I just heard that Ms. Dent has passed away April 15, 2022 after her battle with Parkinson's. I loved watching this episode and learned a lot about painting on metal blades. R.I.P. Ms. Dent, and God Bless.
Oh no, that's so sad. Thanks for letting us know. I wish your comment had more upvotes so people would see it :(
Parkinson's is an evil disease.... just awful how dreadful :-(
🥺😥
My mom died from Parkinsons as well... absolutely horrible disease. RIP Ms. Dent, your battle is over.
Oh no that makes me sad :( I loved her on this show.
I have never once looked at a saw blade and thought, that could really use a nice landscape.
LMAO for real tho
Well sir. There's always a first time for everything!
Me neither but now I have many ideas to do
There are no mistakes, just happy saw blades
Lol
Holy mother of southern accents.
Well, more of a south Midwestern. She doesn't have that deep drawl. It's more of an accent that comes from areas that reside between upper Midwest and the South. In Illinois your Chicagoan is going to sound VERY different from southern Illinois that borders Kentucky. (Plus the opinions and attitudes are night and day as well.)
"...and ahm jus' gonna puff in this folage..." along with the "HWITE" and stretching single syllable words into two syllables sounds exactly like my brother-in-law's entire family. They're from Jasper, Alabama.
@@PandawdyBob Bob mentioned that fact at the beginning of the episode.
Holy mother of mother nature, that's a nice painting.
XD what! (?)hhhbgbg vygvuhbuhjnbjnhjubjhnjknjmk khibi ih j !
Her brushes must be full of devils :(
It's Kyzaah need some beats
😦
Smelly devils.
Beat 'em out.
Nope, she squess the devils out of it
yup, not once did she beat the devils out of them.
this is one of the most american things ive ever seen
sweet
Omg in the 90's everyone I knew had a painted saw blade! Such nostalgia!
This episode aired in 1984 so this was probably one of the artists that did it before it was popular.
She is a *fantastic* instructor. I can't believe there are any negative comments.
SHE DIDN'T BEAT THE DEVIL OUT OF IT the clouds are full of devil's
Agreed. If Bob ross thinks she's good, than I think she's good.
Kids always act up with a substitute teacher. They can't help it. I blame bad parenting.
I mean, you can't really follow Bob Ross after 3 seasons. Hell, you can't really follow up after Bob at all.
Been looking for 30 minutes haven’t seen one negative comment.
fuck yeah! I've been wanting to know how to paint a saw blade. I have so many saw blades to paint. saw blades!
Tim Daugherty you like saw blades? if you don't think you have enough saw blades i have a lot of saw blades i can send to you so you can have plenty of saw blades. i dunno if you can send saw blades in the mail though
Vaas Montenegro: Did I ever tell you the definition of saw blades?
She smirked at someone when she said "work around the hole" lmaooooooooo
11:50 OMG YOU'RE RIGHT!
She also says "HWITE"... I'm starting to think I've been saying that word wrong :(
They're acknowledging the H
I guess he made them to say Hwite in order to be in his show.
Japanese also say "howaito" :D
Maybe she's Jared's cousin
@@fb3798 WTF😂
She has the cutest accent! It just reminds me of a sweet grandma that makes a lot of pecan pie
She'd call it PEE-can pie, though.
Dorothy would get her own series "The Joy of Country Painting" a few years later.
she's amazing!
So she DID get her own series? 😮 That's fantastic.
@@FC_ULTIMATE And ? He's just excited
That would be amazing.
@@FC_ULTIMATE r/pshhhh
That accent and her eloquence! I absolutely loved this tutorial. I could not stop watching.
OMG! With her adorable accent I thought she was going to paint LAMBS. She's got mad skills though. I bet she was an art teacher.
I wish she “beat the devil out of it” like bob does lmao that would’ve been amazing

"Allow that black to work for you." Triggering intensifies. X{D
Oh lord. lol
I thought slavery ended a long time ago
Should I feel bad for thinking that’s funny?
Yeah, those African Americans and liberals take the history of slavery so seriously. It was so long ago anyway, so why do they have to keep bringing the subject up?
I mean, they should be like a lot of white folk who get massively triggered about really important issues, like non-threatening caravans of brown families, or imaginary Wars On Christmas, or background checks on firearms, etc.
FFS!
😂😂😂😂😂
Please forgive me, but I burst out loud laughing between 11:49 and 11:55. Listen to what she says very carefully, then see the little smile she has on her face as she looks up!
