This upgrade is a must for your bike if you have the plastic clutch adjuster.
Any questions please feel free to comment.
Huge thanks to Hog Shoppe in Levittown, NY for helping me on this one. I came into his shop after the plastic adjuster broke on my clutch cable. My bike and any other 2021 bikes from Harley Davidson have these plastic adjusters and they can be a huge pain. A little red plastic clip is supposed to hold your clutch cable in place and that just seems unsafe. Upgrade it to metal and your clutch will last much longer.
It would have great to see how it is actually done...🙂
This video is from fatbagger it shows how it's done. czcams.com/video/y0KoemSNl_I/video.html
Nice job and good video. Follwed your thread on the forum. Will be updating my 2021 RGS with this. You did go with thw 4" extension also correct?
Thank you! Yes, I have 14s on the bike now and I had to get the 4” extension from Fatbaggers
Your not supposed to leave the rain sock on the air breather all the time ,I heard It slightly restricts air flow.. Did your bike come with a plastic clip that snaps on both sides of the frame & holds the clutch cable in place at the bottom.
I don’t leave it on all the time. I used it accordingly to its purpose as it rained the last time I rode it 😊 & the clip that you’re referring to is the one on the older RKS models. Mine is a 2021 and the clip attaches to the top. Thanks!
@@demetrii97 yes it connects to the top I have that on my bike. 22RGS... Don't know why I said the bottom...lol..
Did you have to extend the brake line or not? I've got a '21 RKS as well and am about to install 14" KST apes.
I did not. I did get some extra slack by cutting some zip ties and moving the brake line. How’d you do?
Yes!
@@demetrii97 I did not have to extend brake line. Did the same.
@@RB-tx4mn good to hear! Saves you some money for other bike expenses! Just occasionally check to make sure the brake line isn’t being worn down if it’s rubbing against any surfaces on the inside of the front nacelle
On the Clutch Cable Adjuster how do you make sure that it doesn't keep turning and unscrewing itself when engaging the clutch over time? Is that Allen Bolt on the top piece where you Tighten it up to keep it from unscrewing itself? Is that Clutch Cable Adjuster how you adjust the slack in the Clutch line?
Hey Mark! That cable adjuster is easy to adjust the cable slack/bite point and securing it is done by a set screw you pointed out. Hope that helped out!
I don’t get it? My ‘21 low rider S has a big yellow plastic piece on the bottom section of the cable and the smaller yellow plastic piece on top that houses the red clip. I understand the top part has to be cut off and the red clip removed, but the cable is still connected within the larger yellow piece on the bottom section? The instructions don’t show the larger yellow piece either. It’s weird. Every video I watch of someone adjusting their cable is exactly like mine with a large and small yellow piece and red clip, but everything with this replacement piece is different from mine.
Hey Robby, I have a 4 inch cable extension because I installed 14” bars. The cable extension replaces the bottom yellow piece so that’s why it looks different to you. Hope I explained it good enough for you!
@@demetrii97 Got it. Thanks man.
I bought one of these upgrades from my local Harley dealership, but the instructions are…..incomplete IMO. They don’t show or describe the bottom portion at all, nor do they show how they separated the top portion of the cable from the bottom. I suppose you just have to follow the same instructions as if you were extending the cable.
Wasted my time
It was more of an opinion video, not an installation video. It's insane HD puts these on $20k bikes. Thank you
