Should we expect videos for Bard, Monk, Cleric, and Sorcerer?
They mentioned that they hope to find the books on the bookshelf years from now. I can tell them I still have my complete collection of both hardback and softback Advanced Dungeons and Dragons second edition books on my bookshelf.
It's the beauty of the hobby, books don't expire.

I NEED the artist behind the rocker elf in the middle and their art page NOW
the METAL BARD is AWESOME!
Man I just want to make D&D stuff for a living sounds nice. I get to make stuff all the time and get paid for it? Sounds like a dream come true.
Venger on the cover of the DMG is absolutely insane to me. I love the respect to series legacy, even the weirder corners of it.
i think thats warduke and karina too
I like playing D&D
Same
Dming for 3 years and still lovin it
hey, me too.
Wow, I never would have guessed
I love lamp
I'm still mad at Hasbro/WotC for the OGL fiasco and stuff, but if what these guys said is true, then I'm cautiously optimistic for the future.
I think you can be optimistic and even joyful about wotc products while never forgetting that their executives are a bunch of crap weasels.
It does seem they manged to legit improve the game against a backdrop of Hasbro execs desperate to squeeze every monetization drop out of the brand
The OGL mistake was though replaced by the radical decision to make the System Reference Document 5.1 (SRD 5.1) an irrevocable Creative Commons license (CC-BY-4.0) ! (so for any content / product using SRD 5.1)
well these guys while they technically work for Hasbro are the heads of the design team of wizards of the Coast specifically D&D who are absolutely amazing and deserve your trust
Also I would say, I am just get over it they've drastically gone the other direction correct their mistake. Evil corporations are going to evil, but at least good people like these two inside the corporation are fighting to make good.
The other videos they release cover more on mechanics and concepts they reworked. Regardless, over all this makes me feel cautiously optimistic.
In reaction to the option to start level 3+ : I love the level 1 experience ; it is like Christmas to me or like reading a fantasy novel where the character begins young and not yet ready...
I love levels 1-2 as well, but since the rest of my table prefers level 3, at least I can appreciate that there are now better guidance on getting starting equipment that better fits higher starting levels.
@@SortKaffe Well said.
Why abandon the Portuguese translation? We are an active community, I personally have been playing for over 20 years and I can't understand, if the printed version is not possible, why not only make it available in the digital version? I hope that the new direction will bring back D&D to Brazil and all other countries that use the Portuguese language
I hope the D&D Beyond character creator will feature some of these amazing art work whevener you pick some class/subclass and background/origin!
Right? I would love more art in the website.
Anyone know if there will be a bundle for the alt cover art + digital books?
Can i hope that there is a chance of a completely seperate spell book down the track? So the poor phb isnt tossed around the table every other round?
how can we preorder the alt covers?
As an astral elf and wizard enjoyer, Im super excited to see wizard, elf, and spell changes the most.
Tell us about the crafting system!
Right? I am veey curious.
Same, I want to know more. Crafting was (in my eyes) one of the bigger weaknesses of 5e, so interested to see it reworked
I feel that you should get the pre order stuff from the 3 books regardless of getting the physical and digital bundle. The digital dice from the PH. The art book with the DMG. And the gold dragon mini for the vtt from the Monster Manual that way no matter how you preorder you can reap the bonuses
I have a question for all Spanish-speaking players, is there a way to reserve the books in Spanish from the D&D Beyond website or app? And another thing, at some point will the app be available in Spanish with the books in the same language? Thanks and may you have many 20
Loving the alt-covers!
Core Rule Bundle seems only to be for US Residents only, partner site for outside US only has individual PHB, DMG, MM Phys/D&D Beyond bundles.
Couldn't proceed past the Proceed to Cart button. Is there certain hours to click on the Proceed to Cart or is it disabled for now?
it has been 3 hours and the physical book is already out of stock, i thought it would go fast but not that fast I wanted one.
