+Alinator420 Haha, tell me about it. No more fighting noobs. I've seen him in game a few times though. Don't know if it was really him but he was high level so who knows.
I C I think that historical accuracy in medieval fighting games means a lot and still you are a guy twice the size of your peons which you one shot. Not much for immersion on that side. also to me being able to fully control the upper body doesn't break immersion at all. Actually I think that immersion wise seeing the character in third person that does the same oriented strikes with no way to control them is immersion breaking on multiple points.
I C And that's fair, but as I said, combat against peons is the same as you would have in Batman: Arkham series, press a button to have a scripted animation. And for the Player versus Player I feel like the melee combat is really limited to a stance gameplay, with no real time swing manipulation. If you don't care about the the historical accuracy, which is obviosuly personal preference, you should at least care about the scripted animations and lock-on target kind of gameplay (and let's not forget third person, huge immersion break). I don't see in For Honor a good combat game, if anything you had to say Mordhau to impress me :D
Classy Man My dad came to visit me a few weeks ago and I showed him a video. Then suddenly he smacked the monitor mid-video with an envelope. Took me a few seconds to understand wtf he's doing. I expected comments on youtube, but I never expected to see a live reaction. It was beautiful.
Wow dude, this is the best tutorial I've seen for Chivalry and also the most flowing, fast paced, beautifully choreographed duels I've seen! You explained everything well. Really fantastic job! It's extremely helpful and you are very skilled :)
Great video, I was on the fence about buying this game, but now I see the combat is much more involved than I initially thought based on other videos I had watched. I had no idea there was so much subtlety to the combat, I'm really intrigued now!
Wow, I just started playing and was trying to understand exactly how realistic this game could be. Thank you for showcasing such important information on timing and dueling! Please make another video for maces and other blunt weapons since they're slower and utilize different tactics. Thanks again!
Thank you for creating this video. It turned around my ability in game completely, and my understanding. Being able to turn the tables on LMB mashing idiots has made my day several times.
Very helpful video. Learning this guide allowed me to get more kills and less deaths. You really have to practice to get good. Decided to make Man-at-Arms as my main character.
This video has helped me tremendously. I appreciate you taking your time to make this useful bit of information. I've taken 3 on 1 before and came out on top because of this video :D
*slow claps* very good fighting! I just started playing Chivalry and got a few tips from some experts in a guild I am try to join but this helped me out so much ^-^ now lets see if I can apply this in an actual fight. Please continue this series ^-^ these are very good tutorials
wow! it's just so usefull and entertaining at the same time! I loved to watch you fighting. I watched many chivalry videos and usually it's just wild slashing. and most of the players can only block if you are slow and if they're lucky. this... was FAST! even with twohanders. I will use your tips :) thanks for this awesome tutorial!
I'm glad I finally found a video that goes into the finer details. Many of the vids out there are button-mashing and face-rolling, and that gets old after a while :)
This is way more complex than your teasers have let on. And I'm really happy about that. Personally I'm not skilled enough at these games to pull these crazy things off, but I sure will have fun trying to do so. Keep up the good work, and I hope to see the game on sale soon.
Great videos man. I've been looking forward to playing this game but didin't want to start off clueless. I'm buying it now and I should be cutting some heads off really soon :) thanks
I got to watch this tutorial every now and then to re-guide me back to how to play PROPERLY. For anyone watching this, listen to this guy, he is a pro and his guide is very effective.
There is another technique that I have been doing as a knight with the Longsword, Combo-feints. Pretty sure you already know about this, but I normally feint-then Alt Overhead combo'd with the horizontal swing, then, I feint a stab, and answer with another overhead. This has worked extremely well, and I'm currently rank 36 and I have taken down people much higher rank than myself.
I love this game. I think its quite underrated game, but i have never seen so sotisficated medieval fight system like this. Fake attacks, maneuvers, right timing of strikes, lots of types of attacks, lots of kinds of weapons - this is great mix of this nice game. Sometimes i like blood rage fights, some time i like more tactics duels and every day i can learn something new from better opponents.
I like forcing them to block and then making them swing at me after, then I mouse drag into a blow, it's really effective with quick weapons like claymore, billhook or bearded axe, you usually get contact on their swing but your blow costs them much more health. After seeing this I'm going to try and work the feint stab into that routine because if I catch them off-guard with the stab, the mouse dragged swing is enough to finish them, with this I can get a better chance of a first stab then go for the mouse drag swing instead of relying on them to be unprepared.
Trouble is when I come up against a player who ducks, he tends to do it every time like I wont learn, so I just look down when I attack and they wonder why they are getting hit lol
Definitely change for FOV or Field of View or Field of Vision. By putting it at higher levels you will be granted more visibility therefore allowing you to see more of whats going on around you. Although it may seem weird or uncomfortable at first, it is definitely something that you need to get used to in order to be effective in combat.
Actually I have played AoC, but only for around 100hours. But my main Melee-FPS experience came from Mortal Online and such. Which isn't nearly as in depth as this game is, but still has similiar moves. And I'm sure that there are more tricks, we'll do a 2.1 version in the future until we start with #3, to cover up some of the new tricks we've discovered over the time, since we're waiting for the duel mode to do the third one.
This is very good LOOL. The only thing is that you didn't mention the alternative swing mode whereas you can also bypass shielded players from the left :) But this video is amazing!
As a men-at-arms with a quarter staff I know a 7 hit combo that is absolutely killer. Swings so fast that it almost can beat a block every time and if I do get blocked I can always just dodge out of the way. Besides a few times I tried to dodge with no stamina I have not been beat. But I'll be damned I knowing that ONE GOOD HIT will kill me doesn't keep me on edge
+gabycashy5 you can't do a 360 from a straight view, but if you begin like in 45 degree, you also hit at the end again. It's like a drag, pretty effective
3 years later, it's hilarious that this used to be "advanced"
+Alinator420 unlike you they didn't have tutorial videos, the playstyle evolved as they got better.
+Alinator420 Haha, tell me about it. No more fighting noobs. I've seen him in game a few times though. Don't know if it was really him but he was high level so who knows.
What exactly changed that these moves are now bad way to go?

