How Nikola Jokic Took Over The NBA (without trying)
Vložit

- Nikola Jokic has just had one of the best championship runs of all-time, leading the playoffs in points, rebounds, assists & true shooting percentage. And he proved all his doubters wrong about him. And boy, there were so many of them.
This isn't just the story of how Jokic lead the Denver Nuggets to their first championship in franchise history, but also a story of how overlooked the Nuggets have been. How overlooked Jamal Murray was. How overlooked Michael Malone was. And especially how overlooked the two-time MVP Nikola Jokic was (and still is, even after winning a title as the first option & anchor of the defense).
And finally, a story of how Jokic took his sweet revenge of all his doubters (notably Nick Wright, Kendrick Perkins, Chris Mannix & Stephen A. Smith). And did it in a way only the Joker can.

Jokic > Embiid
Agreed 💯.. by far.
Disrespect to even put JoeL’s name next to Jok’s tbh
Water is wet
Talk about it 🫡👏👏
It's not even a conversation until Embiid gets a ring
The most exhaustive and complete documentation of the Jokic (and Denver for that matter) disrespect and slander on the web. Tremendous work here.
Thank you! That's big praise to give so I really appreciate it
@@tooforwon241 you a nugget 🍆 rider
Leave out the rest, people will always be against Jokić, tooforwon is where it's at!
The best part about this whole thing is that the nba media only congratulated and showed him love when they absolutely had to. They never thought/wanted him to actually win a ship. There is underlying racism in all of this let’s be honest. Perkins was fine with singing his praises as long as he ain’t go too far or do too much. Then he’s undeniably the best player in the world and is running through the west to win a ship and KP turns into the biggest hater ever. Food for thought

Yep. tooforwon did a dope job. The most satisfying part is watching this vid pointing out all that pie left on the face of these "experts".
im a warriors fan, and 2022 round 1 of the playoffs was my first time getting to see jokic really up close and personal even tho he won two mvps, denver games werent televised. i was blown away, and came away from that series feeling like we were lucky he didnt have even a LITTLE bit of help even tho we won 4-1. this past season, i told lakers fans after they beat us, get ready for the jokic experience. they laughed in my face. and then he swept them and won a title.
From a Lakers fan, here's to our aging Stars having some more epic duels for several more seasons!
And media clowns were out here ROASTING Jokic for losing with more than 1 guards/wings who are just 1 year later out of the league, and its not because of their age. 😂 For some reason a lot of the media just straight hate the dude, and hate that he won MVPs. It's crazy, and it has to be because they only watched at most the 2 or 3 national Denver games a year
I still can't get over some of the tweets and posts I saw that from the 2022 playoffs where they've posted within the lines of "Jokic is a choker because he couldn't defeat the Warriors". Even Lebron, Kobe and MJ wouldn't get past against those Warriors team with that Nuggets garbage roster.
Man, the pain of Lakers fans is like good food to me.
Great story bro bro 🎉😂
A four hour video on Jokic and how the media keep dissing him? I’m glad I don’t have to be somewhere tonight!

