- This week we're not in the Northern Territory although when you see this scenery, you could be forgiven for thinking it. We're actually visiting Mermaids Pool just South of Sydney - a great little location with LOTS of compositions to be had.

I would normally go for portrait shots for waterfalls, to get the height illusion, but since these are more cascades and the rocks are sooooo beautiful, I am loving the landscape shots!
Many thanks Juanita 🙏🙏 Yes I agree - my 'internal programming' automatically switches to portrait mode whenever I'm around a waterfall but there was quite a lot of interest on either side here that made the landscapes work. Take care and thanks for watching 👍😀
Another great video Brian! I think I prefer the landscape shots of the waterfall. The sandstone path at the end was amazing too. Keep it up mate - how come you don't have more subs?

Hi Brian, I preferred the landscape image. I used to go camping here back in the 70s and have been planning a photography trip back there. Thanks for the inspiration and great photos.

Hi Brian, a very interesting location. I like all the shots but think the portrait shot tend to work better. My favourite is the shots at the top, the landscape works well. The sandstone path and Mermaids pool in the background came out better than I expected.
Many thanks Martin - really appreciate it 🙏 Yes, my inner monologue tends to shout out portrait when I shoot waterfalls but this one has a bit of everything. The little sandstone path was an explosion of colour from the rocks there - believe it or not, I actually had to spend some time desaturating the shot as it was so intense. Beautiful colours of the rocks and water! I liked the texture of the water. I tend to always prefer the landscape mode best, after all, for me you are a landscape photographer! 😂

Hi Brian. Wonderful spot for this week's photoshoot. Loved the landscape shot at 9.50 timeline. Shows off more of those beautiful wet rocks on the left. You don't Indicate at what mm you are shooting at on all these photos. Where they wide angle,say 14 to 20mm? What lens were you using. Will put this local on my list when I am next on my way to Sydney ey.
Many thanks Barry - really appreciate it 🙏 For all of the shots in this video, I used my 16-35mm f/2.8 GM Sony lens. The actual focal length would have varied for each shot of course. Yes, keep this one on the list - it's a fun place for a visit but don't get there too late as I'm sure it will get quite busy with the swimmers etc 😉 All the best and thanks for watching 👍
Thanks for another wonderful clip, Brian. I liked 12:44 (shows the water path); but I loved the 12:59 (portrait, with the large rock just above the centre that reminds me of a T-rex head); though the one that won me was at 13:20, because you brought out the patterns the water made. That said, the image at 13:34 was just gorgeous, and so quintessentially Australian. Can I ask what your set-off point was? I have found the location on Maps, but as yet, not a set-off point. I'm a recent immigrant from Victoria (😉) and I live just south of Canberra.