Gotta love how people complain about feints, yet condone the use of bugs to gain an advantage.
how to tell if the enemy is feinting: if he grunts, its a swing. no grunt is a feint.
Reven619 or just git gud
What about people with 170 FOV that face the ground and spin around. How do u deal with that.
and when they have dpi and ingame sensitivity over 9000
Dominub get in range, lmb. Ez pz
Foc4ccin4 yep do drags, rainbows, whirlwinds, waterfalls. fuck them bitches right up
Dominub Your profile picture mad em think I had a fly on my computer screen. then I scrolled and knew it was fake.

EXCELLENT video everything you need to know in a short and simple way. Best tutorial in chivalry for sure
Wow dude, this is the best tutorial I've seen for Chivalry and also the most flowing, fast paced, beautifully choreographed duels I've seen! You explained everything well. Really fantastic job! It's extremely helpful and you are very skilled :)
The best combat tutorial I've found so far. Really covers a lot of the more advanced skills. Thanks for this.
By far the most help from a video, thank you
Great video, I was on the fence about buying this game, but now I see the combat is much more involved than I initially thought based on other videos I had watched. I had no idea there was so much subtlety to the combat, I'm really intrigued now!
Duel at the end of the video was awesome. Good series thus far.
Seriously excellent tutorial, as well as showcasing the game's combat system. Awesome.
its so cool and fascinating to see such pros fighting against each other...
their reaction time is incredible!
Keep coming back to this video, and even the basics one too. Hopefully It'll sink into my brain soon!
This video series really kicks ass!! Keep it coming!
Only one minute of vid and you showed me that this game is way more amazing than I thought. You rule. Congratz
ALL ASSUMING THERE IS NO LAG. I think this is one of the only games that I understand lag-rage.
It has the same graphic of Half Life 2 and Garry's Mod, if you can run these games you can only fear server lag :)
CreeperAssassin2 [ITA] That's what I'm referring to: every player on 100+ ping is unplayable.
Yep, you are right
Dead is the deal thwn
Very in depth tutorial! Good job you look like a great fighter!
Wow, I just started playing and was trying to understand exactly how realistic this game could be. Thank you for showcasing such important information on timing and dueling! Please make another video for maces and other blunt weapons since they're slower and utilize different tactics. Thanks again!

Epic demonstration at the end! A+
Excellent series! Thank you very much!
wow dude nice tutorial! really helps a lot
especially the last fight shows how epic this game can be
Awesome video and great tips from a clearly skilled player. Thanks for this!
Very helpful video. Learning this guide allowed me to get more kills and less deaths.
You really have to practice to get good.
Decided to make Man-at-Arms as my main character.
Amazing tutorial, exactly what i was looking for.
This video has helped me tremendously. I appreciate you taking your time to make this useful bit of information. I've taken 3 on 1 before and came out on top because of this video :D
Can't stop watching!
extremely good video. Thanks for this man. Much respect.
Amazing. I never imagined someone being able to simulate medieval combat in such a realistic way. Thumps up!

Wow, I had no idea the sword play could be so dynamic. I'm really impressed. I need to find a partner and practice!
that ducking is so funny the players get so mind fucked when they dont expect it XD
Trouble is when I come up against a player who ducks, he tends to do it every time like I wont learn, so I just look down when I attack and they wonder why they are getting hit lol

You can also press the right mouse button to feint instead of the Q key.
Claymore feinting is the bane of my existence

Cant do it better! PERFECT JOB !
This is beautiful.
this helps so much tyvm
Very good video! Nothing to critisize but maybe a summary in the description-box ;-)
This is very good LOOL. The only thing is that you didn't mention the alternative swing mode whereas you can also bypass shielded players from the left :) But this video is amazing!
You gonna play chiv 2 closed beta I'm down to play it with you when the closed beta starts on the 23rd

I knew this game was good but watching this was a real treat. Just bought it off GMG, can't wait to give it a spin.
Default keybind for blocking is the right mousebutton. Imo the most comfortable way to block.
Great vid, ty
nvm this entire video is raw. subscribed
Wow, they need something like this in the in-game tutorial
Great video
Cool vid man! thx
the first fight was wild all the blocking and stuff
saw a guy doing 360 while crouching swinging and even jumping sometime told me his sensitivity is at 30
+gabycashy5 you can't do a 360 from a straight view, but if you begin like in 45 degree, you also hit at the end again. It's like a drag, pretty effective
+Dersum because it's not
+Dersum because it's not
it is, it is. If you beginn a weapon-attack, the mouse speed get's locked
well not that guy because he can do 2 or 3 360 in a row while blocking/attacking
Nice vid. How about some tips on fighting multiple foes, group fights etc?
