I Made a Spooky Diorama in a Birdhouse

This week, I hid an easter egg in the wild! I built a diorama in a birdhouse and hid it somewhere for anyone to find. The clues for how to find it are hidden throughout the video.
The Gollum figure I used is from CA 3D / ca3d

UPDATE: Unfortunately, someone stole the birdhouse. I knew that was a possibility before I placed it out there, but it’s still a bummer.

Maybe a close trail in the foothills would be less prone to vandalizing.

I keep imagining a bird trying to get in and wondering “why the hell is this door blocked? Isn’t this a house for birds??”
He stands on the post, day after day, chirping & singing in different cadences thinking it's an "open says a me" situation!
He blocked it? I didn't notice, even on repeated viewing. If so, good, so Gollum won't be ripped apart by the first angry homesteader.
ITs like a Diorama geocache! Omg.....that should be made a thing! Geocaches but their little hidden dioramas!
Someone made a diorama of a church of Mike Wazowski, and hid it in a library for people to find. That one was pretty funny.

There was a segment on CBS Sunday Morning about a woman who built small gnome houses and hid them in their local park. They were wonderful to look at and the community enjoyed searching them out for the inspirational messages each one held. The city, being an uptight, stick up their butt type city deemed them a nuisance and removed them. Sigh.... I do love this.

My son and I stumbled across your video. We live less than 5 minutes from your hiding place. Off we went for an awesome walk and adventure!! Mafe for a very enjoyable Sunday morning.

My boys and I just found it!! They had a blast looking for it and I had fun figuring out where it was last night! Great idea!!!

Went and looked at this birdhouse with my dad today we instantly recognized the trails you were walking on my brother and i spent most of our summers riding along this creek 15-20 years ago

After some detective work I was able to find it. I live about an hour from there so I will try to go there sometime. I enjoyed the LOTR content and the public engagement content. I would love to see some more in the future. Cheers!

So Cool! I love how the light shifts when you turn or tilt the box. I hope it'll be out there for a long, long time. And I secretly hope a bird will come and make a nest in it, giving Gollem some company.

Watching you make this, awesome. Hiding it out there for others to find and enjoy, awesome. Feel you should make it a Geocache to share with a wider audience. Many hiders would love to see this creative diorama, and be jealous of it.

I hope you decide to make additional, outdoor surprise displays. "Fairy Houses" are popular projects along these lines. And who knows? Maybe a Wild Imaginary West themed scene, or two, as well . . . ?

Without acrylic over the little window, wouldn't it be possible - even likely - that birds would move in and share a nest with Gollum?
In some of the hike-shots you can see it. He did put a cover over the window.

Superb. This is the kind of 'shadow box' diorama I love. Hope you also obtured the front hole with acrylic to avoid any bord nesting in there...

This was fantastic! The effect that the birdhouse's natural lighting lends to the diorama within is perfect! I hope this stays intact where you placed it. Also, yes, that is a mink! We live on a river and see them all the time. Had one laying dead on our property along the river bank just a couple weeks ago, in fact. I'm not sure what happened to the little guy. He wasn't chewed up or bloody or anything like that, so who knows? Awesome piece, my friend! God bless!

Just went and saw it today. We left a little art of our own, and our art was gone before we completed our walk. I can confirm Golum survived the tornado style wind. Thank you for sharing your art with all of us. I was so elated to find it after our search.

Randomly popped into my head, I'd love to see the main street built for the WIW town. I'm imagining local ordinances in place to keep mechs and wagons on one side and foot traffic on the other, then everything getting held up because two twits are having a duel in the middle of town and causing a traffic jam. Would be a great opportunity to make tons of minis with lots of little mini stories going, like a kid chasing a jackalope, a horse being freaked out by a mech, a street vendor selling dodgy forestalls...
