I currently work as a security officer in California. I have experience of working in medical security and I am currently contracted with the government so throughout my security guard career my pay was significantly above the national average for security guards. Nonetheless it seems that my salary doesn't go too far on a high cost of living in California. I like Alaska because of tax friendliness, but I heard the cost of living there is also quite high. My question is can i work as a security guard in Alaska and still keep up with the cost of living there and perhaps even do better than i currently can in California? Another question is does Alaska offer higher paying security guard job opportunities that security guards in other fields of work don't have? Do Alaskan security guards get paid more than the national average and if so how much more? How much does an average security guard make in Alaska and is it enough to live on? Is there a need for security officers in Alaska? Are there security guard jobs on oilfields in Alaska and do they pay well and are there benefits?
