makes me want to get back into taking karate and finish getting my black belt. (I was a red belt about to take my first black belt test) when I got pregnant with my first child 13 years ago. I got back into it 5 years ago, quit again when I got pregnant with my 3rd child. Now I want my kids to take karate. My five year old daughter wants to take it, even more than dance or gymnastics.

Love the show, but I'm going to slightly disagree with everybody asking for the episodes to be longer. One of the things I appreciate is how tightly it's scripted. I just want them to tell their story at whatever length works best.

I don't mind the 30 min episodes. It's worked well so far. What'd be nice though, is because of the binge-ability of the shorter episodes, would be if they could release the seasons more quickly, maybe a 6-8 month cycle instead of 12 months. I'm eager to get back to it!

Same. Longer episodes wouldn't really add anything and more episodes only makes sense if they have the content for them. I don't care if the season are 10, 12, 20, 30, or however many episodes as long as it fulfills the story they want to tell. Don't add a bunch of stuff just for the sake of more episodes or longer run times...
Ruskad if it is quality content why not make it an hour or 45 minutes. It's on CZcams. It doesn't have to be a certain time limit like television does...

Everyone blows through the seasons too fast. I'd rather they released just one 45 minute episode per week for 20 weeks than the 10 - 30 min episodes all at once.
They should make however many episodes in whatever length best fit the story they want to tell..not the other way around. The advantage of making a series for streaming is that you don't have to fit the regulations forced on you by a network to fit into their catalog.
