I remember having watched this when it was aired. Somehow, this play has stayed with me for all of those 22-25 years. What a powerhouse of an actress Khalida Riyasat marhooma was, and yet, how amazing it is to watch Sania Saeed hold her own in her scenes with Khalida Riyasat. Thank you for sharing.
I was a child when I watched this drama but still remembered the basic storyline and I am glad that this play is available on CZcams…loved watching it…what beautiful script and I am totally speechless to see the amazing acting done by Khalida Riyasat and Humayun Saeed…such a masterpiece!!!

Love this drama...the naturalness of everything, the great acting, the young Sania Saeed and Humayun Saeed. And of course, the beautiful Khalida Riasat. This has created new respect in me for H. Saeed. These people are admired for whatever drove them to work in this profession.
I think Raheela is absolutely right. Aaliya has a manipulative behaviour and she shouldn't be interfering or controlling a married couple's life. Raheela asked for her rights only.

In conclusion, failure to lead a matrimonial life, Aalia (Khalida Riasat) has been forced to opt a puritanical attitude, and became cynic to everyone.Any deviation/contingency, as happened with Aalia in the drama, rendered her unmarried for the rest of her life, has no room to be appropriately accommodated in our society. Although, she could have led her life by choosing other life partner, but what would have been the case, if she had been betrayed/divorced after her marriage. In either case, she had to opt this stubborn attitude in order to get her rescued from the inevitable commentary from her surroundings.She has actually been ostracized/banished from the society, which she also had done to herself due to the fear of people's despise and contempt. Point is not stigmatized unmarried/divorced one, if somehow one has been striken with such unfortunate circumstances. It should be understood that the eventuality of being unmarried/divorced does exist in this God's natural world. This is not something alien to the society social framework of what have been perceived normally. Might be it has got been understood as stigma due to unchecked influence of Hindu culture, in which a divorced woman seen as cursed, and not even tolerate to have choice to live. The sole rejection of even existence of this eventuality by our society has made every that victim man/woman to resort into the self torturing attitude (as depicted in drama).The development of this behaviour/attitude among victims also led them to produce effect on other lives e.g. Raheela (Sania Saeed) was at the disposal of Aalia (victim). Why she had been forced to opt this behaviour in the first place? This was actually her sole sanctuary to live with away from the remarks of society. Anyhow, make every possible move to never let matrimonial relation into unfortunate one in the first place.

Well, being an educated person, i believe, the rights sania saeed is asking, are against our cultural and religious values. In order to deviate the women of our society, Aliya Aapa has been used as a weapon. I grew up watching these dramas since i belong to generation Y yet i cannot digest the dialogue between these two ladies here. Apart from the script, Khalida Riasat did a splendid acting here. May she rest in peace.
You’re strongly mistaken here, the rights for which Sania Saeed’s character were begging to have are her birth right. I wonder what you’ve learned in school or from life even. Religion isn’t against people to have freedom or have fun w their friends or have a cute moment w a spouse , in fact there’s no compulsion in religion however, it’s the backward brain dead conservatives who like to confide women to their homes and make them an object or a decoration piece of their house. Truly disappointing that still people misinterpret religion so confidently! If you resonate more with that hypocrite Khala who punished her niece for the choices she made, she practically suffocated her.. if you can’t unsee what’s wrong in her character than sorry to break it to you, chances are your character in real life is also similar to her thinking/behavioral patterns.
