  • After a while, the NC Miata's seat belts seem to retract slower and slower. Luckily there is a solution! Pulling out your slow seat belts and giving them an easy wash as well as adding the updated seat belt guides makes a huge difference in fixing your slow seat belts in the NC Miata.
    Here's the service bulletin: www.miata.net/garage/tsb/R086...

    Thank you for continually posting NC videos, they're so rare and finding a good one like this is super helpful

    For anyone based in UK I did the guide replacement as shown here and soaked the belts in Woollite. That was over a year ago and my belts still retract faster now than shown post treatment in the video here. I tried various methods for years and this is the one for me. Woollite is a detergent for handwashing wool.

    Great video! And yes it’s frustrating when you try to leave the car and the seatbelt dangling outside of the car and hit the door cell 😫

    Jackson this is an EXCELLENT video! I don't think I have seen anyone else make this mod: you're a star! My 2009 2.0l NC Sport will certainly benefit. All the best, Rob from Switzerland.

    Great video, great idea of going through the manual! I have the 2012 NC, and often think I should take time and read manual.

    Interesting video. Mazda has not solved this problem though as it is happening on ND Miatas as well. Cleaning helps a little.

    I think I will do this one tomorrow. My only other problem is that I wish the guide was 1”-2” further out. I am a bit wide and it often rubs my neck.

    @coloredinlight do you think is it possible to cut or remove that central part on the old part in stead of replace that one? Would you make a video trying that change? Thats one of the common problem un our mx5 nc. Thanks and congratulations for a great channel!

    • @ColoredinLight
      @ColoredinLight  Před 4 lety +1

      A new seat belt guide is like $20. I wouldnt even try to cut it and make it perfect for something that costs so little and comes factory.

    • @lalmeidaa
      @lalmeidaa Před 4 lety

      Im from Ecuador, here is really hard to get some parts. Take so long and it gets 3x to 20x more expensive. Thats why I suggest to do that.

    Okay,so it's over a year later and I just did this swap. I want to point something out. On my 2008 NC, there are metal inserts inside the plastic seat belt guides. I had to use a dremel tool on the inside of the newer plastic guides in order to make these metal inserts sit flush inside the guides. Didn't your car have these metal inserts?

  • @nmarkert01
    @nmarkert01 Před 2 lety

    Did you replace the protector as well or just the guides? Doesn’t seem like you did and if it works without then I won’t bother either.

    • @310tby
      @310tby Před 2 lety +1

      I was wondering this too since the local dealer doesn't have the protectors. I think you really need to have them or modify the originals atleast. If you google the part numbers there is a russian site with them side by side and there is a clear difference.

      all of us now see it as a feature and not a defect 😁

    You didn't pull the trim and lubricate the actual mechanism? That's how I just fixed my gfs mx5 seatbelts... also maybe sell the girl car and buy a motorcycle 🏍?

      @@ColoredinLight how big could she be and still fit in a miata? I farted in that car once and had to replace the top.