LOL
I am crying at this comment! Too funny
i noticed that too! shes uhh a naughty girl haha
I didn't see a smile.
@@RetroFan it's more of a smirk
She did a really good job! You can tell she had lots of experience!

Bob: "We've got so many cards and letters wanting to know how to paint saw blades"
Bob you lost me. 10 seconds into the show and you completely lost me Bob
Murica..?
He was quoting those who wrote cards and letters "(I) want to know how to..".
Maybe Bob needs to beat the devil out of you for making a statement like that!
I need to know where these people came from. I can't imagine this is a normal interest.
@@andrewjenkins9965 its very common in the south and Midwest to paint a scene on old saw blades and use them as decorations at country stores and homes.
Well who ever came up with the idea of painting a portrait on a saw blade is a genius.
I could listen to her accent all day. :)
I love Dorothy Dent, I have several of her books, I love her paintings, I fell she is a wonderful teacher, ‘this is beautiful. I’ve always loved Bob, he’s great too.👍👍👍👍♥️😃😃
This lady is pretty METAL.
What a nice lady. I love her voice.
Very relaxing voice.
Very relaxing voice.
I love snow scape paintings it makes me think and miss my hometown in Alaska.
I really appreciate how eloquent and direct she is with her lecture work. I would have appreciated learning under her.
Oh my goodness. This woman is compelling. Her voice is mesmerizing
Doesn't beat the devil out of it
Me: oh wow she isn't worthy....
Says hwhite: SHE IS WORTHY!
Her hwhite is even more impressive than Bob's.
WOW, I am from the south but this lady is a Southern bell.. from WAY SOUTH!!! Dorthey Dent is soo amazing btw. Very nice snow painting.
*TOP 10 SIDE CHARACTERS THAT DESERVES THEIR OWN SHOW*
She did have her own show it was called "The Joy of Country Painting".
Really enjoyed her accent. I guess you love it or you hate it.
I think for me I don't like it--not fork e accent but she never seems to take a breath. No pause, no break. Just never lets up. Bob's thing was always talking softly and only when he felt he needed to. He tended to talk less towards the later part of most episodes because he wasn't doing nearly as much as the start.
Her accent is really relaxing.
Moon I love it ♥️
@@neosquirrel - I agree. She didn't know when to shut the f--k up.
Bob: happy little trees 😊
Dorothy: squiggly little limbs 😊
I felt cheated by the lack of Bob, but she turned me around as soon as she said hwite.
Love the accent.
I like how Bob Ross and all the other instructors painted trees.🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, WONDERFUL WORK OF ART!!! She's amazing! 🙏💙❄
The way she snowed those bushes made me feel so good.
Pls don't delete this channel it's my freaking lifeline to relax and slow down
Bob was getting a lot of letters asking about painting saw blades 😂
"tend to hold the 'turp "
is she using turpentine? no wonder bob left the room.
This woman is awesome! I really enjoyed this painting.
Wow , what a painter. I love the idea of painting onto an old saw blade. ❤
I fell asleep to the previous episode and awoke to Dorothy and was so confused! I do enjoy her painting, though.
Her paintings have a noticeably different style, not better or worse, just different and it is always important to expand one's horizon :)

Painting on a saw blade? This is going to be awfu- whoa!
"You just want to go wiggly-wiggly. Real soft ..." These are hints for YOU, Mr. Dent ...
That is wrong on so many levels!!! 😂
wait coloring sawblades was a thing once? Crazy stuff, craaaazy stuff.^^ Where do you even get a blade like that? But I've gotta say, this is a pretty neat idea if you get somethign rustic that goes with that.
+FlamRoyalBaer how does one go about cutting a whole tree into timber?
Harawanagangsta chainsaw! Seriously I never saw any sawmills around here. Never saw such a thing on a scrap yard which we have little of anyway. So yeah I would get smaller ones no problem but this size? Maybe we have a rule for this thing. Even I can't imagine they have such crazy rules like at the airport. You want some old rope from the trash of the airport well you have to undergo allot of secrurity protocolls. So crazy.^^
But I guess in Alaksa it is much easier to find a sawmill than in Germany with less restrictions, expecially back then.
+FlamRoyalBaer must be an old saw blade....