Don’t preorder, there will be tons available. 😂
I wonder how easy it is to use 2014 races with 2024 classes? I would really like to make an Earth Genasi, Path of the World Tree Barbarian.
i hope it's intuative, also that race/class combo sounds amazing
I agree. Since they released that monsters of the multiverse, I’d be sad if I couldn’t use any of the updated races. Especially the Eladrin since they’re removed from being part of Elf subraces now
Really optimistic about all if this
"Re-imagined"
...great.
All this new granularity in the rules and new subclasses and abilities, not to mention the addition (and changes!) to the spell lists is certainly going to give **Players** lots of new options. (Maybe **too** many, causing analysis paralysis!). This is also going to make being a DM a **lot** harder; DMs will need to put a lot more trust in their player's ability to keep track of what they can do (and not take advantage of the DMs inability to keep track of all of these new options).
I'm sure I've just missed an interview, but with all these core mechanics and updates, what happens with all our digital source books? I thought I recall them saying it will all be compatible, so will there he updates to the digital product to revise wording and such?
I believe the books will stay as they are - the way to make them work with the new stuff will be contained in the new books with the general idea being if it isn't being replaced by something just use it.
Have they made the game too complex? How is a DM to keep track of all of the new mechanics, all the races, classes, subclasses, feats, and be able to teach new players how to play?
Trying to preorder the Player's Handbook and its out of stock... How can a preorder be out of stock...
Physical one?
@@20storiesunder Well yeah, would be funny if the digital versions stock ran out.
@@LordShrimpwe ran out of megabytes
Just started the video, but one ask: if I buy a physical copy can I also get a single-use code for a digital copy (that can then be backloaded into my application of choice)?
I know this is quite an ask, especially that last bit.
Nope, there is a discount if you buy digital and physical at the same time but thats only for D&D beyond. I doudt they will have digital versions outside of some specific areas (roll20's store for one)
@DndBeyond When will international pre-orders be available?
I am so looking forward to this new content. I got into D&D right before Tasha's was released, so I've had a good few years to really absorb the material. I'm not done with all of the videos from D&D beyond yet, and I'm sure there will be even more in the Player's Handbook that isn't mentioned. But, one thing I hope receives a change is the Piercer feat. I just dislike that it adds an extra layer of decision when rolling a single damage die on whether or not you want to reroll it. Even though the majority of the damage from an attack comes from static bonuses like ability score modifiers and feats like great weapon master. I wish the piercer feat just gave something like "keen" as a weapon property. Like, you roll 2 damage dice instead of 1 and choose the higher number. It does raise the average damage, yes, but barely. What it does do is remove a decision of rerolling a 2 on the damage die and still ending up with a 1 or a 2 anyways. It just wastes time at the table and I think is unnecessary.
/starts counting days until rogue preview.
33:00 them having to add in a section clarifying immediately after he says that is funny. But also worrying imo
Love the barbarian on the cover
Will there be new/different charactersheets ?
oleeeeeeeee, ojala resumen en español con todos los cambios de la 5.5
All the changes sound great and the art is astonishing!
No core rulebook physical bundle available in the EU?
All looks okay, but probably won't switch over until I get 3-5 expansion books so I have all my options again
I'm so exited. When will it come in german ?
Finally, this alt to be fun, I wonder what they did for sorcerer
I am beyond hyped
Big question: is this part of the One D&D rollout?
Pretty sure that's what this is
Not even sure it will still be called One D&D.
I'm probably still gonna refer to it as 5.5 😅
"One DnD" was just the code name during testing. 5e was "DnD Next" while it was in testing. They never intended to publish books that had "One DnD" on the covers.
Bundle only available in the states btw anyone outside pays extra and no freebies just an FYI
Do I have to pay for the new player's handbook if I have the old one on dnd beyond
Oh man I’m so excited!!!!
Chris Perkins has head nodding down to an art form.
What's going on with skills in 2024? I love 5e but the skill list is just not granular enough. 3.5 skill list was a lot of fun.