that bubble shootout between Murray and Mitchell was legendary
Nahhh bubble TJ warren averaging almost 40 was legendary
Yeah, man. And the Nuggets in general were pretty nutty for coming back from two 3-1 deficit.
This is a masterpiece
As a Nuggets fan we had to put up with so much dishonest shit from the NBA media. They clearly don’t watch our games and only go off narratives.
And yet, despite it all, I’d forgotten the extent of HOW bad their coverage was. Kendrick Perkins, Nick Wrong and Keyshawn should be publicly shamed every day of the off season for their dog shit takes Jokic wins FMVP while their idol Joel Emflop ghosts another playoffs while getting cooked in PnR.
NBA refs tried to steal games from the Nuggets via corrupt officiating.
G4 against Lakers had a series of blatantly corrupt calls, especially in the last 5 minutes of the game.
James fouled Jokic on back to back possessions & the crooked ref called both of those offensive fouls, which left Jokic with 5 fouls, basically preventing him from playing any meaningful defense for last 5 minutes.
Then came the off-ball foul called against Gordon. All these corrupt calls allowed Lakers to tie the game at 111 with a minute left.
The same ref then tried to thieve ball possession from Nuggets by claiming the ball went out off of a Denver player.
Luckily, another ref had had enough of his corruption & overturned his corrupt call, giving the ball back to Denver.
Nuggets inbounded the ball & Jokic scored the winning bucket (and was against robbed of an AND1)
@@tropickman game 1 in the bubble was one of the worst officiated games I’ve seen. Lakers were the better team but remove game 1 it would have been 3-1 with one game being decided by a buzzer beater, shows the Nuggest weren’t that far away when fully healthy and that was without AG.
This year I was waiting for the refs to ‘extend’ the series but tbh they weren’t too bad, ultimately the gap in talent was too large and the Lakers kept collapsing the defence allowing wide open 3s, which we were hitting
Lets not forget that "foul" on Butler, witch was imitiated by Butler kicking Gordon. Some bad ref in that final game, trying to extend the séries.
Nick Wrong lives rent free in my head, unfortunately. I can't stand that man's career/existence.
4 hours my dude? You're an absolute animal. God speed!
Oh my goodness! Your generosity will not go unnoticed. Thank you so much 🧡
As much as I wanted The Bucks and Giannis to win it all again this year, Nikola Jokic needed this championship even more. His legacy most likely would have been tarnished if he did not take his team to the promise land this year, with the 2 league MVPs he won before this season.
We can surely say its 3 mvps not 2
Tarinshed? Yall acting like hes destined
What a silly assertion. Jokic has many more years left in the league, which means many more cracks at a championship. His legacy wasn't even remotely in jeopardy this past season
What's even crazier is Bron had 2 MVP's before his championship, was never this disrespected, AND had to run to a stacked team of all-timers. Jokic had no other all-stars and dominated the post-season like none other, and at the very least there is no playoff run that is BETTER than Joks. Not MJs best, Bron, Steph, Magic, Larry, etc. Who all, btw, had stacked teams of all-stars. Jokic will still not get anywhere near the respect he deserves, not gonna happen.
I was rooting for Milwaukee vs Denver in the finals, that would’ve been an all time great series. Hopefully it happens next year
This is stunningly meticulous dissection of the most improbable superstar career in NBA history. Thank you.
I will forever love Jokic for humbling the Lakers and their fanbase this year.
Jokic got absolutely wild potential. Possible top 5 all time. Watch out, people are scared
Unprepared for that, and scared.
Started this at midnight when I have a deadline for work today. Watched all four hours straight. Way behind on my project and now pulling an all-nighter to get it done.
Worth. Every. Second.
Thanks for making this. You made it hilarious. And as someone who watches everything I can get my hands on about Jokic, this has so much I had not personally seen. Thank you for your efforts.
I will say I am surprised you didn't show the T-Mac clip before the finals talking about how good Jokic is.. it's awesome when you see who are the pros that actually understand the game of basketball. 11/10. I can't wait to watch it again.
thats not healthy
Great job chronicling all of this! Jokic is my favorite athlete of all time for so many reasons, and you've captured his greatness in this! Hats off
The thing is he is the embodiment of values that americans have come to resent. He's a family man. He doesn't care one iota about fame. He has an absolute focus on the game, yet he's not consumed by it. It's his job, not his soul. He simply doesn't fit the mould of what the talking-heads and useless media pundits have crafted for someone with his achievements - and like whiny, petty little children, they cannot admit that the mould they've crafted is wrong, that the avenue to greatness is not the one they paved. Therefore, they'll never truly acknowledge his greatness without some caveat: "he's incredible, but can't jump over a curb", "He's a miracle at offense, a disgrace at defense", so on and so forth.
In the end of the day, he'll never be talked with the same reverence as others, especially other Americans, because he simply isn't one of them. And that's the sad truth.
You're 100% but there are plenty of American fans who are loving every minute of Jokic. I live in Ohio and most of us like Jokic much more than we like Lebum
He grew up in a combat zone. Life and family is more important than basketball to him.
@@cappy2282it's because he's white, he embodies the values and sportmanship en vogue in America before sports became so black. It's the truth
2:09:57 is such a great quote haha. Not just for Instagram but for social media in general. The fact that Jokic is off of social media triples my respect for him and is one of the many reasons he's my favorite player by far
Exactly. I love that about him. He’s such a humble guy
He spends a lot of time in youtube, which is kind of a social media at this point because of community posts they've added a few years ago. But nevertheless, it's still a great quote.