Oh it's still a thing, but it's always been niche. The blades are easy to find at any hardware store that sells table saws. You probably never saw them unless you were actually in the market for one. But you could definitely find them in garage sales all the time provided you find a home that did home improvement.
it's an old sawmill, those things get worn out pretty quick so i guess if you go to a sawmill they'll have some there to throw away.
"The moistening!"
as usual, great guest we have here !
the most amazing thing ive learned is light in the background dark at the forefront. in art class when i was little we learned the complete opposite and i could never figure out all these years why my paintings didnt have the right look and the right feeling of depth. thanks Bob and Dorothy!!!!
Very American. You gotta love the accent and the style. Brings warmth to my heart for sure.
of the guests in series going forward i think this lady was the only one who got the most praise from the audience/youtube/twitch communities
A relative of mine used to paint saw blades when I was a kid. I didn't realise at the time that it was something other people did as well. She did a mailbox and a hacksaw blade at one point too, I think. hm.
Lord have mercy! The mother of all southern accents. This Georgia boy loves it, and the painting lesson too!
I have been fascinated with Bob's methods, inherited from mr. Alexander since starting watching from season 1. My face when seeing another painter come on the show. I did not think I'd enjoy this as much as Bob's sessions, but after a short while, I started enjoying this too! She has a unique style too, and it works as well! This just enforces the theory that no matter what technique you use, as long as you practice and put your heart into it, it will result in such masterpieces. Her accent is super to listen too, although somewhat too sharp sometimes. Either way, I really enjoyed this episode. It really broadened my horizon, and I hope to see more of other painters during the episodes.
Regarding negative comments about accents and the pronunciation of words- you sound delightful! And you’re still just as lovely AND your instructions are so easy to follow!!! Thank you for sharing your phenomenal talent! You’re delightful to watch and listen to-a true Treasure!
I remember watching her back in the 80's, she had her own show "The Joy of Country Painting"
Idk about you guys but I’ve always liked Bob’s guests. She was one of my favorites as well as Ben Stahl. He has had so many amazing painters on this show.
I'm digging the unusual short-sleeve sweater/shirt combo. Cozy!
Well I made it through the whole video..glad I did she did such a great job.
Best looking cut off saw on the block.
Wow, an amazing painting
Great painting techique and instructions.
That accent of hers is adorable.
She'll give you a real homestyle whippin' with her yard stick if you step out of line so you better behave yerself and paint real good.
She's good. And that accent, my word. I need insulin shots. Great choice by Mr. Ross.
My grandmas sister paints saw blades! We have some around the house and they are wonderful! I haven’t seen anyone else paint one!
I love her drawl, beautiful 🥰
While I like the old school saw blade painting, I even have one I've been saving just for this, I only want to see Bob...I'll come back to this one when I get ready to do mine...
She is just like Bob with trees.... bravery test!
Dang! Can't nap to this
Really? I can.
Her brush cleaning is not as satisfying
+Nolem She didn't beat the devil out of it! IT'S STILL POSSESSED!
There is no devil getting beat out of the brush
+Anthony Stuart you better not be a furry
+Quinn Leffingwell who cares?
wipe the devil out of it?
I love her voice
Once she said "go around the hole", then she gave the funniest look ever toward maybe bob ross giggling or something, and then she went and said, "bush". That's when I lost it!!! And then, everything after that became a "pun" explosion. She said stuff like, "moist", "brown bushes"(I think), "white snow", "snow droplete", "snow drop off", "snow cover pebble rock chucks", "double load", "bare", "old post", snow so hard everywhere else, "plant those post", "bush color" "bounce that in", "little bushes", "snow on the bushes", "bounce these little snow pluster here".
I die, why is this not viral???
ESPECIALLY with that "Southern Accent"!!!
WTF😂

Thank you for uploading daily, I appreciate that :)
This has changed the way I cut wood forever.
So amazing!!!
I just caught the last half of this on another streaming app and I'm so glad I checked here. She's so good. I was expecting lambs. She said limbs haha
Now that is indeed the thickest Missouri accent I've heard. It's quite endearing, for the lack of a better word.
Hipnotised !
Wow. This is cool.
So amazing 🤩
I appreciate that she worries about the shadows that objects throw on the ground and other surfaces. That's something Bob never focused on, to the detriment of his buildings. Her barn looks much better than his shacks tend to.
Bob. We miss you. You knew good skills when you say them and then you shared it with us.
I'm glad I saw this video.
Her sawscape is the definition of Art can be Dangerous.
Excellent drawings very good job and very informative nice job with the best
