Avoidance of another birth. My child was born 17 years ago and the Birth was traumatic with a PPH after. Despite a lot of attempts to get help with mental health after I was just diagnosed with anxiety and depression. No connection was made to my trauma. In fact my psychologist point blank asked me if I had any traumatic experiences in the past and I said the birth of my child. She just ignored that and moved on. Not the trauma she was looking for obviously. So avoidance for me was not having another child. Something I sorely regret now. I have one child as a result of avoidance.

Rachel I'm so so sorry your psychologist missed it. I find this is far too common. Mental health professionals were not taught the importance of this issue and they are frankly just missing it. It is often misdiagnosed as anxiety and depression and often overlooked in intake questions. You're not alone.
I do have an online free group on FB if you want to join. We have plenty of people who are decades out from their trauma- Birth Trauma Support Group.

Thank Krysta. You are making a difference. I ended up years later seeing a psychologist who specialises in PTSD. I did some EMDR and found a lot of healing over time. I am in Australia. I know in Australia they have a group now called Australian Birth Trauma. Talking about it is so important. Thankyou

I'm watching this as I sob from a memory of my last birth, 5.5 years ago, where I almost bled out on the OR table. I'm still not ok.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. Hemorrhage is one of the scariest things in my experience. Just so out of control and rapid.

This is so helpful and beautifully done. I'll show this in my birth doula training workshops from now on. I'd love to talk with you about teaching some live classes and workshops for us at Sierra Childbirth Institute. I'll contact you soon!

I'd like to know something,if u can make the time of thinking about it n answering...The mom is traumatized. Can somehow the baby also be,the feelings transmitted to the baby? The more I think about, the more likely it seems to me.First the womb, the umbilical cord and the chemicals transmitted according to how the mom is feeling...I am no doctor n barely any knowledge and also no child...But some things r logic n that i can grasp....Now,back to what I was saying...During the labor, according to what is happening to the mom n what she thinks, feels, etc, her body will be packed with specific chemicals.Which pass to the baby...On top of this, also the after behaviour of the mom once the baby born...Won't this also affect the infant? In what ways,I have no idea...N it is worse with the baby as the baby can't express himself...What if some of their stressing behaviour is also due to this? Hey...I have no clue...But I do think it is worth thinking about this.I'd love to know ur thoughts on this. Thank u

This is a great question and the short answer is "we don't know" for sure. APPPAH is an organization that seeks to understand this issue specifically. I recommend connecting with their website and see if it offers you any direction.
We do know that the impacts of severe trauma can cause epigenetic changes and those can be inherited. But this isn't specifically about the womb. We do also know that there are long term consequences to untreated trauma in the maternal/infant dyad. But again- that doesnt' pinpoint the womb because untreated trauma changes SO many things it's impossible to nail it down.
I do personally believe that fetuses are resilient. They would have to be because most of human history is very very hard. So while I suspect there is an impact I also suspect that the unborn are pretty good at weathering if they are given lots of love and stability in early childhood. Hope that helps! It's an interesting and important question.

@@KrystaDancyTherapy Thank you, Krysta...😅I had to read what i said to remember what was the email i received about...I agree with u...It crosses my mind that being resilient is good but that doesn't mean that what one endures doesn't also cause some negative consequences...for example, perspectives, ways of thinking things r (based on the tougher experience)...that will make one behave in a certain way...I haven't seen the video again n i cannot remember n i m on my way home,in sub n tired n too...distracted to think about this now...I do want to express my gratitude though for ur reply 🙏😘All the best

My birth experience strait up killed my faith in God and the medical system. If there is a God then they sure as hell don’t give a damn about me and my life

I'm so sorry that happened to you :( I had 4 traumatic births out of my 7 children (apparently I like to be extra like that). I have lost a lot of faith in the medical system, but never in God. I definitely had to work through some rough patches in my faith, but I could never do this life without a belief in God. God saved me and my beautiful children. This broken world can suck, but God has so much better things in store for those who believe in Him. I hope that you find true healing from you birth experience! Obviously I still am working through a few things myself since I found my way to this video. We are all a work in progress.

that's cause they do it at hospital, have home birth, keep kids intact, eat vegan during pregnancy, 3 push squatting in tub, baby comes out, healthy, happy, meow

Yeah that isnt always how it is. I had my baby all natural at a birthing center, labored in water, and did everything right when I was pregnant and still had a traumatic birth.

Yes the child had rights to body autonomy and should be left intact to choose that elective surgery for himself because there is alot of trauma behind that when it is not consented for by the one having it done