The optional rule of multi attribute skills really fixes this I've found.
You liked the use rope skill?
@@williamwalton9154 yes, skills made characters more unique. Just because you have athletics doesn't mean you understand climbing equipment or how different knots will effect how much weight it'll hold before breaking ect some of it may have seemed tedious but it made things less cookie cutter.(dependent on the players still to be fair)
Well, You haven't fix Monk yet as far as I know, but thicc Latina Orc woman is legally canon now, so I guess I can let you guys keep cooking.
Just having created a Water Genasi Druid "Circle of the Sea Druid" so you made a circle for me?
Is the character sheet getting a nice glow-up?
That would be fantastic.
Backgrounds necessarily need to be flexible, as 10 to 20 cookie cutter Backgrounds (with set Feat, Skill, Tool) will never cover the variations and creations in a fantasy universe / multiverse, and with homebrew worlds.
Backgrounds are just examples, there's rules in how to make your own. And that's good imo
@@20storiesunder Yes, true in the 2014 book, but I was reacting to how it is presented in this interview. I will certainly continue to see them as examples.
@@Baraz_Red Ah I see. Yeah so it seems the rules on making a custom background is in the dmg
Maybe someone can answer this, but is this still considered 5e? AKA if I currently have a 5e campaign will this be used in said campaign?
Whelp, I was so excited and hoping they did away with bonus actions and just called everything actions similar to Pathfinder. Looks like a nope on that.
Is there a release date for the PHB?
I've seen 17th Sep as the release date on D&D beyond
When will the new 2024 rules impact character creation on DND Beyond?
I have a feeling there will be a toggle to change between rule sets as the 2024 rule book is separate to buy.
@@humanoidrkangel I suspect so, as well. I'm just curious when it will 'go live'.
So is this one dnd? Did they drop that branding?
yes they dropped that branding, its still '5e' even tho this is a remaster. they dont want to 'split' the edition or change to 6e because they dont want to lose an audience
Yeah it's kinda 5.5 now
I love summoning, why cant yall make a summoner class or a sub-class of wizard
I literally just bought all three copies of the 2014 books. I don’t have money now to order these and I just checked into the mental health hospital so I can’t earn money to order the bundle. Poor timing smh 🤦♂️
27:20 I'm sorry, fighting styles are a feat now?
They've been available as a feat since Tashas.
It's so other classes can get it as a feat, but fighter for example gets them for free
Will there be new Dragonlance campaigns books coming in 2024? I am interested in seeing how much changes they did with the Monk Subclass. Is FIZBAN'S TREASURY OF 🐉 DRAGONS going to be revised for 2024? So it will be Playable with the new Handbook? I hope weapons like Samurai Swords and Ninjato swords and brass knuckles and other martial arts weapons and etc are in the new Handbook.
Is it going to be a new edition or an update to 5th
It's an update. They're not going to give it an addition number. We're basically past the point where new editions come out with distinctly different rules. From now on it will be updates and revisions.
@@Jason_Bryant You apparently don't understand how these gaming companies really work. When you grow up and been around D&D enough you'll figure out how crooked and deceitful these A-holes are.
@@SamanthaAnnFox When you grow up and stop telling people to grow up, you'll be liked more.
Why are there not preorder bundles outside of the US and why are there no digital bonuses either? 200 euros for just the three books plus digital versus a 170 dollar bundle plus goodies is just enraging.
Yes, totally upsetting, especially if it means missing out on extras everyone else is getting. What’s the point of preordering directly from Wizards then?
😍
Are aasimar going to be in the core rule books 😂
So no custom background.
@@-Lindol- yea... not what I seen being hinted at
Custom background is the default. They have been very clear about this in previous videos. The others are simply examples to speed up character creation. That's actually also how it is described today in the 2014 PHB, but they should really emphasize it to avoid it getting overlooked this time around.
@SortKaffe that changed.. apparently, it will be in the DMG.
