You're definitely on the right track. Somehow she was influenced by old school Jazz/Blues singers like Sarah Vaughan, and her improvisations are definitely Jazz/Blues influenced. Her SCATTING at the end of "Fly me to the moon" was an Ella Fitzgerald trademark, although other Jazz singers did it too, but nobody did it like Ella. Gigi is also PITCH-PERFECT like Karen Carpenter. She's incredibly unique in how many genres she SLAYS: Jazz, Blues, Soul, R&B, Pop, and she even has that Rock-Rasp.
If you want more real jazziness, listen to her cover of "Fly Me to the Moon".

I did not like the original of this song, but when I heard Gigi sing it, I liked it a lot due to the way she sang it and the clarity of words. Gigi is very good at story telling and her voice quality is top notch.
I think the original by Diane Reeves is very similar to Gigi’s version. I really like what Gigi did here. And the original by Diane is really great. I really like both versions.