When your in Philly stay away from Kensington that’s where the crackheads live😭
Amazing video. As someone who doesn't live in the US I'm astounded by this compilation of trash talk by most of your sports media outlets. It's hard for me to consider that so many journalists and commentators spend time trying to tear down such a unique athlete. Constantly shifting the narrative to satisfy their agenda. Unfortunately it's not surprising either, as I've seen this in another sport over the last decade or so - tennis, with Novak Djokovic. I'm pretty sure he also got called boring etc. Notice a pattern? I wonder how many NBA fans even know that Jokic plays in a league belonging to a country that bombed his just over 20 years ago. Here'e oping he achieves a three-peat, although even then they will find reasons for him not being on the same level as such-and-such player.
As a Nuggets fan I was ready for this video after Game 5 ended! Been a longtime supporter of your amazing videos.
You’ve been one of the few people on any platform that consistently highlighted Jokic’s talent and the media bias against him. Big shout out and congrats on all your progress!!!
As a nuggets fan I already know this is gonna be my favorite video. Been watching for a decent bit and man your content just keeps getting better
Jokic deserved to be mvp 3 years in a row. 🏆
Thanks dude for making this vid. He is my favorite player after Dirk and both getting chips while facing criticism all their career, it is just sweet man. It's fucking so sweet. 🗡️🃏
Such a masterpiece bro. Im speechless! The amount of work and effort you put into your videos can not be understated.
Jokic might be the Ohtani of the NBA and no one would even notice.
I’m a Bucks Fan but I’m so glad Jokic got his ring this year. Not because I’m a super fan of his, nah, I just think him winning this ring and Embiid failing again makes the league/discussion so much funnier. Like I live for the 76ers downfall, I thought Jokic should’ve three-peated, which makes his win ever so much more hilarious. Btw Embiid won’t ever go down as a consecutive MVP cause the leagues finally clamping down on flopping (watch him barely get 27 a game)
I never understood the eye test argument. How can you watch Jokic dominate with skill and precision, in a way a Center never has, and not see the best player in the league?
They also say, "Well I would rather have all these different players instead of Jokic, so he can't be that good." The only thing that proves is that they are poor evaluators of basketball.
The "eye-test" argument REALLY is: "I was too lazy to actually watch Nikola Jokic play, but I watched a LOT of Joel Embiid highlights, and I can't "unsee" those".
My exact thoughts. Saying I would rather pick and then name a couple of players over Jokić speaks way more about them than about Jokić
I cannot imagine how much it takes to create a masterpiece such as this, and for it to be so long, damn bro. Congrats, this is just incredible.
I'm gonna watch this over a couple days probably, these videos always leave me wanting more ❤
Great video, I'm glad that Denver finally had both Jokic and Murray in the playoffs this year and they showed us how dominant of a team that they are! Hoping they go back to back!

I join my hands in your praise🙏. A well-versed 4 hour Nikola Jokic documentary is all the world needs to be a better place.
This decade's generational player hasn't been set quite yet, but we do know it's been pretty heavily marked already as the foreign player decade. Giannis, Jokic, Luka, Embiid all already leaving a big mark on the league. When it's all said and done though, I really hope we get to see a couple Bucks vs Nuggets finals and this decade being defined by Giannis and Jokic and to see those two both go down as top 10 players all time if not higher. It wouldn't hurt to see Luka or Embiid steal a chip somewhere in there too, but I really hope championships start going the first two player's way.
Insane work, 4 hour of pleasure summarizing the love I have for this player that I followed since 2016. Thank you so much bro !!!!!
Loved the journey they took us on during this Documentary, shows anyone who's a Nuggets fan what the organization did from the beginning/end(from the Drafting of: Jokic, Murray, M.P.J.,)to making the W.C.F. against the Lakers in '20 losing, then Jokic M.V.P. seasons('21, '22), Murray's knee injury & his bounce back last year '22, to the whole organization putting it all together in '23 to win it all!!!