Custom is the default
Lol Todd is so excited he snorted. It's okay I did too I'm very excited.
The beholder going to eat those two kinda annoys me what did they roll a 0 and have a negative perception to miss that big thing
Are these new books free??, or do we need to spend our hard earned cash on a load of new books?
The preorder is around $200 US so I doubt there will be anything for free unless they make a mini basic rules digital file again like they did with the 2014 rules
Remade all old wizards?
No discounts for the these books give me no reason to preorder these books, especially this far in advance. This after the Vecna no early release fiasco for many, does not make me feel good about DND Beyond for 2024
I preorder at my friendly local game store to make sure I get Ove of the limited edition alt covers. Isn't there a bundle discount if you order all three core books together?
Why would they be discounted on release?
Emi's a baaaabe!
I really hope that yall have made a better system for homebrew creation, the 2014 monster creation system was so annoying to use and balance to get things right imo.
The more I listen, the less compatible this sounds to 5e. I know they don't want to call it 6e, but it seems pretty disingenuous not to call it that when clearly it is.
Backgrounds shouldnt give ability scores, your race should primarily give you the ability scores. A tabaxi sailor is not the same as a goliath sailor. Dont argue that you would distribute them differently. Ability scores should be restricted to the base race and through your adventuring you become better
I dont know, i think it makes more sense. Being a criminal would probably make you more dexterious, and being a scholar would make you more intelligent. Many races give abililty score increases to things that dont make sense, (In the raw race context) where it makes more sense that your background made you gain those abilities. Of course a Goliath would have strenght or constitutuon upgrades, but yea.
This new update pretty much makes race - or species, a term which I actually like better - almost purely cosmetic. They should have at least kept the bonuses and minuses for physical attributes (Strength, Dexterity and Constitution) *in additional* to the ones provided by the new backgrounds.
@@Kobold_Bard im going to assume races will still have traits like darkvision, fey ancestry, and other. If not, then its a little wierd
No preorders from me, WotC lost that when they tried to monopolize the RPG market. IF its good, I'll buy it. But otherwise I'll pass
No backwards compatibility that sucks same with multiclassing being more of a struggle but hey the art is cool I guess
You might have misinterpreted what they were saying. There is backwards compatibility, just not the other way around, so you can use 2024 rules with almost all 2014 things, but using 2014 rules with 2024 things might have some difficulties. There shouldn't be any problems unless you only like 2014 rules for some reason.
@@mydude4807 ok cool clarification but multiclassing still sucks tho
@@mydude4807So we can for example play the echo knight subclass from ‘14 with the ‘24 fighter?
You did better for the monk class. But it is still considered as the weakest class, even in this new version, by a mile
Whaaaa? It can absolutely rock the pants of enemies if built correctly. It's never been intended to rival fighters when it comes to survivability.
Apparently hot take: DPS isn't the only aspect of a class that matters
@20storiesunder now being able to deflect melee attacks and spell attacks it might well beat fighters for survivability in many scenarios. I wouldn't be so quick at judging that it's still the weakest class judging from the UAs.
@@SortKaffe Oh yeah deflect attack is amazing.
@@SortKaffe Wait, deflect spell attacks, how?
Sounds interesting, but your new marketplace is a mess. I can´t filter products I already own.
A paraplegic gunslinger. Because people wanna play themselves in a game.
2nd ed was the best edition.
I may be nit picking but that doesn’t sound backwards compatible.
Nothing on the digital table top
Spanish Book ¿?
Bigger does not mean better
Pathfinder 2e, Level Up: Advanced 5e, Critical Role. Anything else they're going to cherry-pick their "new" content from?
What was taken from each of those?
@tarodnet ability score boosts from backgrounds and heroic inspiration from Pathfinder. Weapon mastery from Level Up. Circle of the seas druid sounds like a rewrite of the pact from Critical Role.