Wow you delivered ! been waiting for this for long time but i had no idea it would be at this lenght, great work
About his attitude, yea I feel that people in America, or honestly in the west in general, want their athletes to eat sleep and live their sport. Like it’s crazy that someone so good would be this chill and laid back about his life. And sports fans just forget that they too are humans and not everyone is the same. Not everyone is a psychopath like Jordan and Kobe, there are winners out there that are different (and don’t need to beat up their teammates lol) like Duncan and Jokic.

Amazing long form videos, I love tge commentary and the plethora of different sources you showcase. 10/10, I'm listening to this during lunch at work for 2 days now.
One thing I believe people don't understand fully is - Jokic LOVES the game, Jokic CARES about the game... It's a matter of life or death for him... When he's ON THE COURT.
Off the court - basketball is not at the top of his priorities.
But...
When he's ON THE COURT... when GAME IS ON... He's a warrior, an avenger, do-or-die winner.
Off the court... there's LIFE... HIS LIFE. His family, his hobbies, friends, ... his time.
He's kind of a prototypical Serb... Not to say that all Serbs are like him or good as he is or good people when it comes right down to it... But there's that... which is common... an Idea that life is more and bigger than ANY game.
Your videos are always great recaps, thanks man🔥

It’s amazing the amount of work you put into your content. It’s excellent work. Just a bit of advice - a video like this will perform much better with the algorithm if you break it into 4 parts and release one part each day for 4 days. The way the YT algorithm works long form content is very rarely recommended and if it is the average new viewer will see 4 hours and move on. If you broke your content like this one into 4 parts I think you can grow your channel much quicker. Love your work man, hope to see the channel grow quick👍🏻

Great work putting this together and sharing it! A good study of human behavior that allows for the recognition of trends. It's much easier to see errors in others than in ourselves. This shows a continued struggle by some basketball personalities to recognize Nikola Jokic's ability and the refusal to recognize what is obvious (performance measured by stats) in order to hold on to and justify their stereotypes. So much easier to see this in others, much more difficult to see it within ourselves. It is a reminder that we are all at times subject to bias. It presents an opportunity for us individually to reflect and gain awareness of the hidden workings of how our bias can diminish our ability to see things as they are. And what do we risk when we prioritize the need to be "right" over being true? We become susceptible to ignoring evidence that contradicts what we believe. One of the most challenging things to do in sports (and in life) is to recognize things as they actually are - when they have changed - and then make an adjustment. The best adjustments are based on accurate information. Great teams make beneficial adjustments based on accurate information and they are open to reevaluate when evidence contradicts what they believe. When you start losing, when things aren't going your way, are you able to adjust or do you double down on continuing to do more of the same? Greatness is realized within each of us when we allow ourselves to be embarrassed for our mistakes instead of hiding them; to learn from our experience and apply what we have learned in the next decision - in the next adjustment. So long as we believe that being wrong is considered a weakness, we will avoid humility. Without humility we will struggle to see past stereotypes and other forms of bias and struggle to recognize when things have changed. How will you learn what you do not know if you believe you must act like you know what you do not? When you watch this video, what do you notice about the Nuggets? What patterns do you recognize from people who continue to improve themselves? What patterns to you observe from those who resist being wrong? What attitude and behaviors are you able to objectively observe from Nikola Jokic? Can you see yourself in Jokic? Can you see yourself in the naysayers? We are all subject to bias. It's up to you to learn from it and to make the next adjustment.
Yes! I was waiting on this one 🔥🔥