@@noahjackson1363 Not everything is exactly the same or works in the same way, but I see your point. It's not a bad thing to get inspiration from other sources; the opposite - other sources taking from DnD - is also true. Thanks for answering me! In my opinion, Wizards of the Coast (WotC) is trying to address concerns and complaints from people about the 2014 rules, character choices, linear combats, and unbalanced classes, etc. All the new content is very interesting for me.
"I am really enjoying this song 🎧 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Fix the marketplace
Still nothing in French on D&D beyond...
Spanish support???
how about misty step as a reaction..
I hope there’s no AI art in this one
There has been no Ai art in d&d wotc books with the only expecting of that single piece in bigby's where an artist used an Ai tool on their art
Can I ask why it matters? I get the ramifications in the long run especially on artist, but at the same time a piece here or there that helps get the product out sooner would be a good thing?
@@mizorefan100 D&D books have prided themselves in containing fantastic art to show case monsters.
On the one side it's been great for the consumer cause works like that fire up the imagination like no other. On the other they provide employment for a chronicly underemployed sector.
If they opted to use Ai (as in wholly Ai generated images, not images that had Ai tools used such as generative fill) they would absolutely break that, losing them a ton of respect from players and artists alike. The compromising of such values for "getting the product done faster" is such a gross idea, which could only appear normal due to decades of the worst kind of capitalism.
Plus AI generated art genuinely looks like ass, looking kinda okay to folks who just don't know how to look at art beyond a base level.
Pretty sure there isn't.
They say pretty early on that they brought back a lot of previous artists.
I bet it will. If not whole pieces at least some ai infused pieces. Pretty sure the wizard piece at 0:33 has AI parts mostly in the eyes and that gold chest armor/clothing which is a shame if I’m right.
Going to stick with 2014. I will not spend any money on 2024 dnd don't like any of the changes I've heard about.
Great, they stole a ton of rules from BG3. Lol. Sounds like a ton of work.
This is the dumbest comment on the entire video.
Yep. You got 'em, random CZcams commenter. You figured out the secret. The D&D people "stole" rules and content from Baldur's Gate 3......the game....that is Dungeons and Dragons.....
You said that 5e is mainstreamed and balanced. But the way it is setup; it will never be balanced. And it starts on baseline of the character and development. For example, all marshal characters should have some basic rules that are the same. For instance, the monk is a marshal class; and this marshal class d8 (instead of a d10) HD. And this balance needs to be continued into the class. They should be equalization of being equally strong. Paladins are viewed as the strongest class. So, every class needs to be equal in strength as the paladin. Rangers and monks are viewed as the weakest classes. Even though the monk class was a knee jerk reaction to previous editions of how strong they were viewed. Every class needs to balanced with each other and they are not. And the same goes with backgrounds and a character’s race. You eliminated nature versus nurture. You only have nurture now. In real life and in D&D should match. Not all or nothing type thing. And getting something from both. Feats from nurture. There needs to be some kind of anchor into nature instead of just eye color or skin color. Which most people ignore especially after people describe their character, last a total of 30-60 seconds in the entire time they are playing if ever. You can ability modifiers primarily in nature and then perhaps secondary in nurture as a compromise. You have totally eliminated the need for the character’s race. I know that you put a lot of effort re-creating the current system (or edition).
I made some improvements on the improvements that you did for the monk. You have 3 or so subclasses that are good. The rest needs to improved, to have some teeth in those subclasses
Probably the smallest new detail but as a disabled player it is awesome to see artwork including wheelchairs. Love love love it.❤
It's fantastic to see the hobby evolving.
❤❤❤
Thankith ye for saving our sacred game and giving more life to ye game
What about Psionics?
Still looks like dnd with training wheels.
That’s literally what the players handbook is for…
As a veteran of many d&d editions I think that's a very simplistic take. Dive deep into the mechanics, everything added with all the new books and tell me it's shallow.
Okay Grandpa Grognard, it's time to take your meds and go lay down.
@@YamiYaiba hhaha! I should.
